http://tfr.faa.gov/save_pages/detail_7_2605.html We've got a NOTAM! Blue Origin is supposedly saying they're going to launch between the 11th and the 14th. I can sense crewed flights coming soon... 2018 gathers yet even more hype...

Oh, that reminds me, once I was sitting in the back of a school bus and we crossed an intersection and a pickup truck went straight across at medium speed and missed the back of the bus by a couple feet. That's five. Another one I thought was a close call at the time, but I was nowhere close to actually dying: I was on this rollercoaster and my seatbelt (but not my lap bar) came undone. The coaster wasn't extreme or anything, but it sure freaked me out at the time.

I might be slightly exaggerating, but here's a list: I wasn't breathing when I was born, the umbilical cord was wrapped around my neck twice. I almost had a model rocket launched directly into my face. Most likely not lethal, but, man, I was screaming for a solid thirty seconds after it missed my face by two inches. I almost fell off of a very large cliff in South Dakota, I was sliding towards it then my foot caught a rock. I was involved in a car crash a few months ago that injured two people pretty badly, one of whom could have easily died (I was in the same car as both of them).

I just did two of those online "When will I die" tests. One said 2074, one said 2093. It got me thinking. How accurate exactly are they? I've already come relatively close to death a few times. Am I either lucky to have survived, or unlucky that I've had so many near-ish death experiences? Am I living in the danger zone, or does everyone have several near death experiences before they're out of high school? And then I realized, that even if I die in the 2065, I'm currently as close to the date of the first moon landing than I am to my death. Part of me wonders if the space agencies will have pulled themselves together by then and gotten us to Mars... Interesting, if slightly weird thoughts.

It's a bit big compared to the actual lander, but it's still a great idea! The only thing that's missing is a wall full of random switches, buttons, and dials that do absolutely nothing other than making satisfying noises.

@tater Oh, I didn't think that had been done already! Now let's hope for someone to actually take them to space... Any funny ideas for licence plates? -

With the HGTTG and a towel, would fuzzy dice be too much to ask for? -
The 1-10 keys are bigger than the space bar, though, so more likelyhood for something to go wrong. Maybe bind it to a useless key, like page up? Or maybe a complex keyboard shortcut like CTRL-O-5-, or something impossible to accidentally hit.

So, I was at improv practice tonight and we were waiting for the other group to plan out their scene, which we are given two minutes to do. I turn to the guy next to me and say "Hmm, I wonder if I could get to the cafeteria and back in two minutes." And he says "Try it." And I don't hesitate, I just run. Improv/English room: Third floor, far south side of the school. Cafeteria: First floor, far north side of the school. So, I run down the staircase and turn into the hallway which leads into the 1952 expansion, which is basically a long ramp. However, there's a group of middle school (I think) kids standing there at the base of the hallway, and for whatever reason as soon as they see me burst through the doors, they all start screaming and run away. I got the feeling they weren't supposed to be there, but I was too busy laughing my face off to care. Made it there and back in under a minute and a half.

7:30 for me. Hopefully I'm done with improv by then.

"Elon! Falcon Heavy won't be enough and BFR will be 6 years late!" "So do asparagus." "But we can't!" "It works in Kerbal space program." "But Elon! It's impossible to do that in real life!" "Hold my beer." -

Hehehehehe. One rocket I flew took 40 minutes to get to orbit. I'd say "NEVER AGAIN," but I have to fly a few dozen more of them if I want to complete the mission (albeit they are simpler and only take 20 minutes). -
The fairings have these things called "Interstage nodes." They float above the fairing a few meters. They can be useful or annoying. I'd not recommend savefile edits, those don't work well. I'd either relaunch the probe or install the "Kaboom" mod which allows you to right click on parts and blow them up.

"You are never going to use this in life at all." -My Pre-Calc teacher, after teaching us how to synthetically divide six term polynomials to find imaginary number zeroes of the function.

*Barges into the conversation* "Not to third wheel or anything, but if you're building a nuke I'll build the missile it goes on!" Actually, though, we had this one class where we could do anything we wanted to do as long as we showed progress so I decided to design a 1 man orbital rocket. It ended up being a pretty bad design, but it was better than nothing! I think that makes me the most experienced person in spacecraft design in my entire town, actually, when you consider I also designed several small moon impactor concepts and a few minimalist suborbital capsule and lifter designs... Now if only there weren't these things called "laws" and "regulations," I might have tried my hand at building a small version of one of them...

You need to have more determination to make that reference.

(Off topic) Friday for me is going to be pretty bad. We have the first pep band session on Friday. Awesome! Those are fun. It's my crush's birthday. Also awesome! And we've got an Electron launch! YESSPACEISCOOL!!!!!!!!! Except I'm going to miss most of all three of those because of stupid Driver's Ed which I cannot miss barring a tragedy.

WOOOHOOO!!!!!!!
Since my birthday is on March 29, my favorite number has grown to become 29 over the years.
And I have 2929 rep now, so YAY!
Wait, I just got a notification and now it's 2030 as I'm writing this... Oh, well. Fun while it lasted!

If you've got more fuel available to you than what you need for the lowest energy Hohmann, than you can get to Mars faster. Your aerobraking/capture burn will be more intense, but it is doable.
