  1. That is just gorgeous, I don\'t suppose you can find us a bigger version of that beauty?
  2. I just installed this version which is listed on the site as the free download, and it is this version that has the one time only, 30 day trial. Here is the screen the 'free' version of Unity displays. And here is the EULA in the installer. From the Unity3D free version End User Licence Agreement on the website. The 'Free' version of Unity3D is trialware with a 30 day limit, when you first run the software you have to register for a one time only licence, after 30 days you have to uninstall and stop using the software or pay $1500 for the desktop edition of Unity3D. Continuing to use Unity3D after 30 days without paying for it is in breach of the EULA you agree to when registering the software, potentially putting users at risk of legal action against them. Continuing to use a product after your right to use it has expired without paying for it is theft, it\'s like keeping a hire car after the lease expires. If I\'m wrong about this I\'d really like to know, as I want to make mods using the new system and a lot of people who are making mods want to continue to do so, maybe Squad should have their legal team look at this as most players aren\'t going to pay much attention to it, as they will ignore EULA\'s and think it doesn\'t apply to them.
  3. Hi, I\'d like to know if there is any other way to use the new system with software other than Unity3D, as I just managed to install it but it\'s requiring me to register for a one time only 30 day trial. I have not progressed beyond that screen as I am reluctant to start using a product that may expire in 30 days and then cost me $1500 to 'upgrade', this point may be moot anyway as Unity3D may not work correctly or at all in Wine. The demo version may well keep working after the 30 days with a nag screen, but continuing to use it after that point isn\'t strictly legal because of the terms of use you agree to when installing. I understand the game will maintain backwards compatibility with the DAE files for the time being, but I have also recently found it is not possible to do something as simple as a texture change without using Unity3D. What I (and I expect others as well) would like is a plugin for blender that can handle exporting to the new file format if this is possible. I, like many people who play KSP, do not have $1500 to spend on a developer tool I may only use for a few addons.
  4. These lights are brilliant Alexander.O, I\'m surprised no one else has made any like these, they are so useful
  5. Okay I don\'t mind having the range limit on remote control, but hearing you can make the surface following ASAS possible is great It may need to do a little more than just point 90 degrees to the horizon though, as most aircraft will lose altitude unless they are nose up, and people will want to cruise, so the system may have to add/subtract the current pitch, roll and yaw angle of the craft to the horizon and hold that constant. Also space stations may not be left in an absolute attitude, so players need to be able to set the special ASAS going where they choose. As to colour, I think it definitely falls between the blue remote control and the green scanner (for flight info) so yeah, cyan is a good choice
  6. My ship needs ASAS and more fuel to make it easier to fly, but even then, the collision bug is too much of a pain, I need a better claw design.
  7. Ahh well that\'s where you learn from my experience, you don\'t have to park your ship on a pod, pods can roll!
  8. They are better known as artificial horizons, in spacecraft they are kept level with gyroscopes, while the spacecraft rotates around them.
  9. I didn\'t think you could invert the command pod, you could just stick an RCS tank or decoupler on top, stick a chute on top of that and mount the legs to the tank/coupler. Then mount engines facing both ways and disable the ones you don\'t want to use.
  10. Can do, I have seen it done with RCS but it looks hard work, and the claw can break easily, so you want to be landed so you can save the game really.
  11. Even opening the chute at high altitude was enough to throw the pod out of the claw quite violently, so I doubt you could land on rocket thrust, you wouldn\'t be able to risk enough thrust to actually slow down. Difference between orbit and not orbit? Well if you leave a capsule in a safe orbit it\'s easy to get back to, and won\'t fall out of the sky, if it\'s just dropped at random you might have real trouble catching it again. If you have a ship with the claw on top then the capsule has nowhere to go when you decelerate, so you can bring it down safe, but a top mounted claw can\'t scoop capsules from moons
  12. My craft did actually pick up a stranded capsule from the Munar surface, and can grab them in space too The problem with the chutes is that the sudden deceleration throws the capsule against the claw legs with enough force to smash them off and send your poor Kerbals to their doom, you need another craft design that can hold the capsule on top rather than below, but there\'s no reason why you can\'t use this kind of craft to get the capsule into a safe orbit, then grab it later with a descent capable ship.
  13. The claw is pretty basic, I\'ll see if I can dig out one of my pics. Here we are, the Fieldsman in orbit around Kerbin, this mission was a success but as you say, a capsule needs a chute or it will break free when the rescue craft deploys it\'s own parachute, I tried to transfer a chute by editing the persistence file but it didn\'t work, one craft exploded and the other froze in space.
  14. Mechjeb does show you your altitude and velocity, and in that regard it is a very good tool, but just having it installed is a temptation to use it, and it can do almost all your flying for you. Not only that but having it can make other dubious of whether you were flying your craft, or mechjeb, this wouldn\'t be a problem with your Lazor as even with remote control, you are still in control and doing things manually, which I think is a really great feature of your Lazor. Remote control of your own craft might be interesting, as it would be a new way to manually fly without having a computer do all the work for you, even if we can point and click like in EVE it\'d still be manual control and require the players concentration, it could be fun Edit!: Romfarer, I have an idea how we can get more people using your Lazor, there are a lot of players who are crying out for a way to have their airplanes and orbiters keep level with the planet below when ASAS is enabled, instead of the current behaviour where craft remain stationary relative to the universe. They basically want their craft to automatically tilt at the correct rate so they keep the same part facing the body they are orbiting or flying over. You already mentioned remote control of your own craft, well this is a feature these players have been asking for for ages, it just needs to work like ASAS, they\'ll deactivate it to steer, and if it can also work on other craft and remember its state the same way Tosh\'s cart does with its brakes and lights, players will use it to make tidally locked space stations The Lazor will become the must have mod
  15. I better sort my pics out and post mine as well, there are so many though, I was spamming the F1 key.
  16. Sounds good I was wondering also if it\'s worth making some features later for use on your own craft, now we have aircraft it\'d be amazing if the Lazor were able to show the forces acting on it, it\'s center of mass, thrust and lift, and other stuff useful for craft design, obviously it could only show these in the flight scene but it\'d be a bit like in orbiter where forces can be displayed. Don\'t worry about this for now though, it\'s just an idea, but if anyone can make that work it\'s you
  17. Hi Khennes There are lots of player made tutorials you can try but I\'ll tell you a few things here so you don\'t have to look. Once in orbit just wait for the Mun to rise over the horizon and fire your engines, you\'ll see your orbit expand in the map screen as you gain speed, and when you get to a point where you will intercept the Mun you\'ll see the patched conics system kick in, it\'s only visible on the map though. Hope this helps
  18. New evidence comes to light! This recently declassified photo shows this 'moon' has begun to melt! Are our moons not safe from the global warming menace as well?!
  19. I\'m less worried about how it looks and more interested in what it can do and how to control it, obviously it\'d track the locked target or point in the direction you set it in with the mouse, I think zoom is important but if it\'s a scope it could be better with set zoom levels you can click on, just as if you were changing eyepieces. That would help set an absolute range as well just like a real scope, it\'d just depend on what eyepieces we get, the image could also get dimmer the further you 'zoom'
  20. Vincent, I think some people take the world of Kerbal Space Program far too seriously, even going so far as to discuss the history of a lumpy green icy moon that was plonked down into the game only days ago. I think it\'s pretty safe to assume at this point that the Kerbol star system has no relation to Sol, HarvesteR and the team can be inventive, but I\'m also pretty sure Harv likes his mint flavoured icy treats
  21. It was harder, and the new feature is great, I wouldn\'t be without it now, but may of us get more pleasure from the difficulty it used to present, but that was just with the build. The actual flight with something like this will still be hard, unless the game is better at checking node_colliders now you\'ll have lots of scary moments whenever you reload with a capsule in the claw
  22. Kerbin\'s government would have us believe an entire moon has lain hidden from the population for centuries, that it is some kind of captured ice comet, when everyone knows any moon worth it\'s tidal forces is good hard rock. The Kerbol\'s trusty tabloid reporters have spent hundreds of seconds researching this story, and have found that a secret organization known only by the mysterious name of Squad has been working behind the scenes, and has ties to the ice cream mafia. Secret night launches of heavy, black painted rockets, and the sudden rise in price of mint softscoop can only mean one thing, Minmus is made of ice cream! The evidence is damming, the Kerbol has examined the images released by the 'Space Program' and it\'s clear this 'new moon' is Kerman made, most likely with tools similar to this! This image clearly shows the scoop marks in this hastily assembled moon. Further evidence in the photo above is the lack of stars, everyone knows there\'s stars in space right?, just look up at night, unless it\'s cloudy! And there\'s more! Why are the Kerbals in every photo wearing helmets? Is it to protect them from the lack of air? NO, it\'s to protect them from the smell of mint or they\'d be too tempted to start eating Minmus! Have you ever seen a Kerman with a spoon in any official photo? More evidence! The Kerbols diligent reporters say that it\'s quite likely the mysterious Squad like ice cream, the links just keep adding up! There\'s even telling reports from ex-kerbolnauts cleaners that they overheard the first ever Minmus landing took place in an ice cream factory! So far the mysterious Squad have made no comment confirming or denying these allegations, yet more proof! New evidence comes to light! This recently declassified photo shows this 'moon' has begun to melt! Are our moons not safe from the global warming menace as well?!
  23. It may have been done, but it\'s still nice to see people try these things, the new ability to tilt parts makes it far too easy though, it\'s to late now to show off my nail biting flight to rescue a crew on the surface of the Mun as the tricks I had to do with the cart exploit will just be seen as old hat now.
  24. Very cool, but then everything you make is brilliant.
