....wut? I literally have no idea what you are talking about.
-
That won't be possible if the tutorials in the game are interactive, or with interactive sections between short clips. They would lose a lot of context in that case.
-
That is fine, but unless your physics delta is extremely small and/or your calculations are extremely trivial, the inaccuracies will overwhelm that precision instantly for a game that actually runs at playable frame rates. Hence the seconds per frame comment.
-
The argument actually stems back to my original post: So it did start with time-wrap/movement.
-
Ya that could be what was being referred to. Wouldn't surprise me if people take certain things out of context and just apply it to everything because they also misremember the original context.
-
IF. Keyword there.
-
Yes I believe so. I’ll believe it when I see it though because even back then I simply dismissed that statement as hype/PR/lofty goals type speak given how completely unnecessary/expensive it would be to actually attempt to meet that goal for a video game.
-
Obviously, at no one point did I state it as a fact. "If I had to wager a guess" "Might be" You are expecting sub-millimeter precision. That is laughably unrealistic unless you want this thing to run at several seconds per frame.
-
Unless of course the game is in active development and it makes sense to do so in order to have immediate visual feedback on if the system is going loopy during testing. It's not a bug if it is being done on purpose. You should take some time to learn a thing or two about how programming works rather than calling everything under the sun a "bug".
-
If I had to wager a guess that is likely on purpose. Might be how time-wrap works to allow the vessel to accelerate while warping without the vehicle getting shaken apart, etc. All the connections come a little loose on purpose to prevent the physics from ripping it apart.
-
It’s entirely possible whoever built that misaligned the parts while building it for whatever reason.
-
Satisfactory and Dyson Sphere Project to name a couple more. They aren’t even out of EA yet and already very different from their initial release.
-
Are you still using a CRT for a monitor or perhaps running at very high resolutions like 4K?
-
See how much better that looks with a little anti-aliasing applied? Night and day for me.
-
Sweet sweet anti-aliasing. Thank you.
-
You are vastly underestimating the amount of potential consumers that is still completely untapped, even a year later. The longer development drags on though does entail risk that even people who would have been interested originally don’t bother because the product has aged so much. Keep in mind this game is not releasing on consoles, probably until version 1.0.
-
You are actually saying the exact opposite by using Valheim as an example. You are saying if the games does really well now that it will be hard to exceed that after they leave Early Access. Which is exactly why they aren’t marketing it much now.
-
Wait, are you telling me that people stop playing games when they are finished with them? *mind blown*
-
No. A game having DLC is *completely* different from Early Access.
-
No. Look at the screenshot again. See the little black triangle at the bottom of the black text box? It’s a pop up from hovering over the indicated persons name.
-
I certainly hope the FPS in KSP 2 is better in the end, but if you expect that on Feb 24th you might be disappointed.
-
Ya I understand back in the day when you needed to get material to a manufacturer, they then need to review it, the back and forth needed for any potential changes, then the factory has to be geared up for the printing process, then the time to manufacture the boxes, and likely lots more other things that adds a lot of overhead to the time required in which things could change so the material is inaccurate. Existing games showing screenshots of old versions on Steam is definitely laziness on their part, but thank you for the examples. That was appreciated. At this point I am pretty much in a holding pattern with fairly minimal expectations. Usually that serves me well as I would rather have my expectations exceeded. If they manage to fix the apparent performance problems (without sacrificing a lot of visual features) before Feb 24th I’ll be happy.
-
Well you’re not wrong, that is a possibility too, but using an outdated or incomplete version of the game to create screenshots that they are posting onto the various sales platforms seems like a really, really, dumb thing to do so I figured I would give them more credit than that.
-
I’ve been more than happy to give them the benefit of the doubt despite the multiple delays, etc, but that good will only extends so far and what they have shown so far is very, VERY, unusual and that is concerning. If I had to wager a guess the reason why they aren’t cranking up all the settings in the promotional material is one of three things: 1) The settings simply don’t exist (yet?) and that is the highest quality at this point in time. 2) The performance on the highest settings is going to be terrible during the initial release so they aren’t advertising it that way since 90% of the player base won’t be able to run it that way. 3) The person creating the promotional material doesn’t realize they don’t have the settings set correctly and it has literally gone unnoticed by everyone in the company somehow. <— See what I mean by extending good will?
-
Have you ever seen any game advertise itself using the worst settings possible on purpose? That is not rhetorical, I am legitimately curious if that is something you have seen before.
