  1. @yorshee, wow!, no other words, you are gorgeous! Me? I'm like this...
  2. AMD graphics? I ask because AMD is well known for graphics card coil whine. While KSP loads v-sync is disabled, this makes loading faster (it's a Unity engine thing) but when playing v-sync is enabled by default, meaning the graphics card is not updating any faster than the refresh rate of the monitor, and the whine is reduced.
  3. I officially left Squads employ, I am taking a break from clearing out junk and preparing to leave, so I am here for a bit. I'll be on and off for the next week when I can spare some time
  4. Please either wait for @ManeTI here or contact Squad at [email protected] and ask for Manuel, he can investigate the account permissions.
  5. Please do not force OpenGL with KSP on Windows, it causes a lot of issues and is unsupported. KSP is CPU bound, meaning you should close other programs to free up CPU resources for KSP.
  6. I recommend installing to C:\Games\ on Windows, as that is a folder you create that won't be blocked by Windows permissions. Please avoid Program Files, even for Steam games it's a bad idea as Windows will lock down the file permissions.
  7. Please ensure the stick is plugged in before starting KSP, as KSP needs the enumerated list of controller names that the Unity engine makes when it is started. If the controller does not have a hardware name that Unity can find using Input.GetJoystickNames() then KSP won't be able to use it, sorry
  8. Okay I found the issue, it's not KSP, it's Windows 10. You need to enable modifying of permissions for the file/folder. It's probably doing this as it's in Program Files, you might want to try installing Steam games to another folder in the future. Hope this helps.
  9. I'm officially no longer Squad staff, a QA tester or a Moderator, I have removed my Moderator and Admin access, couldn't ask anyone else to do it for me.

Forum participation and tech support though? I did this before, during and I'll do this for a bit after while I'm getting ready to go, though I can only spare an hour here and there :)

  10. Please check your GPU driver @Donchielo, usually if KSP can't start it's because the Unity engine can't find a graphics driver, and it needs to be reinstalled. If that doesn't work please see this thread.
  11. I have one simple rule that guided me throughout moderation, "how much harm does this do to the community", that's it. People make mistakes, they forget, they don't mean any harm, so a tap on the shoulder is enough. Others come here to make trouble. Go with your gut, it's not hard, treat our friends as they would treat us, a reminder is enough.
  12. I guess the package version will differ because it's separate for Windows and Linux. Have you tried changing the permissions on KSP? If you set it and all subfolders and files to read/write will it persist?
  13. @jros83, have you turned off the space center crew in the settings screen? They are a big contributor to load.
  14. Bug #11382, "Bad resolution calls crash X window manager", should now be fixed in the 1.2.9 pre-release! Please test it on as many Linux desktops as you can
  15. Welcome back to another installment of the KSP forums Threads of the Month Here we look back on (and pin, messing up the forums) some great threads that you, our members, have made! Remember, if you see a thread that should be in a TOTM post in the comments below, or inform your friendly neighborhood moderator See March's TOTM here. Picking popular posts this month are... @Dman979! @AnonymousAerospace! @Deddly! @Frybert! And... @Snark! Lets get cracking! First up is a now permanently pinned thread by @CarnageINC, the Add-on development mod library! In Mission Reports we join @TheEpicSquared, through hardships to the stars... @Servo and @NorthAmericanAviation provide the craft this month, in fact they provide a jet a day, I can't keep up with their ingenuity. Our challenge this month is courtesy of @Rath, can you make a safe airliner in a universe of explosions and breaking joints? Find out! @MatterBeam brings us an incredible hand-drawn animation of the Falcon reusable booster, more people need to see this! Unusually for TOTM, we dip into the Tools forum to take a look at @OhioBob's automatic atmosphere tool. We go gardening in the Lounge with @UnusualAttitude, what will you grow? And finally, with the localization update now in pre-release and more languages on the way, we look back at the incredible efforts of @simon56modder, @Thomas P., @Galbar, @iceolator88, @Gaarst, @Vandest, @Nansuchao, @-DDD-, @Allan Sche Sar, @fitiales, @Proot, @astropapi1, @Pesterenan, @SevenAnarck, @De780, @Helmut and everyone else who contributed to bringing translations to KSP with the community language patches. That's all the threads for this months TOTM, and also my last TOTM for a while as I'm leaving Squad and the Kerbal Space Program forums for a long awaited and much needed break, I'll be taking at least a year off travelling Europe and making my way East over land to see the Alps, Moscow, China, Hong Kong and Japan, where I'll catch a plane to Mexico and spend my days with a lovely lady, returning to the UK is not a plan. I'll pop online a bit over the next few weeks, but this is goodbye from me for now, Squad says I have a job with them when I'm ready so I'll see you all again. The TOTM will be continued by the amazing moderators @Supernovy @Red Iron Crown @Vanamonde @sjwt @diomedea @AmpsterMan @Deddly @DuoDex@fcbayerndm @Frybert @goldenpeach @luizopiloto @Tex @monstah @NecroBones @Niemand303 @Rainbowtrout @Snark @sumghai @TheKosmonaut @Val @DYJ @Navy4422 @purpletarget @shadowsutekh and @Rich And huge thanks to everyone at Squad both old and new, especially @HarvesteR @Mu. @NathanKell @Claw @sarbian @Porkjet @Arsonide @Ted @KasperVld @Capt'n Skunky @Damion Rayne @Rowsdower @Maxmaps @nightingale @Squelch @technicalfool @JPLRepo @TriggerAu @ManeTI @Samssonart @nestor @UomoCapra @Ziggy Stardust @Robbonaut @RoverDude @bewing Leticia, Paulina, Fernanda, Julio, Pablo, Bjorn, Adrian, Ezekiel and the awesome Roy! Finally, and most importantly, a special mention for the wonderful @Badie See you in a few years!
  16. Switching vessels within physics range is via the [ and ] keys, vessels further away require the map, you can get to the tracking station from the pause menu (Esc) and switch that way too.
  17. If you use Hamachi, LogMeIn or have any unused network cards, even virtual ones, try disabling them, this is a Unity3D bug. If that does not help please see the link in Red Iron Crown's post above.
  18. Please remove -force-opengl or -force-glcore from the Steam client launch option for KSP
  19. Hmmm, did you copy KSP and change the folder name to KSP Extrasolar? I don't know what Steams behavior is when unknown folders are in common. Are there any other copies of KSP in your Steam common folder? Also you say Steam is the latest, is that the release or the beta? If you click on Help then About Steam you can get the date and API version of the client, for example mine was built on the 22 March, uses API v017 and is version 1490228413. Also was Steam installed as administrator?
  20. Can you open a tech support issue with your dxdiag, logs, mods, Steam client version, anti-virus program and info on these files and folders you created please.
  21. Are you two using ckan by any chance?
  22. https://steamcommunity.com/linkfilter/?url=https://apnews.com/1ce07e95dd654a35bb29f00359bad7bb/The-Latest:-Spacewalking-astronauts-lose-piece-of-shielding ISS astronauts lose their grip on an important piece of cloth shielding!
  23. Maybe @ManeTI can raise this with IPS, as it's not really something we can deal with.
