KSP crashes when taking screen shot
sal_vager replied to Kurld's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
That suggests something you have installed is causing this, can you also post pics of your task manager showing your running processes to imgur.com ? -
Shadows
sal_vager replied to Benno Rules Gaming's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
We need your games KSP.log and settings.cfg, both are in the game folder, also your dxdiag log, you can post these to dropbox. -
Strange background sound ingame
sal_vager replied to Majorjim!'s topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
So if you can't hear it with ambient at zero, it's an ambient noise in the game and in-game sounds can be replaced by some addons. So someone could fix this... -

Okay this is really really strange, it should be working, can you please post another output_log after this occurs. -
How to copyright add-ons
sal_vager replied to SolidJuho's topic in KSP1 C# Plugin Development Help and Support
Hi SolidJuho, your work is automatically protected by copyright law, but will require a license to be with the work and on the forum thread if you post your work here. You can choose any license you like, so if you don't want others redistributing it or using parts from it you can use "All rights reserved", or you can be permissive with a license that allows others to reuse and even monetize your work, or anything in between. -
KSP crashes when taking screen shot
sal_vager replied to Kurld's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
I better explain the reason for the advice above. Unless you use Steam or the Squad installer, KSP won't have a Windows registry entry telling Windows what folders KSP is allowed to write to, this is not only true of KSP but of any software that is just extracted manually from an archive file. If such software is extracted to a folder that Windows protects from malicious code, Data Execution Prevention can stop it from writing files or even from working at all. DEP exists on Linux and OS X as well, but is particularly annoying on Windows. The KSP.exe would be flagged as potentially malicious and the files ID logged, so even if it's moved elsewhere DEP won't let it run properly. Copying the game, or re-extracting afresh, gives you new files that are not logged, and as long as these are run from a non-protected Windows folder Windows couldn't care less if your software hosed your system or turned it into a botnet zombie. So the copied KSP should run just fine -
The Name Change Thread (WARNING! ONE TIME ONLY!)
sal_vager replied to Souper's topic in Kerbal Network
Okay Heckspress, but be aware you will need to use Heckspress to login. -
A few problems here
sal_vager replied to Ronnieuk's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
I have heard that the MJ UI has caused lag for some players, trying to do UI elements in a Unity plugin is pretty slow. If you remove the MJ plugin it should still load the craft but Mechjeb will be disabled. -
I've only flown a plane once (Cessna 150) so it's hard to compare KSP to that, you don't get any real sense of just how much real planes can be like a rollercoaster from playing games (nearly lost my lunch that day). But I play flight sims and KSP feels a lot closer to things like FS9/FSX, Flight Unlimited, Flightgear and others now than it did previously. Now, no flight sim is 100% accurate either despite their claims, but they are good enough for entertainment. KSP may not be absolutely accurate, but really it depends how you're judging it, if you're a real world pilot you'd have more of a sense of things, armchair pilots not so much

We have options... The Addon Forum. Curse. KerbalStuff. Ckan. Dropbox Personal servers. Etc. All these give players and modders choice and control over where they want their work, and what happens to their work, non-Steam users cannot go to the Steam workshop and download an addon, and Valve may not have modders best interests in mind as we recently learned.

Homeopathy, crystal healing, reiki and chakras
sal_vager replied to peadar1987's topic in Science & Spaceflight
This is just a reminder to everyone that homeopathy, crystal healing, reiki and chakras are not supported by any scientific body or falsifiable evidence, all such evidence for homeopathy, crystal healing, reiki and chakras is purely anecdotal. Normally pseudo-science discussion is dissuaded on these forums as it causes contention, it has been allowed so far in this case but if this thread turns to argument it will have to be closed. Thank you for your time Update: This thread has had to be closed due to repeated attempts by online retailers to post advertisements for alternative treatments. -
Shadows
sal_vager replied to Benno Rules Gaming's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Hi Benno, please see the support stickies and provide your game logs including the settings.cfg and dxdiag Shadows should be on by default. -
Hi BrokenPhysics, the x86_64 version of KSP for Linux does not include the LC_ALL=C localization fix that is present in the KSP.x86 binary. Please delete your settings.cfg and use "LC_ALL=C ./KSP.x86_64" to start the game, you will need to do this each time so it's it's best to make a shell script or if using Steam add "LC_ALL=C %command%_64" to the launch options. Ninja'd!

A very specific problem
sal_vager replied to MatterBeam's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Alright, I'll admit I'd never have thought of this, in my Windows experience with XP and a little Vista I either ran as admin all the time (dangerous) or got fed up with UAC (annoying). I'm glad you figured how to fix this, and I'm sorry I was so dismissive.
