I for my part prefer to have the allergies I have, instead of the diseases against usually gets vaccinated

Vac trains were already planned for switzerland (although not of the Mag Lev variety but standard trains on rail ... just with evacuated tunnels through which they were supposed to move). http://www.articlesextra.com/swiss-metro-alps-tunnel.htm The biggest obstacle AFAIK still are the high costs. Nevertheless IMHO this is a good means of transpotation for the future (no matter whether of the MagLev variety or Swiss Metro-like). You don´t have any above ground railtracks that take away precious building space, it is clean and it is energy efficient.

I think already the funny little thing about far away objects sinking below the horizon (like ships/land masses on the ocean) may be difficulty to explain with a flat earth model (at least if we assume a totally flat earth and not one with a certain curvature)

Intricacies of the tapeworm lifecycle (and its evolution)?
Godot replied to vger's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Well, Tapeworm-Lyfecycles are much shorter than those of humans or pigs -> evolutional changes happen faster. and due to the huge number of offspring they also get a large population running with the new features More or less one of the reasons why also bacteriae adapt so fast to new antibiotics. Lots of recombinations (due to the short generation span and the possibility of "sexual" reproduction) and huge rate of reproduction of those that survive antibiotics -
Good to know ... so the declining market prices in the "beginners cluster" have let the market prices fall below those on the boards. (due to the lots of other people selling those goods) But I´d definitely recommend checking twice for locations abroad from the well traveled "beginners cluster" ... like the cluster that begins with Rakapila. Guess the market prices there still are higher than the board prices
-
Hm, last time I checked (although this is maybe a week ago), prices from the bulletin board were worse than the prices you get by selling at the market

With other words, now that we have space plankton, we need to introduce space krill (which feeds on the space plankton), before we can introduce space whales

If it weren´t for the fact that only the active household ages and gets simulated (and all others stays static and don´t age) Sims 2 would be the best part of the series

New cargo lifter concept by VW... Looks like right out of KSP
Godot replied to Frank_G's topic in Science & Spaceflight
And I guess even for this purpose there were better concepts ... like Cargolifter ... which tried to revitalize the long forgotten german tradition of building large airships http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CargoLifter much fewer fuel consumption if you don´t have to care about fighting gravity with your engines -
Yep, my HDDs are divided into several Partitions ... and C is only used for the OS and a few other basic programs ... and despite C: having 100 GB, Windows is on the brink of filling it up

Depends on the means of transportation used ... not with a Space Shuttle, after all I know from the accident reports of the 2 crashes. But with a Soyuz? Yes, please

Please disprove the theory of evolution to me
Godot replied to Monkeh's topic in Science & Spaceflight
But that is not really a surprise IMHO.The belief of many forms from (especially american) christian fundamentalism is, that the bible ism literally true. Which includes the old testament and the conclusions a certain priest drew from it (about the age of earth according to the generation count in the bible) Therefore, if something contradicts the Bible must be per definitionem false, because else, the bible (or rather, the belief of the christian fundamentalists in the literal truth of the bible) is false ... which, of course, cannot be (I honestly have to say that , even without the contradictions between bible and scientific theories and the bibles internal inconsistencies, there is a lot wrong with a belief in the literal truth of the bible ... just look at the depictions of god in the old testament ... as a being which orders genocide (the Armalekites), treats women as wares and supports slavery to name just a few) So, their fight against the ToE is more a fight for the survival of their personal faith -
Please disprove the theory of evolution to me

The Planet-Designers of Magratea did a very good job with placing the evidence to lead us to these conclusions -
Technicality requirement of scientific papers.
Godot replied to mardlamock's topic in Science & Spaceflight
The problem is that this is the basics of scientific papers ... that is, to research through older papers about the same topic and then, on basics of this, display (as an introduction) what former researchers did and what you do differently in your experiments (all the while observing the rules of citation) (and, of course, then describing/displaying your experimental setup in a way that the experiment can be reproduced by other researchers ... and, ideally, comparing your experimental results with that of other works) -

O.K.: The Flying Spaghettimonster created the world and everything living on it. But, being a perfectionist, even during this day he tries to improve everything it created and stretches it noodly appendages out in order to twist here a gene and there a gene to change species (after all it is easier to use already created species as material, than to create something totaly new ... the FSM is lazy, ya know ) It once had a phase where it liked giant lizardlike creatures ... but it grew tired from playing with them and had the great idea, to throw an asteroid on earth and then look how it could change the small ratlike creatures to be more successful. Unfortunately the result was desastrous, because after several iterations of changing and testing species, the Homo sapiens sapiens was created ... with its destruction, wars and belief in false gods -
Aerobraking from 7Km/s to 5Km/s?
Godot replied to Kulebron's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
If you use a crewed vehicle it sounds to me you have a problem no matter what you do ... aerobraking at a too high speed will kill your crew nevertheless, as they are exposed to too high G-Forces -
Big Screenshots is Alt + F10 But be warned ... your HDD space shrinks rapidly when using it too often
-
Yep, a Hauler also allows you to jump from Aulin to Rakapila if you don´t load it full (I think 8-9 t max) opening a totally new cluster of stars to you
-
I agree that a planet would be a little bit big, which is why I also mentioned moons ... with which I thought about perhaps one of the moons of the next gas giant that is bound to come, assuming that it has as many moons as Jool, or maybe even more An asteroid designation sounds interesting as well, however
-
-
Maybe one of the coming planets or moons should be named Ork in rememberance of Robin Williams role as Mork of Ork
-
Robin Williams was found dead in his appartment ... apparently suicide. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-28749702 Rest in peace and thanks for all the movies ... you will be missed
