  1. BWhat if multiplayer wasnt real-time? Objects in KSP are "on-rails" so its position at any time can be predicted under normal circumstances. Players can choose to share their vessels to a server as long as it fits the criteria for going to space center(landed/in stable orbit) where then it is stored clientside with the craft files being temporarily downloaded from the server. Each vessel would also have a record of when it was shared/unshared in-game time so players must be in that time window to see that vessel. This system allows players to playing their own timefram while still being "multiplayer". This just the loose concepts.
  2. woudnt it be nice if the textures for planets loaded when you get into its SOI?
  3. Stellardrone on Soundcloud makes great space music, especially fitting when you are using KSPI or Far Future Tech stuff. There is this mod called Soundtrack Editor that I would use but its not up to date
  4. Many people have complained that Career Mode was very poorly implemented as nothing more then an afterthought.... So, Introducing.... MAKING EA! This DLC will include a complete career mode and some futuristic parts like nuclear reactors and larger NERVs to go with it. Because who doesn't love buying what was supposed to be a complete game and then paying for DLCs to get said complete game! Using our KrakenPortal™ Virturalization Technology, we are able to open up wormholes to a better, more ideal version of the current universe where there are better versions of video games, steal the code for the game, and release parts of the better, more ideal version of games as DLC! The revamped career mode has been designed to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment. Get it now on Steam, GOG, or our website for only $20!
  5. Well, I believe the part in need of balancing the most aren't the engines, but the *research lab* (DUN DUN DUN!!!!!) Currently, research labs are absurdly OP because you can feed it with science with impunity. We could nerf them by say, make them usable only be lvl 4 or above scientists Or, change how they work entirely. For example, they could be required to turn the 1-time experiments into a long-term experiment over days, weeks, or months.
  6. I believe you can use BetterTimeWarp to timewarp faster then what the stock game allows.
  7. Forcing kerbals in aircraft to fight each other... BahamutoD, thank you!
  8. The third pic s accomplished with first/2nd pic but with higher density, better textures, and shaders/scatters/etc.
  9. How about a simpler system where players can choose what skills the kerbals get? So there are 5 skills that a kerbal can get but the player can choose when to unlock a skill. So, they could get the parachutes before advanced SAS. Also would this be a good idea for a mod? (Not that I have the skills to implement it)
  10. NOT A MOD REQUEST (but feel free to make it if you want to) How hard would it be to add billboaed grass to KSP? You would be on the ground and you would be able to see the grass like this. Okay. Maybe more like this: Ehh. What about this? There you go.
  11. What if Kerbals could unlock different skills based on a skill tree and the player's decision? Every level you get say 10 points to spend. You can invest the points in a web like this. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CGYFZUv-QdlcPkcZEe9j2a1bLOoprEkv/view?usp=sharing EDIT: This is only an example All classes can eventually unlock all skills but researching skills that are not specific to their class take double the points. The rounded shadowed boxes aren't actually special.
  12. The main topic of the thread was the application of analog keyboard in KSP.
  13. Does anyone have any configs for tweaking parts to be EXTREMELY large? Like SWDennis large.
  14. Unlike many other features (cough Multiplayer cough), propellors would be relatively easy to implement, not have a lot of impact on the performance, and would not detract from other people's playstyles unlike some features such as life support. This is something simple. Just a new engine. Besides, this would open up new possibilities for new missions and NASA has considered multiple drone concepts for near-future missions: adding a drone to the Mars 2020 rover and a drone to Titan in its early stages, which sound just as plausible then ISRU, SABRE engines, or Asteroid Redirect. Its mostly political science rather than rocket science. As for the supposedly poor quality-control, an argument could be made that SQUAD should cease ALL development, DLC or otherwise altogether. Besides, it's nice to have that "stock gold status" for the purists and the console players. tl;dr: Unlike other suggested features, it's not that hard to make, there are serious near-future proposals for extraterrestrial prop engines, and the argument of poor-quality releases can apply for ANY feature.
  15. There is this keyboard called Wooting which is an analog pressure-sensitive keyboard which means it detects how far you are pressing the keys instead of if you are pressing the keys or not, which I see having very useful applications in KSP. A lot of people in the joystick threads, from what I read, say that joysticks are only really practical for aircraft. However, analog keyboards could serve as fine-control and would be useful all-around. Anyone got one of these and have tested it out in KSP? Website:https://www.wooting.nl 2kliksphilip has made a great video on regarding its application in games below.
  16. Well, from what I've seen, people are worrying that instead of working on updates, they will keep releasing new DLC instead. In other words, updates will no longer be free.
  17. I thought they affected drill efficiency or was that engineer levels?
  18. Kerbal Engineers already does that...
  19. When it loads the craft files it would check for any DLC parts and if the DLC is present. If there are DLC parts in ships but not the DLC, it would swap the parts with an inert version of them with the same dimensions which *are* in the stock game during the loading process.
  20. What if it was just a placeholder part so things like people without the DLC are able to open .craft files with DLC parts or not breaking your saves when you load up a save with DLC ships without the DLC installed while still incentivizing people to buy it?
  21. I have a potato so I'm limited to minior visual mods. KS3P: It adds post-processing effects to make the game look better. I really like the glow effects as it makes the ships feel more metallic. Engine Lightning: Make engine exhasts emit light Distant Object Enhancements: Makes the sky look more realistic by hiding the skybox when in sunlight(ever wonder why the Apollo surface pictured don't have stars in the sky?) TextureReplacer: It allows parts and astonaut textures to be changed. I use it to get the reflective EVA visors though
