While control of the gecko-...-satellite has been reestablished, it is unclear if the geckos still have ... http://www.themoscowtimes.com/business/article/russia-not-sure-what-has-become-of-space-geckos/504661.html

Movie and book copyright going against its intended purpose
Godot replied to Sun's topic in The Lounge
There have been many SciFi-Movies about fighting an evil force in space (actually I guess a rather large percentage of SciFi-Movies is about this topic ) ... some of them even feature elements of Star Wars ... just look at the wookie like creature with the axe that keeps one of the female protagonists as prisoner in "The war in space" (Wakusei Daisenso) (1977) .. or look at Space Balls Movie Makers just aren´t able to make movies set in the Star Wars universe itself -
What should be worked on after .24?
Godot replied to skyace65's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Maybe a 24.5-version with comets ... in cooperation with ESA -
How would zero gravity affect future generations
Godot replied to TarkinLarson's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Unfortunately this is true ... which is why I mentioned ethics. Today even mice or gerbils might cause a oublic uproar, if any fanatical animal protection groups are able to convince the public that the animals get tortured during the experiments (even if it isn´t true) -
How would zero gravity affect future generations
Godot replied to TarkinLarson's topic in Science & Spaceflight
While maybe not all too ethical, one could do experiments on the ISS. Send a pregnant non human mammal to ISS and keep it there till the pregnancy comes to an end ... be it by one way or the other. (or alternatively, keep several non human mammals of mixed genders on the ISS with the aim of getting one of them pregnant) One could even go further and, in case of a successful pregnancy, keep the offspring there during its youth years in order to see how it grows up (and maybe at one point, when it is grown up, geti it down to earth). (as for the kind of mammals ... maybe dogs, cats, or even just gerbils or mice) Would surely yield interesting results from which one could draw conclusions about larger animals (like humans, for example) -
How would zero gravity affect future generations
Godot replied to TarkinLarson's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I´d guess that their bones and skeletal musculature (as well as heart) would be weaker than that of children born and raised on earth, as they (and their heart) wouldn´t have to fight gravity. It´s even questionable if they would ever learn to walk (after all the crawl/learn to walk stage would require gravity) -
Thanks ... hooked it up to one of the buttons of my Saitek X52 HOTAS, as well as the Cargo Scoop. Also had the dubios pleasure of getting shot by one notorious Playerkiller. Well, I was in a Hauler, so no surprise ... hopefully, next time I´ll see him I will be in something that is vastly superior to his Viper

Or until we are able to design the suborbital shuttles much larger than conventional planes, so that a single suborbital fligh transports the passenger load of sevral conventional planes, so that the polllution per passenger delines rapidy

You have to decide for yourself if she is it worth to you to wait, till maybe at one later day she may be ready for a relationship. The danger always is there that she may see dating you just as a transitional solution, till she´ll find her Prince Charming, with whom she won´t hesitate to get into a close relationship after the first dates. But nothing keeps you from seeing dating her only as a transitional solution as well

IIRC no ... in MUDs, yes, but not in mud

Well, japanese always is a mixtue of Kanji (that are japanized chinese signs) and Kana (Hiragana or Katakana, in this case, as almost always, Hiragana) So if you just use a table with Hiragana you are missin the all important Kanji signs And nope, I cannot translate it as well ... while I introduced myself to a few basics of the japanese language many many years ago, I didn´t even get to the proficiency to read the Tokyo Shinbun (which would require the knowledge of 2000+ Kanji signs )

Maybe ... but maybe this would require the customers to get much better computers than the average Sims-Buyer currently has, in order to play such a version of a Sims-Game. It also may make such a Sims Game more prone to bugs ... just rmeember how buggy Sims 3 plays if you don´t use lots of NRAAS` mods
-
A seamless area also has its disadvantages ... I don´t know if you have Late night ... but if you have, you might find one thing often missing in the clubs and bars of the city: Customers Except from maybe the hot spot of the night, you will often be hard pressed to find more than 1-2 customers in most nightlife locations. That was different in Sims 2 with its not open world (as here, customers just got created upon loading ... partially filler customers 8that were just new created sims, which weren´t members of the neighborhood) and partially members of the Sims neighborhood). This way, nightlife locations and restaurants in Sims 2 had the amounts of customers they deserved
-
Actually that is no problem IMHO ... the best Sims of all times, Sims 2 also had no open world. As far as I know, EA decided to use a mix of Sims 2 and Sims 3 for Sims 4 in these regards: No open world BUT Story Progression and Aging also for non active households (actually this was the only thing that made Sims 3 a little bit better than Sims 2 in my eyes, i.e. that in Sims 3 you were not forced to play all other households from time to time, in order to prevent paradoxa like children suddenly turning older than their parents)

Actually Germany with DASA/DLR may be a prime contributor with regards to funding, but unfortunately that doesn´t mean anything with regards to decision power within the ESA. Else ESA would already make steps for its first moon mission by now. Out scientists (i.e. DASA/DLR) made plans for an unmanned moon probe that was supposed to land on Moon by 2018 and presented the project to the other ESA member states in 2012. Unfortunately the other member states were too cheese-paring and so the funding for the Moon Lander was stopped and I guess we can expect that even North Korea will launch a Moon mission sooner than ESA. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunar_Lander_%28space_mission%29#Current_project_status

Antennas are also among the things that have to be researched ... or, more specific (as the first one): The Low Gain antenna. You normally should find it among the parts in the left list of the research menu

What is this device you call a 'telescope'
Godot replied to impwarhamer's topic in Science & Spaceflight
It is an important difference which enables you to see much fainter objects and allows you to use a higher magnification. Aside from this I don´t see any other important difference, as both have the same focal ratio. One should add that it is rather not nice, that the shop left out the specifications for the Skywatcher 150P (so that I had to look elsewhere: http://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/language/en/info/p2687_Skywatcher-Explorer-150P---150-750mm-Newtonian---2--Crayford.html ) and also didn´t include informations about equipment that is delivered with the telescope (like eyepieces for example) -

The difference ist 20mm -
"Perfect Research" ... dunno if what I do is perfect research, but in the beginning I click all level 1 nodes EXCEPT those that are needed for the Zero G Probe. The research nods for the Zero G Probe are expensive and the probe itself is expensive as well, so you might prefer to research it later. ALso be aware that, after researching the environmental analysis station (EAS) you are getting a few missions per zone which don´t pay well and should better be done with the simple probe (that you have from the beginning on) instead of the small lander
-
Nope, not exactly like in KSP. The most important difference: For each module (be it an instrument, a chassis and so on) you need to research multiple nodes across the several tech trees you have. What nodes you need to research for a module you can see by clicking the module in the list on the left side and then following the white lines, which guide you to each node that has to be researched in order for the module to become unlocked. Also, the deciding factor for many missions (to become available) is, which instruments you have unlocked. Therefore the primary priority for you should be, to research the first instruments ... the most important one for the beginning is EAS followed by the Soil Probe and the APXS(as they unlock new missions). Also, always be aware that, in contrast to KSP, you´re running on a very tight budget and you always have to think about, whether you should use a rover, a lander or a cheaper alternative ... and also, how to configure the lander or rover in order to fulfill multiple missions instead of a single one (yes, the landers also can move ... usually you have plenty of fuel left after your first landing, which you can use to fly the lander to an additional mission location ... sometimes even 2, if they aren´t too far away from each other) The tight budget also means that it is advisable not to put everything into research, but always keep enough money for a replacement vehicle (to the vehicle you´re going tosend out on your next mission). Else it might happen that it is more or less game over for you, if your rover or lander gets broken before you accomplish its mission (well, not literally game over ... but you won´t have any more money to build a vehicle which you need in order to earn money ... so you´re out of action)

Economically Refuel Your Spacestation (How?)
Godot replied to Riph's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
The most important thing is the docking clamp on the orange tank (and another one on the station). After you docked the tugand tank basically become part of the station ... that means, if you want to reuse the tug (instead of keeping it attached to the tank, which also is an option) you also have to have docking clamps between tug and orange tank. In this case you just undock the tug from the tank in order for it to become an independent spaceship again. Also, the tug of course also has to have a probe core ... not just engine, tank and docking clamp ... and enough batteries and solar cells to keep the probe core powered -
Nice one ... are there any buttons to raise/lower the landing gear and to communicate with the currently selected target in order to gain a landing permission, so that you don´t have to maneuver through the left/right screens? (Tried the "2"-Key for communicating with a station and acquire docking clearance ... but somehow it treated the station like another player or NPC ships with regards to the options offered ... only got the option to apply or docking clearance in the Communicate tab of the lft screen)

What is your Least Favourite Movie/TV Show/Game?
Godot replied to ShadowMasterZ's topic in The Lounge
Fascinating ... one doesn´t see these 2 series being mentioned often in "Worst ..."-Lists
