  1. The scene at 5:05 where the ship launches with the mechas in the foreground is epic. A perfect ending to go with a perfect score.
  2. Yup. That's what I'm thinking too. I'll stick with what I've got.
  3. Today I saw this: It made my day. (Rocky & Bullwinkle re-fight the civil war at the Wossamotta University stadium.)
  4. Firstly, I'm beginning to find my username a little common and boring. So my question is, will there be anyone who will care if I change username, or am I lowly enough to change it without anyone noticing? I've a mind to change it to @Boris Badenov. So go ahead, vote! That's what the poll is there for, and I'll be damned if I don't get at least 20 users voting on my username. (Those of you who don't know who Badenov is can find out in the spoiler.)
  5. Bitterest rivalry in all of sports: Bitterest rivalry in all of spaceflight: https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2019/05/18/spacex-is-suing-government-once-again-reason-is-secret/?utm_term=.41080e1e3253
  6. There was evidence of damage. The orbiter emitted a plume. And even so, astronaut's lives shouldn't be gambled with based on a "widespread belief." The fact that nobody tested to make sure until afterward is incredible. Later missions at least conducted fly-byes of the ISS to inspect for damage.
  7. Aussies are some of the greatest people on earth, even if they are a little crazy.
  8. I would argue that in both cases, the main fault lay with the controllers on the ground. Challenger was launched in extreme conditions against the warnings of engineers, and flight control noticed the foam strike on Columbia, but decided to disregard it.
  9. Howdy mate. This is a great story you've begun. Keep up the good work. The Dunatian is following the Eloosians.
  10. You know fellows, I still can't decide whether that new animation is a salute or this gesture:
  11. That's a beautiful plane you've built. Perhaps you should consider using auto-strut to eliminate those inconvenient struts along the body and reduce part count.
  12. I think I can speak for 0.1% of this community when I say: What loading screen?
  13. I'm getting the "array" issue on my location and interests as well.
  14. Casablanca is a true masterpiece. As for Lawrence of Arabia, I've never really cared much for it. The plot and filming is superb, but I found the ending to be rather hollow and unsatisfactory. One newer movie that I personally enjoyed immensely was Darkest Hour. (Historical drama is my favorite genre and WW2 is my favorite period of history so I suppose there is a tinge of bias.) Gary Oldham's performance as Churchill was superb.
  15. Bah. What if KSP and SP were combined through synthesized development?
  16. I see we share a common interest in the realm of the fantastic. May I assume you are also a fan of J.R. Tolkien? I am intending to watch that movie some time this week. It's crazy that I enjoy space, history, and historical drama is my favorite genre, but I still haven't seen the movie yet.
  17. What is Your Favorite Movie Ever? (Oldies Included) Some members on this forum are true ancients. But I have heard that there are a few things so epic that even ancients don't forget them. Life milestones ( *ahem*) Over the hills and far away (40th BD, no escaping this one.) A really good movie The latter is what we will be focusing on in this discussion. What is the best movie that you have ever seen in your 17, 30, 40, ect. years? What is the most memorable moment that you can recall from that movie? Perhaps you favorite movie didn't achieve an off-the-charts rating, but you enjoyed it for a specific IRL reason or scene. This thread is the place where you can share these vintage moments with the forum. Just to make things clear though, I do have a selfish reason for firing up this thread. I myself am hunting for old movies that I should have watched by now, but have somehow slipped through my searches. So go ahead, find me the movies that I need to see. I will get things started by sharing (probably) the best scene of one of the best movies that I have seen up to this point: (In my opinion.) Zulu (1964)
  18. I warn you, do not get me started. I'm itching to take you apart.
  19. D-Day - June 6th, 1944 On June 6th, 1944, allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy in the largest amphibious invasion in history. Over 10,000 casualties resulted from the attack and more than 4,000 men were confirmed dead. These brave men sacrificed everything for their countries. They will never be forgotten. Today marks the 75th anniversary of the Normandy invasion, and the world pauses to remember the extraordinary sacrifice made by the men of the greatest generation. Let's all take a moment to remember those who gave so much for the cause of freedom on this day, 75 years ago. I pray that we will never lose the sense of patriotism and devotion to country that was the inspiration of this great generation. God bless America and all countries devoted to freedom around the world.
  20. You guys have it all wrong. Last one into the water is a stale baguette!
