[1.12.x] Parallax - PBR Terrain and Surface Objects [2.0.8]
Kerbalsaurus replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
What graphics card does everyone suggest for this mod that is NOT RTX, since my computer would explode if it had RTX.- 3,158 replies

I’m going to a Football game today, so expect the next post tomorrow or somethin’. Also, I need to fix the SLS since it’s highly prone to Kracken attacks. Three times I re-did that launch since the rocket wobbled itself to death.

Oh, fuzzles, I did forget a new phrase. Thanks for that!

ARTEMIS 1, NOVEMBER 16, 2022 After 18 trillion years or so of launch delays, budget cuts, and a global pandemic, NASA's now ready to launch Artemis 1, atop an SLS rocket. The SLS is currently the only deep space rocket belonging to NASA right no, and is their predecessor to the Space Shuttle. Artemis 1 is an unmanned test of the SLS rocket and Orion capsule. It'll test life support systems, engines, all the good stuff any rocket needs. At 12:00 PM, it's finally ready to launch. T- 1 minute until launch. All systems look good for Artemis 1. Liftoff of the SLS rocket! Ascent looking good. Orbital insertion burn. While Artemis 1 sits in low Earth orbit, it's systems are checked to see if it's okay to go for TLI. Artemis 1 is go for TLI! Stage 2 separation. For the next 3 days, the Orion capsule coasts towards the Moon, and several tests are done to see if it is capable of crewed spaceflight. Lunar approach. Lunar braking and orbital insertion burn. Earth-rise over the lunar horizon. Burn back to Earth. Re-entry. Parachutes deployed. Splashdown! Artemis 1 is a complete success, and is capable of manned space travel! The next goal: people in orbit around the moon.

Oof, better luck next time. You there, @kerbiloid
-
Yes, I guess I'm doing this. The Artemis Program, done in a somewhat stock save. Somewhere between 90-99% stock. It may be very stock in the beginning, but once I get closer to things like Artemis Base Camp, more mods may be incorporated. This is a highly optimistic view to the Artemis Program, and is lightly inspired by Kanawai: Ares to Mars, by @Jay The Amazing Toaster. Of course, that explores alternate history. I'm exploring possible history. You can expect the first post tomorrow.

YEAR 4, DAY 246 After what seemed like forever of floating throughout empty space, the Pioneer and Explorer 2 probes arrived at their respective destinations. First was Pioneer 2, which arrived at Eve 72 days ago. It's original mission plan was to get to Gilly, but with the circularization burn, an altitude adjustment to Gilly's orbit, there wasn't enough Delta-V, and it could not get to Gilly. The mission is declared a partial success, since it didn't explode and got into Eve orbit, but failed to get to it's destination. Eve Approach Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the solar system, just today, Explorer 2 got to Ike, and sent us back valuable images and science (I'm on a sandbox save, so science doesn't matter, I just like what the results say). Ike is very odd, having a similar mass to Duna, and being in a nearly geosynchronous orbit, it definitely requires more research. Duna-set in a low Ike orbit (20km).

Watch the little animations (they give me real Kurzgesagt vibes), then head off to every celestial body, colonize up to Duna, work towards interstellar travel, and continue colonization of the Kerbol system. #BritishMoment (I'm not british)

Fireflies
Kerbalsaurus replied to Kerbalsaurus's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I feel like we're getting a bit off topic here... I was talking about the little space thingies. Unless fireflies have been to space. -
When you get to orbit in KSP 2 for the first time, you would not believe your eyes, if ten million fireflies started to surround your capsule. All jokes aside, I remembered the ice particles called "fireflies" that surrounded John Glenn's and Scott Carpenter's capsules every sunrise. What these could also be implemented into the game, where if your in orbit around a planet, fireflies will start to surround your cockpit, command pod, capsule, whatever you call it.

2) Do NOT Call Yoon Suk-yeol at 3 AM!!!!111!!!!!!!111! (He NUKED My House)

Technically, some of this is what I did yesterday in KSP, but it includes some of today too. YEAR 3, DAY 90 With Kerman Station's success and popularity among the public, Beyond has received funding from the United Kerbin Administration for a new module to be added. Called the Top Hat Observatory, a new module is going to be added that will allow Kerbals a much clearer view of their Home Planet. An Eve II rocket is fueled and rolled out to the launch pad for a night time launch. Mission control's going to need twice as much coffee as usual today. Waiting on the launch pad for a final go. Liftoff! Tower cleared! Roll program intensifying at 3 km. Thank Kracken for these fins. Orbital insertion burn. A much better view of the module. Now you can see why it's called the Top Hat Observatory. Hard dock with Kerman Station! YEAR 3, DAY 100 With the observatory delivered, the space station has become a prime spot for new Kerbonauts to head too, and a new class is being taught how to preform day-to-day operations, and hopefully they will be chosen for the first Duna missions. These new Kerbonauts are not exactly ready for space travel yet, so former Munar-nauts will be on this rotation too. Liftoff of the Eve I rocket! Station docking achieved. Kerbals are now able to admire the majesty of Kerbin herself. YEAR 3, DAY 211 PROGRESS REPORT: Aurora Base Camp Crew: RETURNED Kerman Station Crew: RETURNED Crews have been returned, and now Explorer 2 is being readied for it's mission to Ike, launching in just 93 days! At the KSC, everyone's very excited to see Ike up close for the very first time. All that we've seen so far is fuzzy dots in telescopes, and bright crescent on Explorer 1's mission.

What is the most HORRIBLE way one of your kerbals died
Kerbalsaurus replied to 322997am's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I decoupled stage, and due to a fuel tank that was clipped just a bit into the decoupler, the whole Minmus return stage blew up and took the heat shield with it. The poor fellas burned alive flying into Kerbin's atmosphere at a speed of 3,715 m/s . -
I saw that the VAB has the NASA logo on it, which I don’t think is included with the actual model in Kerbal Konstructs. The model I believe is called VAB tier 4. Is this a custom design, or is this some RSS thing I don’t understand?

4) Do NOT Listen to the *NEW* Kevin Macleod Album at 3 AM *INSANE*

Yup. I’ve only ever made a working SSTO once. The original idea was to make a plane that flew on a rocket, and, well, that only went sooo well . I need more fuel tanks, and possibly more engines too.
-
YEAR 3, DAY 40 At 4:40 UT, Beyond's first attempt at an SSTO took off from the KSC. This flight was not intended to reach space, or orbit for that matter, it was simply a crewed high altitude test flight. https://imgur.com/Ln0GqWfhttps://imgur.com/Ln0GqWf Engine start up, and Orca is cleared for takeoff. Gaining speed to begin an accent to a higher altitude. 2 minutes into the flight, the plane lost control, and started violently spinning. RCS is turned on shortly after, and the plane regains control. The crew begins their descent. They reached a height of 40 km, and Asus Kerman reports that she could even see the stars! However, with no land in sight, the plane will have to do a water landing. Going in for a landing. Landing success! The engines fell off on landing, but the plane is mostly intact. It's picked up shortly after, and brought back to the KSC, where repairs and modifications are going to be done to it.

Thanks! I couldn't really think of a forum that could work for it.
