What is the skybox in the first image? Great pack btw, will add it with my GPP mission save! Hopefully the 3.2x rescale doesn't mess up anything in relation to scatterer or other visuals.

I was messing around with some 10x stock Kerbol system Other than questionable stuff with scatterer (can anyone help me with this?), I found the mountains to be the most entertaining things.

We are progressing rather quickly towards manned Iota spaceflight, but some technological issues still need to be sorted out. A manned landing is still in the distant future, but a manned flyby? Chapter 7 - Daring Leaps Ilios II While the Solaris IV ship was being constructed, a 2nd mission was sent to land on Iota, the Delta Iota Lander Delta Iotian Lander And now.. the time has come for our biggest leap in spaceflight. At this moment in time, the farthest a Gaelan has gone outside of Gael is about 1,050 kilometers. This time, we plan to go out 50x farther. Our greatest scientists hypothesize that for every extra kilometer outside of 1k out of the atmosphere, 2% extra of normal radiation is absorbed by the pilot per day. We are currently still in development of radiation shielding for manned spacecrafts, but this works out to about to the flyby being limited to about 25 day trip or less to prevent any permanent radiation damage to the pilot. Solaris IV Year 4, Day 75 And now? We don't know. The ship is not equipped to communicate back with the ground for extremely long distances. At about 15,000 km, communication was lost. Until the ship passes back through that threshold, we won't know what happens to Kirbald. We will only know if once we get a signal, we hear a voice or not. Until then, Kirbald will be the loneliest Gaelan in existence. Once that happens, I will make sure to update the mission regardless of whether Kirbald comes back alive or dead. Best of luck to Kirbald and the Solaris IV ship -Jimeno Gaelan

BREAKING: Year 3, Day 389 The launch of Solaris IV is planned to occur in just a few months, and will undergo a manned flyby of Iota. Candidates are being chosen for the mission and one will be chosen soon. Kirbald Gaelan is the most likely candidate at this moment. While scientists are still very uncertain about the radiation, they believe that a Gaelan could survive up to 2 weeks in a capsule without any specialized protection against radiation. We are not fully sure yet, but Kirbald says he is up to the risk, even if this means his death in the pursuit of science. More details coming very shortly.

By far my favorite is Cosmonaut Crash and his RP-0 series. 421 full episodes, full on exploration of the cosmos. All very good, I suggest you check it out! https://www.youtube.com/user/TheCosmoCrash

Progress Update -Jimeno Gaelan Follow ups on the incident have concluded that the probe must have disintegrated following a false decouple inside the fairing. Most likely friction related. Fairing somehow withstood most of the friction and the potential fireball afterwards

I remember i had a problem in a previous career save where I only got female scientists. Turns out it was because I installed a real world name mod on top of Galileo Planet Pack's already altered names (______ Gaelan instead of _____ Kerman), and so it just messed everything up.

Was messing around in sandbox mode a bit This is why I love procedural parts

What is the most sucessful mission you've ever done?
CobaltShock replied to Virdin's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I really like that comment about someone asking what game it was. Really made you realize how fun & immersive KSP can really be without having to spend a penny other than buying the game itself! -
I mean, I have sent probes and I have sent Kerbals to the surface of other worlds. Most notable being a manned landing on Gratian in my GPP save like a year ago. I didn't have the fuel requirements to make it back, so I snapped and decided to use infinite fuel for the final stage back home. Other than that though, no landings of kerbals in the stock game. Only probes.

As I posted in the mission reports thread, I had enough time between now and my next final (Monday) that I thought I'd play a session of KSP in my 3.2x GPP save. Here's a couple pictures I did not post in the thread (since it was already very much picture heavy) Scatterer + Eve + Cryo Engines = Heaven

So, here we are. It is officially year 3, and we've still got a lot of funds in the bank. Just about enough to fund the entire Solaris program! We still need money for the research and unmanned missions to lead us up to the landings on Iota, so we've sparked up some contracts. Yes, it's official. We are going to put a Gaelan on Iota, whether it's sooner or later Chapter 6 - Getting There What In The World Just Happened? We are still in the relative dark ages in terms of our technology. Our R&D team has been attempting to develop a large bottom stage booster, but as of now the reliability isn't where we'd like it. Instead, our engineers improvised. It we want to land a probe on Iota, we're gonna have to earn it! 4 boosters were strapped together to make it appear as if it was one large booster. Genius! With this, we won't have to worry about the large booster having leaks. The perimeter of these boosters is a decent bit smaller. More like a mix between a 1.25 meter booster and a 2.5 meter booster. It's all we really need for now. Galileo Iotian Lander Solaris III And now.. back to work! Ilios I -Jimeno Gaelan

RPG-like Kerbal Progression
CobaltShock replied to 0something0's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Maybe some pre-determined traits? Like some recruits can develop some traits quicker? -
You don't need to go past the Kerbin system to have fun I have played since May of 2013, and I have never landed a kerbal on Duna, and brought them back alive. I've landed kerbals on Duna before, and I know for sure that I could create a sandbox save and do it in an hour, but I don't. I just play my career saves & mess around in sandbox mode. It's all fun
-
Well, a debris atmosphere made from debris around the Mun would assume that this was caused by Kerbals? Maybe a slightly less hostile, but still uninhabitable Eve, and a less hostile (and greener?) Duna.
-
Ok, I was actually able to play today (not enough for a chapter! Just a singular mission) in my mission reports save. Had some time to unwind before studying. Will not spoil anything, but here's 2 photos Yeah.. browsing through mission reports has gotten be really tempted to play..

How many planet packs can you put in a single KSP save?
CobaltShock replied to Alaygrounds's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
If all planet packs can use EVE + Scatterer, count me in -
At this moment and time, our space program is going rather swimmingly. While we haven't done much with manned spacecraft, we proved to Gael that we can launch probes towards other worlds. We still have a lot of testing to do until we can land on Iota, but I suspect it isn't far off. Chapter 5 - Iotian Sunrise With the launch of the Solaris manned program, our campaigning team have decided to go out and find more pilots, engineers, and scientists to add to our crew. While the salaries for these astronauts are rather hefty, we have the money to spare. Kirbald, Wilnda and Philemy, welcome to the team With the hiring process out of the way, it's about time we get back to building spacecrafts! While we've sent 2 manned spacecrafts to orbit Gael, we have not sent a single Gaelan out for an EVA. Our spacesuit technology has been there for quite a while, but our EVA propulsion technology has not. This is crucial to EVAs around Gael in terms of space stations and satellites, but not as much towards Iota spacewalks. Regardless, our R&D team got to work on that while our construction team got to work on the Solaris II Solaris II Again, back to work, but this time towards getting unmanned probes to the surface of Iota Polaris Research Probe Carlin Research Probe -Jimeno Gaelan

Love that skybox!

@BadOaks Something about bases in arctic regions of planets just gets me. Looks glorious

One of my favorite additions to this save is Sigma Replacements. Adds a ton of little things that make the game feel better, including the glorious navball seen in this mission report, and even littler things such as new home screen scenes! Overall, two thumbs up

It seems as if we have finally found our way to strike it rich in the space industry! Iota is currently the only goldmine we can actually get to, and so we will have to put in all our research towards getting there! After one long year, the time has come to work towards landing a Gaelan on Iota, possibly within the next 5 years or so Chapter 4: Economic BOOM! Year 2, Day 118 Sorry for the long hiatus between logs of progress! For most of these 100 days our R&D team has been consuming most of the resources and funds we have towards solar panels & probe bodies. The research is finally finished, so we can get back to space travel. Only issue is that we are quite low on funds with only 80k in the bank. To compensate for this lack of funds, we ended up signing a Gaelan endurance contract. The contract supplier wants us to put a Gaelan in orbit for 30 days. Not too interesting, but It's the only way to gain funds so that we can send probes to Iota. Will be back here in 2 weeks! Solaris I Iota Expedition Mk I We already spent a decent chunk of science gained on parts & electrics, but anyways, it's upgrading time! -Jimeno Gaelan
