By spending and not spending money. If i take two steps forward and two steps back, isn't that still four steps taken? -
How do you caculate a transfer window?
Dientus replied to Dr. Kerbal's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Understand I just got this information looking it up, I have not had time to actually crunch any numbers but I am hoping that these sites will bring you the formula you need to arrive at the answer. https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/edu/teach/activity/lets-go-to-mars-calculating-launch-windows/ https://www.reddit.com/r/KerbalAcademy/comments/1wvtsl/manually_calculating_launch_windows/ -
Just an opinion mind you. Yes boats use a lot of fuel. Electric boats can use a lot of electricity. The thing about the batteries is they really have to stay between a 20% and 80% charge or they go bad very quickly. So it would have to stay up twith some kind of smart charger that would maintain that for you while it is not in use usually year round. Initial investment in electric boats is much more than gas or diesel and they are not cheap. More so than you would expect. But once done you would get approximately 5 years worth of good use out of the battery. Time will vary depending upon how new the battery is and of course what type which I'm not sure if there's any thing left now but lithium ion new, but used you better make sure you know what kind you're getting. There are still acid core batteries around, and though they may not be common as far as a main storage for electric boats go, they do exist. After the battery is dead, it is extremely expensive to replace depending upon how the hull is built around it. The battery itself can be anywhere between $3,000 to $10,000 USD plus labor. And of course there is no way to cheaply dispose of the batteries as of yet so there is no telling what a shop May charge for storing a bad battery. Contrary to popular beliefs most old batteries are currently not recycled. There is a safety Factor. Corrosion is a very serious issue with any battery and can get worse when in a constant wet situation, especially if it's salt water. Remember your regular maintenance, of course that's not anything that you wouldn't have to do to a gas or diesel boat as well. Consider fuel tanks storage of fuel emptying carburetors, injectors and so on. In my opinion the safety Factor balances out as long as you use common sense and know the equipment you have. Does this mean electric is not for you? Of course not, because if you consider how much oil and maintenance you would spend on a gas or diesel burner in the same period of time you could easily spend more by far than the cost of the battery. The difference is it's usually not all at once. TLDR; So my final opinion is if you have quite a bit of disposable income up front, and don't plan on Long excursions, an electric boat may actually be just what you need. Always shop around and ask other boaters for their opinions because after all most other boaters have already done it. Their experience can guide you to a happy boating life.

The way I understood it, the amount of power it took to spin them, could have been used to turn two screws instead more cheaply and more efficiently. There were other aesthetic reasons, aandthe detractors even claimed they were dangerous having large spinning drums in the open. (I guess the whales don't count for the propellers) Someone is taking this technology and actually improved on it to the point that it could very well be viable in my opinion. https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2017/09/spinning-metal-sails-could-slash-fuel-consumption-emissions-cargo-ships As to OPs original question, it really depends heavily on what it is they want a boat for. It'd be leisurely travel around the lake, or long endeavors across the ocean, there are currently pluses and minuses to both.

What is the most over- and underrated place in ksp?
Dientus replied to Hyperspace Industries's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Overrated: Eeloo as a whole, Dres Canyon and the Mohole. Underrated: Eeloo as a whole, Comm Satellites in Dres orbit and the rest of Moho. I can't explain it about Eeloo exactly, not sure if it's due to the distance from kerbol, the way it looks frigid, or what that makes it underrated. Maybe the Easter eggs play a part in the overrated. Sorry guys I know it sounds stupid but to me it is actually both. -
I don't see it that way at all. I know if I hated this game I wouldn't even be here.

Because they fear the Sun God Aman Ra. What makes a hot dog hot? -
I have them, like 8 different types including built into hats, but not currently wearing any. TUBM is a nice, happy, rounded out person

Speaking of decent, there hasn't been a decent model on TV or the big screen since Clara Bow. I think awful genetics are only partially to blame. -
Granted. Now you have to write your own drivers for KSP XP and wait 6 more years before it's stable. I wished my medicine was free.

Thats just a leftover from the soup wars, I suggest using gps. Waiter, theres a hairy toe in my soup!
-
7/10 I remember you before you took your hiatus, but likely at the time I was not posting much if at all. Welcome back!
-
Melontime! About time How about now @Souptime

Some may not like this, and it's similar to other ideas previously, but I think it could be interesting if in MP if you do not have a clear line of communication to the other players location you can not communicate with them, or its garbled. Yes I realize ship switching could circumvent. LoL just a thought.

Even, for sake of argument, if you finish everything humanly possible to do in the game, there are mods that can extend the game. For myself, usually I restart the game after I have a pretty good station orbiting Eeloo. But that's a personal choice and doesn't mean that I have won or lost the game.

I've never seen an official name, so why not? Besides with the letter K, it helps to sound Kerbalized

They are just trying to get to the other side. Waiter! There is a doorway in my soup!

Nothing because they have already been towed and scrapped by Moon Patrol. Is the dark side of the moon really dark, or just dimmed? -

Natasha Romanoff only looked decent because of CGI
