  1. The aero model has changed. So have many controls in general... And don't get me started on the mess of "where do I look?" when trying to orient myself with the NavBall. Direction icons have this weird effect of becoming smaller and smaller the further away they are from the center of the ball. The whole pixelly style navball is a huge mistake. Needs a complete overhaul.
  2. Listen. I just built a Ryzen 5 5600, RX 6600 (OC) and 16gb DDR4 3200. The game is barely playable on those. Don't waste your money unless you plan on building a High-End PC. Wait for them to optimize it first, so proper PC specs can be guessed.
  3. I'm not in charge of those docs. The two users that appear on the top of it are. I guess you can shoot them a DM for any doubts. But no, you don't necessarily need to be on the Intercept server in order to submit your config, and results in the coming days.
  4. This Community Hardware Survey has been dancing around the Intercept Discord for a while. People are submitting their configs and FPS tests will be submitted after release. Here's the Docs with the raw info and (soon) results. KSP 2 - Community Hardware Survey - READ ONLY https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1x3N0bjxx6TGFx3pn5kuVW4lOOFNerSn22yHsbzGB60c/edit#gid=0 And here's the Survey to gather said info for the doc: KSP2 Community Hardware and Performance Survey https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfToXCRID2FiVtX24A7JzYdzI4rgjOesQEKH2IpeRUjsERS8Q/viewform For those interested, it has also got the attention of the Devs directly:
  5. To those of you who have and / or will mod KSP2 for the benefit of all, thanks in advance
  6. I really can't wait for Interstellar
  7. I completely agree. The Voice actor choice was a mistake. Let me be clear. I'm not saying she's a bad VA. It just isn't the right choice for teaching rocket science, even in a simplified way.
  8. I'm sad that we won't get re-entry at launch with such a prize... Oh dear
  9. Both of you brought up great points and considerations that I'll add into the main template shortly We can discuss it further yeah. Google Forms might not be the best one if we want the results to be instantly reflected in a thread comment. Establishing the best and simplest test scenarios for people to follow would be the ideal way. If we ended up overcomplicating it, most people would just ignore it. Yeah, completely forgot about resolutions, which is one of the biggest factors. Thanks for pointing it out! There's no reason to open any threads about this yet. The methods, case scenarios and users organizing it are still being discussed (hence the existence of this thread). Said final thread would be opened the 24th alongside the release of the game.
  10. Ray Tracing would be the most useless feature they could add to a game like KSP. Being a inherently performance heavy game, who on Earth would like to lose 40 extra FPS in exchange of... ray traced reflections of... the darkness of space? I'll say it again (since it makes me feel good): I WANT them to implement FSR 2.0 on KSP2.
  11. The idea has its roots on the fact that we still lack context behind those Requirements. KSP is a game that could choke a i9 and 4090 if you added ENOUGH parts. Unlike traditional games, there is not a ceiling of lowest performance, but a "keep adding parts until it crashes" sort of environment. A true sandbox. We know that Minimum Specs ask for an i5 6400, 12gb RAM and a 2060 for 1080p Low, but under which conditions? Under which scenarios, vessel part counts and locations was it concluded that said system was the minimum you should have for the game to... run? Was it with a full KerbalX on Mun's surface at 60fps? Was it with an Interstellar ship on LKO in one of their dev builds with unreleased content trying to aim for what said specs would be in a few months? Was it just to load KSC with a Thumper, Mk1-3 and a Parachute at +30fps? I know for a fact that many people will try KSP2 on way, WAY lower spec systems than the minimum that is shown officialy. I can't think of any other way to test the real minimum/stable requirements than to get together and do a proper Community Vibe Check to that first Early Access build. I like this. Although recording video might induce an inherent performance loss to an already low spec system
  12. That's great to know. I was seriously considering giving up and getting an overprized 3060 as a last resort, but now I'm thinking about going for a RX 6600 or even 6700, which should be more or less on par with the 3060.
  13. Do AMD cards have equivalent software to NVIDIA Control Panel where you can manually change certain apps's parameters individually and such? I've always been a NVIDIA user, so idk how traumatizing would it be to suddenly change
  14. I'm pretty sure I've seen textures have LODs on some of the sneak peeks they've shown. But maybe it was just the anisotropic filter doing its work.
  15. To be completely honest, and being on the Below Low< side of the minimum specs, if the main worries happen to be about how the scatters aren't exaggerated enough or how the trees disappear on the distance, I'm guessing the game will be just fine...
  16. I think I'll update to a 3060 first later this year, then end up upgrading everything else. My i7 7700 will hold up just fine for now. And I say later this year with the hopes that a 3060 won't cost as much as my 1060 used to cost 7 years ago, being an already 2 year old card.
  17. I honestly still don't understand why would they give Minimum Specs for 1080p and Recommended Specs for 1440p. That adds even more to the confusion. Give Min and Rec for both resolutions. Ugh.
  18. Now I'm wondering: Might the game pack any form of DLSS/FSR? KSP would be a perfect game for such kind of tech. No Man's Sky has FSR 2.0 and it literally doubles your FPS with almost unnoticeable loss of quality. DLSS would be a fit for their requirement selection, since it's only officialy available on RTX cards (though it would most likely be unlockable unoficially by tinkering with some files) but FSR is far superior to DLSS in many ways.
  19. Fresh from IG Discord Edit: Already posted above. People sure are fast!
  20. Still waiting for them to say which resolution said specs are aiming for. The fact that they skipped that completely would mean that it's for the (still main standard) 1080p60fps. And this would be a complete utter disgrace. Let me put everyone into perspective with some of the most demanding recent titles. Cyberpunk 2077 Recommended: OS: Windows 10 Processor: Intel Core i7-4790 or AMD Ryzen 3 3200G Memory: 12 GB RAM Graphics: GTX 1060 6GB / GTX 1660 Super or Radeon RX 590 DirectX: Version 12 Storage: 70 GB available space Red Dead Redemption 2 Recommended OS: Windows 10 - April 2018 Update (v1803) Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-4770K / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X Memory: 12 GB RAM Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB / AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB Storage: 150 GB available space Elden Ring Recommended OS: Windows 10/11 Processor: INTEL CORE I7-8700K or AMD RYZEN 5 3600X Memory: 16 GB RAM Graphics: NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1070 8 GB or AMD RADEON RX VEGA 56 8 GB DirectX: Version 12 Storage: 60 GB available space ------------------------------ Those three games will tank your machine big time, even if you've got decent hardware from 2019-2021 Unless the specs released today are based on a higher resolution than 1080p, this literally speaks for itself.
  21. It's a matter of realizing that the game might be so poorly optimized at EA Launch that it will require the same Minimun settings as Cyberpunk does for Max. Starting to lose hope a week away from launch.
  22. I don't know how I feel about UI displaying empty seats.
  23. T-7, ladies and kerbelmen We've been waiting since 2019.
