I use to use the TVR-2160C Mk2 Stack Quad-Coupler with four Sparks. Then I switched to radial mounted 24-77 "Twitch" Liquid Fuel Engine for landers and simply landed on the Quad-Coupler. It doesn't use much more fuel than the Terrier and has almost four times the thrust in the atmosphere. I am not sure why I stopped use it. Probably because I have been land on moons with no atmosphere lately. I should revisit that for my planned trip to Laythe. It should be noted, I play in sandbox, so expense is not an issue.

I have seen other people say this, but the only time I ever had a slide problem was when I had SAS enabled. Although I am very meticulous at picking flat places to land on Mun.

Pre-dawn at the South Pole of Mun. I mostly did this because I still do not know how all the comm stuff and relays work. So, I thought I would just simplify it by put a ship at a pole. Mun is close, and I had never visited the Saucer before... The right side is illuminated by my two seat rover, The left side is the sun rising. Kerbol really barely sets, so that helps produce solar energy almost full time too. This location is in a bit of a valley, but at nearly 4,8000 m, I actually do keep almost constant communication and solar panel generation going. I have a space station too in a polar orbit that is tangential to the orbit of Kirbin, I am not sure how that works. It is just under 50 km. I am thinking it will not stay tangential, but will rotate around the Mun, progressing in relation to the Mun/Kerbin orbital plane. The orbit is useful for transferring Kerbals from the Mun to the space station, but I am thinking not so much for trips from Kerbin to the space station and back. Oh well. It does simplify the communications, but now offers other problems to solve. :-)

It appears that the up coming Windows 10 Creators Update will include a Game Mode. I am having trouble finding specifics on what that means. Indications are that it will suspend background processes and run the game in near exclusive mode, given the game highest priority over CPU, GPU and RAM. Does anyone have more details or thoughts on what we might gain?

I really only have time to play on weekends. But I see no good reason for KSP to sit idle when I am not here. So, I once did a real time trip to Minmus. I am at 618 hours, but I wasn't even here for a big chunk of that.

I am not seeing any Brian Eno in the list, I think you should consider stuff like Apollo: Atmospheric Sound Tracks and the Prophecy Theme.

Wow! Your mining bus looks really cool!

Make sure it is exactly 256x160 and is saved as a png file. Put it in the proper folder. In my Stream addition the location is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program\GameData\Squad\Flags Here is a video that might help"

I have an unmanned rover floating in the seas of Laythe. I didn't even know rovers could float until I missed the island.

I screwed up majorly and need some help

I have a friend who is a pilot who told me it is much harder to land a plane in KSP than it is in real life.

Problems with liquid engines
Ty Tan Tu replied to xxXHonestJohnXxx's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
A screen shot would help. It just occurred to me that if it is an unmanned craft, it is possible you lost communication with it and have limited control. Just as a general tip, you can 'fix' that from the alt+F12 menu. Click on 'Input Locks' and then the "Clear Input Locks' bar. -
Problems with liquid engines

I doesn't sound like it because you say you hear a puff sound, but are you sure it is not some staging issue? After you get rid of a stage you need to hit the space bar again to activate the next stage -
Welcome aboard. I thought I would go ahead and translate this to save others the trouble. I personally do not know much about planes, but I am sure there are others who do. Posdrav People I'm Unknown Account x1 and I'm here to meet you. I'm new here and I do not know English percent add google translator. i have a question how to fly a plane into the game with LY-01 Fixed Landing Gear and LY-05 Steerable Landing Gear because I do not know how to fly planes. but I know how to go to the moon and other planets. I is Bosnia and Herzegovina

One tip. If you can accomplish it without using extra fuel, put your spacecraft in a clockwise orbit around Mun. That way you can do a pro-grade burn on the far side of Mun that will lower your Kerbin orbit. Do it just right and you can use the Kerbin atmosphere to air break, using very little fuel on your return trip.

Just a newby observation, but I found that SAS was the culprit for one of my Mun landers. After I turned that off, my lander stayed put.

This is a pretty well done easy to understand tutorial on orbital mechanics from NASA. It is were I started. https://solarsystem.nasa.gov/basics/bsf3-4.php

I made it!

I tried to land on Duna, but messed up pretty badly. I was thinking I could use a LV-909 "Terrier" in conjunction with a parachute on my lander. Boy was I wrong. The "Terrier" did not provided enough thrust in the Duna atmosphere to slow me down enough to even deploy the chute. As Kurt Vonnegut would say "And so it goes." After spending a great deal of time getting to Duna, only to crash, upset me quite a bit, so I decided I needed a success to lift my spirits. I sent a lander to Mun and visited the Neil Armstrong Memorial. Now back to the drawing board for Duna! I think I will try the old venerable LV-T30 "Reliant" this time. :-)

Can't turn ship on takeoff.
Ty Tan Tu replied to Rozencrantze's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Advanced Inline Stabilizer? Like Snark says we would have to see your ship, but I once had an Advanced Inline Stabilizer that was fighting against my command module. What kind of command module are you using and where is it in conjunction to the stabilizer? -
It does seem counter intuitive, but Windows 10 does actually handle DLLs better. Different programs share one instance of a DLL in memory. Maybe Windows 7 is loaded multiple instances of the same DLL in different places in the RAM?

Engine will not throttle
Ty Tan Tu replied to Ty Tan Tu's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
That is what happened. My comm is now out of range of the comm net. It makes sense that it only happened after my escape from Kerbin. Oh well, now I know who to cheat and 'fix' that. -
Engine will not throttle
Ty Tan Tu replied to Ty Tan Tu's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I think I solved it myself. I went into the F12 debug window and click on 'Input Locks', I clicked on 'Clear Input Locks' and the engine throttles again. I just do not know what I did to cause that? -
I am on my way to Duna and just escaped form Kerbin, but now I can only control my engine with the 'Z' key. It will not throttle. It is all or nothing. When I right click on it, I can't change the trust either, it is stuck at 100%, so I am thinking it is not a keyboard issue. It is a basic LV-T45. The only mod I have is MechJeb, but it is not enabled. Is there some way I can get control of the engine again?
