1. I wasn't able to reproduce this with the craft file, maybe it's something to do with the station itself? If you have a save file prior to docking please upload it reinderien. The parts are definitely on the antenna and not offset from the tug.
2. This might be best in Fanworks, I hope you can find some craft for your vids MacGamer.
3. Well, with the change of forum I lost all my subscribed threads including all the ones I had subscribed to for the TOTM's ... So I'm giving it a break for December, sorry everyone.
4. Sorry for the delay in answering this, forum move and all that. Yes I clicked the button after saving then again after reloading the quicksave, but I'm not seeing the issue you mention. What I do see is one heatshield contract in the persistent.sfs (the file I first looked at) and two heatshield contracts in the quicksave, one to test a 1.25m heatshield at 43km to 53km and between 1,940m/s and 2,360m/s, the other contract is to test a 2.5m heatshield while landed, this is two different contracts for two different parts. But you only have a single 1.25m heatshield on your craft. So running the test on the launchpad will result in no activity because it's the wrong heatshield. Also, your craft is incapable of achieving the required speed and altitude for the 1.25m heatshield contract, so in neither case would I expect the "run test" button to actually have an effect. What is interesting here is the lack of a prototype 2.5m heatshield which is usually provided for any test contract when the player doesn't already have that part, and you have a prototype 1.25m heatshield despite having already researched it, but without knowing more about the history of this save and what occurred when the contracts were accepted there's not really anything to point to a cause or solution. Researching the "Landing" node to get the 2.5m heatshield allows me to complete that contract, as for the other all I can suggest is moar boosters!
5. Hi reinderien, can you please upload the save file to a file site such as dropbox and post the link here, we can't tell what is causing your issue without reproducing it.
6. Hi safejrz, I see you're using a 1.0.4 save in 1.0.5, several of the aero parts were moved to new tech tree nodes but they remain in the old nodes in the persistent.sfs to avoid breaking the save. The turboramjet is now in Hypersonic flight. Also, parts you already researched that were moved may have to be researched again to re-unlock them.
7. It's a known issue, it's cross-platform and gpu agnostic so it's definitely the UI, which is being replaced in 1.1 so this will be moot
8. I'm afraid I have to agree, this isn't what most players think of when they see the word "challenge". Pink rockets aren't new, but if you really want people to make you pink rockets then this would have been more suited to the Spacecraft Exchange as a request. Moving!
9. Hi Veeltch, some parts were moved to new tech tree nodes but were not removed from the persistent.sfs to avoid deleting craft in flight. You can easily fix this by editing the save file in a text editor (back it up by making a copy first though) and removing the redundant lines.
10. Well, LC_ALL=C should not be needed anymore, with 1.0.5 the game was made to ignore the users locale. But if you're getting permission denied you'll need to check the permissions of the files, if you're dualbooting with Windows make sure Linux and KSP are on a Linux compatible file system (not NTFS or FAT).
11. Okay there's another trick you could try, I can't guarantee it'll help though, as these are Unity engine commands, not coded in by Squad. If you start KSP via a shortcut, in the target box add one of these (and only one) after KSP.exe " -force-opengl" " -force-d3d11" Yes there's a space in front of them, and they may break completely if you're fullscreen, also they can mess up various graphics in KSP (editor, text). But they may help you reach the pole as they both use memory more efficiently than D3d9 (the default).
12. This should really be in the Suggestions forum, so I moved it :)
13. I found the secret. Find the secret. Edited to fix the secret.
14. Xasin, your issue could be the result of the libCSteamworks.so file being in the wrong folder. Try moving the libCSteamworks.so file to GameData/Squad/Plugins/
15. Looks like I was incorrect, it is finished but the files it needs may be in the wrong folder. Try moving the libCSteamworks.so file to GameData/Squad/Plugins/ See here for more info.
16. Hi Dissonant, please try Steam support for issues with Steam, as Steam is provided by the Valve corporation and not by Squad, Squad just uses Valves platform to sell their game. A search shows this is not an issue only with KSP but with many other games too. A Valve representative would be able to tell you where to find your Steam logs and help you pinpoint the cause of the problem.
17. Sorry quyxkh but I cannot reproduce this with the save and steps you provided, the "run test" button is available again after I quickload. Also, there is only one contract to test the heat shield in the save files. Maybe some one else can reproduce this and figure out what you are seeing.
18. Hi Tricky14. Your save seems to be fine, there is nothing wrong with it causing this issue, but your suspicions are correct and this is a memory issue, the error was written to the log but there is no in-game warning, the only method of monitoring memory use in-game is to keep the debug window open on the performance tab, otherwise you can monitor the memory with task manager. Here's KSP running out of RAM in the error.log
KSP.exe caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005) in module KSP.exe at 0023:00481502. Error occurred at 2015-11-26_092252. C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program\KSP.exe, run by yours truly. 67% memory in use. 0 MB physical memory [2650 MB free]. 0 MB paging file [1820 MB free]. 0 MB user address space [67 MB free]. Write to location 00000000 caused an access violation.
And here's the output_log.txt's entry.
DynamicHeapAllocator out of memory - Could not get memory for large allocationCould not allocate memory: System out of memory! Trying to allocate: 963216B with 32 alignment. Trying to allocate: 963216B with 32 alignment. MemoryLabel: VertexData Allocation happend at: Line:489 in
This occurred because the PQS terrain cache will grow and shrink as you cover ground on a planet or moon, and at the point of the crash it needed to grow but no memory was available, being a 32bit application KSP is limited to a 32bit address space. I can drive your craft without it crashing but I don't have much RAM left, with my gfx settings on maximum except for half res textures and in a window (1024x768) KSP used around 2800 to 2900 megabytes, after lowering the terrain detail, scatters and render quality to half KSP uses about 1900 to 2100 megabytes. Your lag is also being caused by reaching the memory limit, as KSP is caching stuff to the page file. All I can suggest here is that you turn down your graphics further, try windowed mode, try a lower resolution and reduce the number of other programs running that might be using the page file. Also, exiting to the main menu will clear the PQS cache completely. Here's your craft past the hill, you are a far more patient driver than I am.
19. I really don't know, I hadn't thought to ask Kasper that one. I'd back it up anyway, just in case...
20. Yes. Quite far, should be enough to cover every part behind the shield and within its area. Yes. No. If you need protection from heat you need heat shields :) Moving to GamePlay Questions.
21. Okay, thanks for letting me know, now I know to tell others that USB overdrive can cause a problem.
22. It'll be some time in 2016 unfortunately.
23. Zekario, KSP uses FMOD for sound via the Unity3D game engine, and it looks like others have also had issues with sound after using suspend. No idea on the quicksave message, maybe there's an error in the log to say why, you can open it in-game with rightshift+F2 or check your Player.log in ~/.config/unity3d/Squad/Kerbal\ Space\ Program/ , also you can enable anti-aliasing, "no hardware support" doesn't mean AA won't work. KSP also uses a lot of cpu on my desktop, no idea why or if it can be reduced. For fonts you will need Arial.ttf and ArialBd.ttf files in your usr/share/fonts folder, you can get these from the ttf-mscorefonts-installer package on Debian systems, there should be an equivalent on Arch, more info here. ETPOF, not easily, KSP doesn't make a backup or send the folder to the recycle bin so your only choice is to try an undelete program and hope it recovers the files. The Ubuntu repository contains a few programs to do this, they are extundelete, magicrescue and testdisk.
24. I think this should be in modded support. No ideas on your issue, sorry.
