  1. Please check your settings.cfg, sometimes KSP Linux resets to the Windows default of left Alt. Reset as necessary
  2. Can confirm, Kerbin is 600,000m while Earth is a little bit bigger, I used to think it was 1/6th as well.
  3. I assume SpaceX use modern composites, lots of carbon fibre, not metals which would explain the lower mass. But if we took the 1.25 metre KSP fairing base, made a 1.25 metre high fairing and subtracted the mass of the base, could someone figure out the mass of the fairing panels alone? It may be closer to steel of the same thickness of an equivalent aluminium shell, it'd be interesting to find out.
  4. Some of the points brought up are listed here thanks to Spuds, and while fairings were not specifically mentioned they do have an effect but it's most noticeable over 300m/s. According to the fairings part.cfg they are supposed to be pretty light for what they are as well, and real world aluminium rocket fairings mass several tons. Edit: Has anyone tried to calculate the mass per metre of a fairing panel? And compare that to real world materials?
  5. KSP makes a KSP.log in the same folder as the KSP.exe, and an output_log in KSPData every time the game is started, if the files are not there it suggests there is a write permissions issue.
  6. Can you check that your GameData/Squad folder still exists and upload your KSP.log please.
  7. They were falling faster than should be possible, drag was even less than in FAR so just changing the chutes wouldn't solve the underlying issue there. It's not helping that all parts make lift and lift is too high now, even the pod and heat shield makes more lift than it should so it feels much dragger than it's supposed to. Also, anyone who is still having problems with their parachutes should delete their PartDatabase.cfg, as upgrading to 1.0.2 doesn't replace that file if it finds it's already there.
  8. There seems to be two things going on here, bad part files and a bad save. It should be possible to fix the first one by deleting the GameData folder and then verifying the game cache in Steam, Steam won't replace the files if it thinks they are alright, deleting that folder forces Steam to replace them. The second issue may be easy or impossible, the game does not detect any thumbnail images for the save, so after Steam has finished replacing the files and before launching anything, re-save each craft in both the VAB and SPH so new thumbnails are generated. The other issues I see in the save should be fixed by the cache verification, but also I suggest disabling antialiasing and PPFX in the KSP settings, as there's some shader errors in the log.
  9. There's a lot of strange stuff in your output_log, stuff I haven't seen before, is this only happening on one save?
  10. PPFX? Do you have an AMD graphics card? PPFX is unreliable on AMD hardware for Linux and OS X unfortunately, I didn't know that it was also a problem on Windows.
  11. Trees are terrain scatter and can be reduced or turned off in the settings screen.
  12. I see error logs 1 to 15, I don't see any other files. You can find the KSP.log in the game directory, and output_log in KSPData.
  13. The gauges are on by default, and appear when you get too hot, press F10 to toggle them.
  14. Well the old name generator only had male(ish) names, now there's two genders so take a guess what changed Kerbal occupation (Scientist, Engineer, Pilot) are determined from the name, I think Stupidity and Bravery are as well. As for the details of the generator names or its inner working, I know as much as you do, maybe the community can make a list of all the names they've seen
  15. MajorJim, can you please get the output_log and KSP.log immediately after one of these crashes, the two files are slightly different and KSP will write to them when there is an internal error.
  16. Happy birthday cyberpawn Also if you upload your career save and tell people what's wrong, someone might be able to fix it.
  17. Dropbox offers free accounts and enough storage for even the most crash prone pilots As for merge, not seen that yet, can you also upload the craft in question?
  18. Hi aratnamedsammy, whatever is crashing KSP is preventing it from writing the cause to the log, this suggests that the crash may be caused by another program. Please try a clean boot, if this resolves your issue then something you have installed is affecting KSP.
