So when you sort command pods or fuel tanks by mass, they all sort according to their full wet weight and not by dry empty weight? One of the issues I just realized is CKAN stopped actually removing mods I told it to, as they were still checked and on the list. Rebooting it fixed it (I think). I don't quite understand why it leaves folders behind after uninstalling. Like tweakscale has a bunch of folders and a config file left, and patch manager has a bunch of files left relating to @linuxgurugamer's recycled parts mod for freescape/capsuledyne but I don't have freescape recycled parts OR patch manager installed according to CKAN. So CKAN does a worse job of removing stuff you tell it to remove than it does installing stuff you tell it to install it seems.... When I tell something to remove something, I don’t want random pieces of things left behind...that's probably how your game sometimes gets corrupted over time.

I was kidding and mimicking the prior post. I do have a serious question that I have been asking around in a few threads like modded technical support.....but of course no one has answered my question in any thread for days.... So most of the stock parts in the game, like solid rocket boosters....or any stock part with fuel, sort by mass as the total wet weight with fuel included in the total weight. Parts in mods like your command pods, and the dragon/space bug pods from Kerbalized SpaceX, sort by mass on the parts list as if they are empty and have no fuel or supplies that are normally included....so they show up on the parts list mixed in with much lighter parts even though they all spawn with fuel by default....so they are actually technically heavier than the parts they are mixed in with on the parts list.... This basically makes sorting by mass useless, as most parts actually sort the way stock vanilla parts do (with fuel included) which I am used to....but other parts in a hanful of particular mods do not... I have so far tried deleting all vanilla folders in the game and reacquiring them through Steam, and I have deleted and reinstalled the affected mods through CKAN and I have deleted and reinstalled mod manager itself, as well as Tac Fuel Balancer, Interstellar Fuel Switch and Configurable Containers (basically anything I could think of that would somehow affect the fuel in multiple different mods). So far nothing has resolved this. The Probes Plus parts with fuel and supplies included in the parts, as well as parts from several other different mods continue to sort as if they are empty.....and are mixed in with parts that are full. Obviously this is not a game breaking issue, but I seems to be driving me insane.... So any ideas on what is causing this to occur and any ideas on how to fix it? I just realized I basically already asked this question here a day ago.... I guess the easiest solution is to just uninstall the affected mods if it's bothering me. I was just wondering if there was an actual fix for this that I could apply, so I could fix the sorting of the affected mods. I wonder if @linuxgurugamer has any idea what could be going on....he seems wicked smart because he fixes so many different things in the game with mods already....

All Clamp-O-Trons explode
JoE Smash replied to ZaeRoe's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Are you using "Oh scrap" with scrapyard? Regardless, if I was to ditch a mod because stuff is randomly exploding when I try to use it then I'd try removing that mod first.... -
bouncy landing gear

So you tried messing with the spring and damper settings? Like turn the spring strength up....to the right, and turn the damper down....to the left.... -
KSP_x64.exe Crashes on opening
JoE Smash replied to Defectum's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
When you say you are running version 1.3.0, do you mean the base game version or are you refering to the Making History Expansion? Is that what you mean by "Squad Expansion"? (I don't know what that is) Which version works on your old computer, the unmodded 1.3.0 version or the modded 1.4.2 version, or both? Oh are you launching it through Steam or did you create a direct 64bit shortcut on your desktop or something? -
CRASH AFTER INSTALLING KONSTRUCT MOD
JoE Smash replied to tonimark's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
If you want to heavily mod the game, I recommend rolling it back to version 1.4.3 until the mods can be updated to work properly with the update that was just released like a week ago.... -
[1.8.1] Kerbal Konstructs - 1.8.1.15 - 15.Dec.2019
JoE Smash replied to Ger_space's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
There are multiple other mods that need to be significantly worked on for version 1.4.4 of KSP. I believe Extraplanetary Launchpads may have recently been updated. Not sure about kopernicus or mods requiring kopernicus. I read a week ago when KSP version 1.4.4 came out that if you were using Kopernicus it could significantly corrupt your save game. You need to remember that mods are made by regular people (for the most part), that mod the game for fun in their spare time. They don't have access to the game's patch notes or code before a new version is released. So it will take time after a new version is released to fix mods if there were significant changes to the code of the game. If you absolutely must update all your games as soon as updates are released, then I recommend you don't mod your games and just play the stock unmodded game. If you want to mod your game then don't update your game until the mods you want to run have also been updated.... That's my advice.... PS. Also always back up your save games before updating any game and/or before modding it.... -
how to build with kerbal konstruts
JoE Smash replied to tonimark's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
You'll have to roll back to KSP v1.4.3. KK and Kerbin Side don't work with KSP v1.4.4 yet.... Right click on KSP in Steam library, go to properties then find the tab to enroll in the beta program and select your prior game version....then let it download and rollback to the earlier version. Warning: Your current persistent save game may not load with an earlier version of KSP if you already were playing in the new version....so I hope you manually backed up your saves before updating, or have an old save that you didn't load while on version 1.4.4 -

Annnnnd will you make a new model for everything that expands, but make it expand one third as far? Pleeease? Thanks! (See how annoying that is?)

Any idea of a setting or a filter extension I somehow jacked up that would cause your mod's parts as well as several other mod's parts (Kerbalized spaceX, Deep Sky) sort mass by the parts dry weight whereas stock parts are sorting by the part's wet weight (fuel and other supplies included in total weight for sorting). I guess it's not a big deal, but for some reason it's driving me totally insane that technically heavier parts are sorting as if they are lighter than they truly are by not including fuel or other supplies in the part when sorting..... https://www.dropbox.com/s/hdwj6aluwl4lik1/KSP Errors.rar?dl=0 I've tried deleting and redownloading vanilla files via steam, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling affected mods via CKAN. I've also uninstalled mods that I thought might cause this effect somehow like interstellar fuel switch and configurable containers (as they can switch fuel types in certain parts). I'm so tired of trying to get this figured out that I am ready to just quit playing KSP and play one of my 300 other Steam games....

Part sorting VAB/SPH
JoE Smash replied to JoE Smash's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Update: Here is a link to a RAR file in my Dropbox containing the Output_Log and my last random crash dump. I don't really care about the random crash, as I don't get them often and I probably deleted and fixed a bunch of files since my last crash.... but I included it in case there is a clue. I am hoping now that I included this information someone might actually help me, instead of continuing to ignore my post for days while I go crazy deleting and reinstalling mods and the game itself. https://www.dropbox.com/s/hdwj6aluwl4lik1/KSP Errors.rar?dl=0 -
[1.8.1 - 1.12.5] Interstellar Fuel Switch (IFS) 3.29.5
JoE Smash replied to FreeThinker's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Hello, I install/uninstall pretty much all my mods with CKAN. I'm running KSP version 1.4.3. I'm having some weird issues with part sorting by mass in the VAB/SPH with parts from mods that have fuel/supplies included in the part. Parts with fuel included in the part, like the dragon command pod from kerbalized spacex, are sorting on the parts list via their dry weight even though when I hover my mouse over the part it lists the wet weight....so it's like some parts aern't sorting properly. I'm also getting a lot of weird decimal place weights instead of normal rounded weights. I'm having a hell of a time figuring out WTH is going on. It's obviously not game breaking, but it's driving me nuts. I have no idea what is causing it to happen, but as it happens with several different mods and not stock parts I am figuring it is due to a mod that affects other mods like this one or maybe module manager itself. I'm a pretty big noob so I don't really know how to code, or program, or even edit module manager files.... I didn't know if you or anyone else in the thread had any ideas though. I wrote in the technical help forum yesterday, but since I didn't include logs and stuff, I figure no one is going to answer my question.... Will a log file help me get help?: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hdwj6aluwl4lik1/KSP Errors.rar?dl=0- 1,187 replies

Part sorting VAB/SPH
JoE Smash replied to JoE Smash's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Update: I figured out what is happening, but I still don't know how to fix it. Basically the part filters when sorting by mass are sorting the parts without including any fuel or other supplies governed by sliders in the part that are normally included with the part. For example if the command pod weighs 1 ton empty, but also includes a ton of monopropellant instead of filtering the pod as weighing 2 tons total in the parts list, it is placing it on the list like it weighs 1 ton and ignoring the fuel that normally comes included. This is driving me nuts.... I'm assuming some fuel switching mod must be doing this. I know it isn't stock game related because I deleted all the KSP vanilla folders and basically reacquired the whole game via Steam again in an effort to fix this issue.... I know originally parts were sorted by total weight, fuel inclded, or solid rocket boosters wouldn't sort right. What I can't figure out is why some parts from certain mods are affected and other parts are not affected..... -
Hello, Any idea what would cause/how to fix my parts not sorting correctly with the normal built in part filters.... Like sorting by mass for instance (something I regularly do) my parts are not actually sorting by mass correctly i.e. they are out of order. Specifically it seems to be the parts from Probes Plus, Kerbalized SpaceX, and OPT mostly. Like for command pods the 7 ton Dragon SpaceX pods show up with 2 ton command parts....etc.... I did have the file extensions mod installed briefly, but uninstalled it.... Uninstalling and reinstalling the affected mods didn't seem to help, as the affected parts still continued to sort incorrectly after uninstalling and reinstalling them. If there is a stock filter file somewhere that I could delete, and then download by verifying my installation via Steam....I could do that if someone could direct me to the data file that handles this situation. I dug around for a while but couldn't find anything specific in my game folders.... Thanks in advance for any suggestions.... Log file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hdwj6aluwl4lik1/KSP Errors.rar?dl=0

I read this whole thread and I'm still confused.....is there a working version of Simple Construction for KSP v1.4.3. If so can someone provide a link with where I can download it? I am not ready to update my game and mods to v1.4.4 because I use quite a few mods and very few are updated to 1.4.4 so far.....

[1.9.x] Better Science Labs Continued
JoE Smash replied to linuxgurugamer's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
After messing around with things (I'm new to the game) it seems that particular lab is the only one that doesn't have a hatch. It's frustrating because it's the smallest, lightest, and earliest to unlock tech wise.....which makes it easiest to get to the Mun or Minmus early in your career. That being said, I learned the hard way by leaving the next size up lab on the Mun (which does have a hatch), that the lab's right click menu disappears when you remove the lab from the command pod. If it is no longer attached to a command pod, or at least have a probe core with command functions attached as well as an atenna with sufficient range to phone home and receive commands....then the lab becomes pretty useless. So now I have a lab on the Mun with solar panels, batteries, experiments, an experiment data holder, direct and relay antennas, and a hatch with a kerbal inside and no way to use the lab because I'm a noob. I'm about to launch a new mission with a mechanic and the hopes of welding a probe core to the lab (using the kerbal attachment and inventory mods), hoping that doing so will restore the right click menu options. With my luck it won't though....lol. So basically what I'm saying is, it's almost worth leaving a MK1 command pod with a hatch attached to the smallest lab for the sake of it functioning.... If you want to go REALLY small and light, the Umbra Space Industries "USI Exploration Pack" adds the smallest command pods with hatches I have seen in the game (so far). Both the AES and HERP pods weigh 0.15 kilos and have a hatch and command functions included with them. They are basically considered emergency rescue or escape pods....but whatever works right? So I'd slap one of those on the lab and drop it off and that may solve the issue. I'd add the "Connected Living Space" mod just to be on the safe side..... GLHF! JoE Smash -
I also noticed when I launch one kerbal in the Meadowlark there is no portrait or option to EVA....which makes it pretty much useless even with only one kerbal (at least for me). Is it normally possible to eva from that pod without Take Command installed? I suppose I could just uninstall it and find out myself, but it is getting tiresome messing with mods and then spending another 15 minutes to load KSP again....lol....
-
Negative, I do now though.... I was aware some of the modders are also devs but I don't have straight who is who....RoverDude is one? Porkjet? I don't know who else....I just started playing KSP less than a month ago when I noticed it on sale on Steam.... I don't understand why devs have to mod their own game though? Why don't you just add all this stuff to the game? Are you just testing it to see what people like the most by downloading it?
-
Well regardless of who looks at what it would be awesome if it was eventually resolved. No hurry though, I know you work on MANY projects Linuxgurugamer and probably have a RL to boot.....so as long as it's on the agenda at some point that's adequate. I even tried to look up stuff, but I don't understand modding, unity, or programming.....so I am sure I would ask stupid questions and waste everyone's time. I downloaded Blender, looked at it for two hours and decided I would much rather play KSP than try to mod KSP.....rofl....

Hello, So I downloaded the patch from this thread put it in my game data folder and launched KSP v1.4.3. I opened my savegame and tried the Meadowlark EAS-316 pod with Jeb and intentionally a female a kerbal. I am also using Kerbal Konstructs and was at a different runway than the main KSC runway (no idea if that matters). Told it to launch. Only Jeb appeared and he wasn't in the command pod and there was no way to board it.....just climb on it. The female kerbal was MIA so I reverted flight to inside the SPH. I tried relaunching at the KSC and this time they both appeared but neither were in the pod and there was no way to board it either. I started a new career sandbox mode, because I had not yet unlocked the normal command chair to test out. I put 4 normal command chairs on some default ship model I loaded up, and put all 4 starting kerbals in the chairs and then launched the rocket to the launchpad. All 4 kerbals were in their chairs, no one was in the mk1 command pod and I was able to launch the rocket and get into orbit. So I guess this is a bug/issue with that specific part I was using which is a part from SXTContinued. Anyways no big deal either way. It is a cool part though, because of it's low weight, it holds two kerbals and they are exposed to the elements because the sides are open.... Thanks, JoE_Smash

Hi, I suppose this isn't a huge deal or anything...., but in this thread, on CKAN, and on Github/spacedock is says Darkside Technology is for KSP version 1.4.3 but the version file included with the download says "max KSP version 1.2.99" so it makes me nervous every time KSP-AVC flags it every time I start up the game.... Oh wait none of your mods are on CKAN are they? The Tantares mods are not the same as these mods are they? Man.....I'm so confused....
