I mean, Steam uploads these images in .jpg so that might have something to do with it. Might also be the settings they're using to capture with, I don't know. There's quite a few options for why this is the case. It'd be rather silly if KSP2 managed to somehow regress on the AA side of things, given how easy it is to implement on Unity.

You know what? No. I had a whole argument laid out, about how imperial made more sense from a daily lives perspective, after all it's a system of measurements designed around the every day life rather than every day life being designed around a system of measurements, but frankly, this conversation could go on for eons, and I'm stubborn, but I'm not that stubborn. Consider this a victory if you want, I'm considering this as a draw. There's reasons to use metric over imperial, especially for science and engineering. I'm going to make this absolutely clear though, under no circumstances do I ever believe that a species should be using one system of measurement. That suggests something catastrophic has happened to the species, like a global dictatorship, or the complete destruction of individuality. By the ways, it was because of Canadians that we crashed Mars Climate Orbiter with different systems of measurements, that's why all of the engineering fields now use metric. Thanks for that. I'd prove you wrong with the actual IEEE/ISO standard but my googlefu wasn't up to snuff, so have the next best thing. And neither does the SI light year, it's only named a light year because of the Julian year, but it's based on a constant length!
-
I mean, maybe? SI ultimately was made because we needed a way to standardize science. It's fine to use SI for science and maybe engineering, but using it for every day casual conversation makes it hard to visualize things. If your frame of reference is shaku, and a soccer field, then that makes it easier to communicate to another local about it, and have the same idea about the distances. Everyone knows how long a soccer field is, it's the nation's national past time sport! It's much harder when your only frame of reference for measurement is a ruler. I do want to make a correction real quick:US history taught me that metric had evolved in Asia before being adopted and refined by France. It was not. Upon closer inspection, it appears to be an invention of the French. I don't know where that Asia story came from, but it does annoy me that I have been taught incorrect information. Looking into the Chinese system, it's possible metric was adopted from the chi system, as the Chinese imperial was standardized based on astronomical measurements, which are fairly stagnant, but that is still not the metric system.

Well, by your logic, beta 1.8 pre-release 1 and 2 were pre-pre-released, so... yeah. Things to think about I guess. Why not try to make a replica in stock? Ooh, with interstellar, you should be able to make a proper Voyager replica!
-
I'd honestly argue the semantics of that all month, including the fact that classic->beta Minecraft weren't considered pre-releases but beta 1.8 had a couple of opt-in, clearly labeled pre-release builds, but honestly that's just not worth it. What are you gonna build in KSP 2 anyways? I'm gonna build a stick ship!
-
Is it still a pre-release if it's still released to the wider public?

Well ignoring the fact that Asia's imperial is quite literally metric, yes. Celsius is how hot water feels, so it doesn't much too much sense to ask a human how hot they are in Celsius. A lot of countries still use Fahrenheit from day to day as a result. Outside of Fahrenheit, all of my European friends I can talk to right now have a pretty damn good understanding of kvarters, feet and pied. Even those who don't understand imperial measurements of length all understand fluids. Liter's too much(and makes you pay way too much for gasoline,) milliliter's too small, but a pint(or the pretty much identical unit of chopine) is a good size for a beer. Pretty much the only country I can think of to really benefit from metric-standardization is Germany, and that's because Germany tinkered with its unit specifications about as often as its tank specifications. Seriously, go look at any page of German imperial units, it varied pretty much from city to city, even well into the age where the Swedish and British Empires had these all standardized. Napoleon brought it due to English mockery of them since the French pied du roi was a bit bigger than the English foot, which led to much mockery and misconceptions about Napoleon's height. If you count not being mocked by the British as a "benefit" then I guess France would be the second country to benefit from metric-standardization.

I'll also just chuck in, a little offhandedly, that the human brain isn't wired to think in SI. Most people still use imperial in their day to day lives, including in England, because imperial is based on human frame of references. Also, the pixels you view this from are based on imperial. The official standard of a pixel is 1/96th of an inch. This whole conversation makes no sense honestly. Light years are likely to be based on their SI equivalent, which we've already established is the distance light travels over the course of 31,556,952 seconds. This entire conversation about resizing the light year for Kerbal years is like if we decided to resize the meters in KSP because the planets are much smaller than they should be. A 3 meter diameter part in KSP is going to be equivalent to 3 meters in diameter in real life, guys.

Try 56, but close enough.

You know by asking this, you're basically inviting 20 some odd people to go "I care," right? I don't think it's so much that we're out of fuel, it's more so that we just kind of exhausted the topics. Plus, the hype has to take on different forms. It's not like we can go wait outside of Gamestop for that spiritual moment of getting your copy the literal moment the store opens anymore, because practically no one worth salt does physical releases anymore. Not really a jab at physical releases, I love owning the games I paid for, but it's more so the companies that can afford to do physical releases are basically in the toilet in terms of quality right now.

KSP 2 Multiplayer Discussion Thread

I may be wrong but I'm fairly certain that bike's got some Attack Bike vibes to it so... tack on Command and Conquer I guess.- 1,629 replies

It was supposed to be a funny segue into my actual confusion, and also there wasn't really any room for debate to begin with. I made sure of that for a reason. Well, it doesn't, and secondly, when did that EVER factor into legitimate, serious designs? You could still have realistic designs that work just fine in KSP. In most cases, stock aero is principally fine, though flawed. It's the type of flawed that needs you to go out of your way to mess with it though. That said, you're welcome to play however you like, I'm not gonna stop you. What in the world does this have to do with the price of tea in Taiwan? Am I missing some context here? The reindeer in the screenshots is by far not the weirdest aircraft out there, and arguably weirder designs in real life have been worked on.

Okay but we have the kerbals and kerbalinas, and so it shouldn't really be that much of a problem to just... swap the pronouns as the need arose. At least from the material I've seen, there's no real "gamete neutral" kerbs, so it's as simple as a bit flag check. I'm more confused on how these are generated, to be honest. Were the weird errors a result of bad photoshop, or something else? Gusming's is obviously the longest, and yet it's got no problems compared to Merfal or Orney, whose lines cut off pretty obviously. One of them is so bad I can't even figure out what the heck it's supposed to say. Mad? Sad? Lad???? Merfal, what are you feeling!?
-
It's not so much I have a problem with coming up with names, I've got all sorts of names. My Minmus and Mun missions were Minmun and Maxmun respectively. It was more so the fact I kept reusing the same launch vehicle and forgot to label which missions they were.

I know a lot of you guys say you're patient and can wait... I am not that way. C'mon I'm wasting my tens and soon to be my twenties! Release FASTER dang it! (Don't actually, just keep up the good work.)

[1.9.1 - 1.10.x] Beyond Home 1.5.0 (Supports Parallax)
Missingno200 replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Appreciated, but could you give an image of what you mean? Mine appears to already be all to the right, and even the shader quality which I didn't notice before didn't change squat. I also never installed stock textures.- 1,650 replies

Oh, I didn't watch the video. Also, it's ranked under the $44.99 games that I have in my wishlist. I guess that could be Steam wishlist being weird again.
-
I'm gonna guess that KSP2 is going to be around 40 bucks on EA, mostly because Steam's wishlist system is just outright broken and on occasion will sort by price for "Coming Soon" games by their currently registered price.

A list of mods might help. I'm having the same problem too so having something to cross check would be nice.- 1,650 replies

Looking for replacement planet packs
Missingno200 replied to Missingno200's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
Pretty useful stuff, though I already knew the GEP part. Sincerely, thanks for the rest of the information. While I appreciate the suggestion, this thread was specifically for mods that completely change or outright remove the Kerbolar system in favor of another, since those are on average rarer than a planet addition or modification mod. The other two will get on the list though, when I get around to updating the thread. -

Good to know. Interesting knowledge, and I'll take GEP into consideration. GEP seems familiar, I wonder if it's the pack I used in the past. -
Looking for replacement planet packs
Missingno200 replied to Missingno200's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
Oh, I actually found an image of the planet pack I'm referring to! Unfortunately I don't have a name or anything, it's only a picture of me doing career mode and checking out the planet from the SC overview. I've added it to the original post.
