Renewable Energy Production in KSP 2
Lo.M replied to WalebKassa's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
Welcome! Definitely yes. While biomass/biogas power plants? Also, we could have solar thermal systems that could be a more efficient way to harness energy from some star. Tidal energy definitely doesn't. As for the wave/marine current power plants I still don't know, I don't have much programming knowledge so I don't know the complexity of it. It may be a stupid question for someone who has more knowledge in programming, but sea currents (in case of addition) could work in the same way as the wind? -
Hello @Brope Ian! Welcome!

Welcome@Jool5! Over time you will develop new abilities! I also love playing with mods !

YES YES YES YES YES YES

They need some outlet for the surface. Some equipment wanted to be adapted. If you are on a planet totally covered with water, the only form of mining would be to mine the Oceanic crust, that is, connection with the surface and the crust. Some "air pockets" would be needed ... You don't need very futuristic things, but it's not just sinking into something.

In ksp2 we will have colonies in space and on land this is confirmed. I created this topic to speculate and discuss more "exotic" colonies that are those that are not terrestrial and space colonies. Floating Colonies: they are huge "airships" that can be built and/or taken to planets with dense atmosphere (such as Venus), or on gaseous planets (such as Jool) Floating colonies in water: Colonies made for aquatic planets or planets with large parts of water. Submerged colonies: Colonies that were totally or partially submerged, by staying in the water the radiation is totally or partially barred. As solar panels would be a difficulty for this colony, we could use Oceanic Thermal Conversion and /or sea currents power plants to generate energy (but of course if we had an advanced climate and weather system), we could also use nuclear energy. Buried colonies: they could be built in lava tubes, for example, it is built below ground, so radiation is partially or totally barred, as well as in submerged colonies. Sugested by @Vinhero100 : Colonies on asteroids and comets: colonies that could be built on large asteroids like Ceres (in ksp Dres) or smaller bodies like Ida or some comets. Well the biggest problems are the gravity that wanted to be generated artificially and the radiation. Discuss! Something to be added/changed/tidy, comment on the comments.

I fixed the problem

Em drives... I'm on the side where I think Em Drive won't work, but if it does we will find an explanation for it.

Perfect landing !!! -
It doesn't have to be that realistic, but only 2 kerbals are enough to create a colony gives me a little discomfort when it comes to realism. 100% stupidity, they would be less efficient in their jobs, they would die sooner.

Only with that number would genetics problems probably happen.

What is the minimum viable population (MVP) of kerbals? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minimum_viable_population This is extremely important for any colonies.

Recently I looked at the 'Show and Tell' and a question was "hammering" in my head, in ksp2 we will have nuclear power plants, large nuclear fusion plants, very futuristic things, but I was thinking about technologies that already exist on Earth and could be adapted for planetary colonization, here I mean geothermal power plants, the tidal/wave power plants (for planets with Water, in the case of the first for planets with large natural satellites, or on planets with water that stand around a black hole [yes I took this idea of that first planet that the Interstellar team visits {in case of the addition of a system of planets orbiting from a black hole}]), the power plants that use marine current to generate energy, wind turbines, Biofuel power plants that would use biomass/biogas (plants, organic waste produced by kerbais...), in KSP2 is already confirmed solar panels for the colonies, but and solar thermal power plants, they could be a more efficient means of harnessing the energy coming from the sun, In case water levels were added we could have hydroelectric plants. Do you think that would be a good thing to add or disagree?

I have the same opinion

How do we define What Is "Magic Technology"? What is "magic technology"? What should be classified as "magic technology"? Examples of "magic technology": Tachyon Drives Alcubierre Drives Em drive
