The Official Realism Overhaul Craft Repository.

Yeah............ Experiencing some technical difficulties. I decided to build another lander except this was a direct land and return one. 180 tons. Then I built a scaled up N1 to get it to the Moon. It didn't go so well. Returning to the Apollo style mission. I'm going to go back to my original plan. Do it like the Ares missions. The question is whether I build another lander or not. But I haven't given up! I will post updates soon. Fire -
Still counting down. No confirmation of scrub so... I assume we're still on. Fire

Wow that is so awesome! How did you put it together? KIS/KAS? Either way, great job! Fire

Haha. Once took a medium size cargo SSTO to an arch. Brought a small very badly built rover too. Had fun until the solar panels broke and I had to fly the Kerbals in EVA back to the SSTO. I am horrible at pinpoint landings. Especially with Nervas. And Jeb ran out of EVA propellant so he had to walk back. He had this glitch where when he walked or ran, he would twitch a lot and this slowed him down. But eventually the entire crew got back and all returned safely to Kerbin. Fun times. Fire

That is a flipping cool shuttle. Great job man! Fire

20-40 degrees Fahrenheit. Snow storm tonight. Sledding tomorrow. Fire

Wait this one is expendable? Aww shoot. I like when they try to land it. Fire

Nice SSTO! Looks really aesthetically pleasing. Just instead of a vector, why not try adding an aerospike? The only downside to the aerospike in my mind is the lack of gimbal which is accounted for by the wings. It is made for spaceplanes! Fire

Nevermind, actually read your posts. Great SSTO!. Fire

Better Looking Farings
Firemetal replied to Garrett Kerman's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I agree. You should have multiple textures that you can choose from. The current one is pretty ugly imo. Fire -
Things have gone a little over the top in RO. Before this, I actually had a plan. Apollo style or Ares style lunar landing mission with one or two launches depending on the mission style. Well I decided to go with single launch since I'm lazy. However, first the second stage didn't have enough TWR to get into orbit before falling back into the atmosphere so I added moar engines. So then I got into LEO but I had only 2200 m/s left and Trans-lunar injection requires around 3200 m/s. So I messed around with different designs for a bit, some were just edited version of the original and some were just different rockets altogether. Then things started straying off from the original plan. I decided that another plausible mission plan would be a direct mission to the Moon's surface and back to Earth meaning that there is no return vehicle left in orbit, the whole thing is the lander and the return vehicle at once. And I was trying to make it practical! I ended up with a pretty good two stage 180 ton spacecraft that could carry 3 kerbals and support them all for over 100 days. 180 tons. How the hell am I going to get that to the Moon? Well not with a little dinky Ares V, that is for sure. I mean that kind of rocket is a baby rocket. I've got 18000 tons in a 3 stage rocket and it has way more than enough DV to get 180 tons to the moon and probably to Mars. But that's it for now. Fire

Now damn... Simple but effective. Love it! Fire

I agree with Majorjim. Awesome work, man! Love the fact that the trailers are interchangeable! Great job! Fire

Banned for living on Earth.

You are a bottle rocketeer. Cheater! We all know bottles lack the TWR to get off the ground!

Alright thanks! Alright, I couldn't find a download button anywhere so I copy and pasted the entire thing into my current file. Will that work or is there a way to download it, it was probably right in front of me, and I'm missing it? Fire

Lost in mind-KSP expression poetry series
Firemetal replied to cratercracker's topic in KSP Fan Works
Aww man these are good! Both are great. Nice rhymes. Great work mate. Fire -
Hi all. I'm running the RO pre-release with only a couple of necessary mods and procedural parts and procedural fairings. I have a big problem with these fairings though. Whenever I go to launch pad from VAB and the spacecraft loads or whenever I take off with the fairings on, my screen shakes as if it is going through a lot of g-force and then the fairings fall apart. There is no reason at all they should fall off unless I want them too. Also this has happened with multiple rockets. Anyway, has anyone else experienced something similar? Do I need to post screenshots? Thanks. Fire

Yeah, I think it is a Kraken related glitch. Once I built a Saturn V and made it very rigid. I even used autostrut but it kept wiggling out of contro and blowing up at a certain point during launch. Then I launched it again and it didn't. Keep in mind that this was stock. The only way I could explain it was the Kraken. Fire -
More updates on LLM-1. Mission hopefully takes off tomorrow! Fire

@Nittany Tiger Struts usually work for me, not sure. Maybe a kraken attack related physics glitch? Hopefully flying LLM-1 tomorrow, just debating whether to do it in one or two launches. Here is the lunar orbiter and its launch vehicle. This will launch if I fly the two launch mission and dock to the lander & transfer stage in LEO before executing TLI. Now here is the Single launch configuration. This I thought might work since it is only adding around 20 tons to a 250 ton second stage & lander and 3115 ton launch vehicle, payload, second stage and all. Except instead of acting like an Ares V, it acts like a Saturn V. Same mission plan basically. Though I get more DV if I do it with two launches. This has about 1100 to make mistakes with. But I kind of like the idea of one launch more. Quicker, less tedious, more efficient. The only thing the two launch config does better is DV. But they both have more than enough to do it. But that's it for now. Fire -
Big sandwich going up in next Kerbal Space Program launch? The Kerbal Snacks in Space company attached a bunch of avionics and solar power to a giant sandwich recently and have asked KSP to take it up to a KEO synchronous orbit around Kerbin. Snacks Kerman said the following. "We have never done this before. This is a great leap forward in snack technology. It will be quite a hard mission but if we are meant for space, we'll get it up there." Yes. As he said this is quite a big task but it is doable. It will go up in a Kraken II launch in a month. The Kraken II is a two stage launch vehicle with a payload capacity of about 30 tons to LKO and 8 tons to KTO. The sandwich will have a small propulsion unit for the circularization burn at Apoapsis. The launch is scheduled for Kapril 1st 2017. Big sandwich launch cancelled? After a few slight complications, the Kraken II launch has been cancelled. Apparently, the engineers got very hungry when they received the sandwich.
