The way that he made his chair work was by deploying while in air and hopping into the chair. You cant deploy the chute while sitting.

I am currently working on a mod as an exstension for MH, but the only two software I have are Solidworks and Inventor. I do not know how to lower the poly count of the models to a point wherethey DON'T kill Unity when I load them.
