  1. Well the file can be edited from within KSP, the debug menu options for heat are saved to that file, so the players changes are persistent.
  2. Squad are not able to reproduce issues that do not have sufficient supporting information, no information on system configuration has been provided. Please update the tracker issue, this thread will be closed however to prevent argument.
  3. Hi Deaghaidh, there is strict part node attachment rules now, though this can be disabled in the modkey+F12 debug options, but the nodes should all be the correct way round. If this is occurring with stock parts then I suggest you re-install KSP, this should ensure all the Squad parts are up-to-date. If you are using modded parts please check for updates as those parts may have the nodes the wrong way around.
  4. Hi chrisl154, the site was changed at the time of the 1.0.0 release, and a lot of people saw the "maintenance" message because their internet service provider was failing to redirect to the new page. Essentially it was a DNS error. Your ISP may just not have bothered to update their DNS, even after all this time, but you can change which DNS you use and I suggest Googles DNS here. As Gaarst says the site and downloads are working, but if changing DNS doesn't help you let us know.
  5. Hi all! There's been a lot of activity these last few months despite the encroach of summer, who needs the beach when we have beaches near our beloved KSC? Not to mention on Laythe, send me a postcard! -------------------- We get a lot of art threads and story threads in Fanworks, but this has to be the best mix of both, check out Kuzzter's Duna or Bust comic here!, reading and funny pictures, that's about my limit literature-wise. -------------------- Soda Popinski has made this hilarious short B-movie, Amazon women from the Mun, complete with its own "making of". Now I know where female Kerbals came from! -------------------- MarvinKitFox comes up with the challenge for this TOTM, with his Kerbol limbo, how low can you go? -------------------- This might be the first craft I've stickied from this well known and highly skilled builder, and it's far from his only vehicle of this type, but I think it's the best, take a look at Zekes Iosif Stalin 4, stock heavy tank!, that's some serious creativity with nothing but stock parts. -------------------- I don't know about you but mining can be a grind, all that punching of trees to make pickaxes, oh wait wrong game, so if you're as in-the-know about mining as I am you might appreciate rhadamant's step by step mining guide. -------------------- Not a thread this time but a post, on the subject of getting joysticks working in KSP, hellbender goes out of his way to help us out here, if you're having trouble with your bindings it's worth checking out (and dropping him some rep). -------------------- There's been quite a lot of talk about the new film The Martian by Andy Weir all over the net, and we have our very own thread discussing the book and movie here thanks to sp1989, so if you're interested in Mars it's worth a look.
  6. If your Physics.cfg is old you can get a new one from the game zip or from here. That should solve the issue.
  7. Just a note on the LV-N, you will still need radiators to remove their heat while in space, they won't radiate very well on their own and heat conduction to other parts is slow. Re-entry effects will occur but under different conditions to those that players coming from an earlier version of KSP expect, they are supposed to better coincide with the times that parts are actually getting hot. Edit: I see what you mean, the internal defaults don't match the file in the zip, doing some testing here. Edit2: Yeah this is wrong, you can find the file here.
  8. Merged into the other thread, and it was the footballs!
  9. Don't know about you but I don't want another 600mb download just yet, I'm happy to wait for the sentinel mods inclusion in 1.1
  10. Closing this, the root issue is the runaway overheating, nothing else, having a reliable method to trigger it helps but once the heat issue is solved all the means to cause it will be moot.
  11. Hi Clockwork13, it's hard to know what's going on just from that, but you should be able to re-enter without much trouble if you set your periapsis to about 30km. You'll slow down quickly enough to avoid too much atmospheric heating, too high and you'll be super sonic for too long and risk overheating, too much lower and you can punch through the atmosphere without losing enough speed to safely open the chutes. The new default for chutes is to open at 1000m and 0.04 pressure, craft launched before the update may still have the lower values though, so adjust them accordingly. If your Physics.cfg is old you may also have incorrect values for heat, so rename it Physics.old so KSP makes a new one.
  12. Attempt is the word, if I could fix KSP so it'd work for everyone I would.
  13. Just physical merch I think, so other people can't profit from the Kerbal brand without Squads permission.
  14. s10w10rr1s, can you please verify that a new unmodded install does not suffer from this issue.
  15. Unfortunately you'd not be able to sell them without consent from Squad as they own the Kerbal IP, but it doesn't hurt to get in touch with them and ask.
  16. Or open your game folder and look to see the VAB and SPH files are actually there.
  17. It might help to know that the Steam overlay is 32bit only and breaks on Linux x64, there is no 64bit version of that Steam library yet, and you can't run LD on a lib to see what it needs. Edit: Oh and I get the nullrefs but not the crash, Xubuntu 15.04 with Nvidia 346.
  18. inigma isolated clear reproduction steps and a simple test craft that triggers the runaway heating of parts, and has reported this issue with logs to the tracker, this is what the developers need to occur when dealing with any suspected bug. Everything else so far has been anecdotal evidence at best, overdramatic at worst, knowing that an effect occurs with many different parts is not helpful and just causes confusion, reproducible steps must be found. Now that it has been, the test team can reproduce the issue which I see has already happened, and the developers now have enough information to work on why this occurs.
  19. This is a duplicate of this issue, it's too late to merge them so this will be closed to prevent confusion.
  20. GoG has 1.0.4 now on all platforms, so this thread is redundant. Closing! (oh and GoG 4 evah!)
  21. It's nice that they linked to the KSP forum, though as others have mentioned, it was because the thread is highly rated by Google. Which is in itself pretty cool actually
  22. Just ended up a little too subtle I thought you'd found Jesus...
