  1. It'll be interesting to see how much the smallest one weighs. Now that we can do it with the seats, this shouldn't require some behemoths...
  2. A lower safe altitude caused by resonance between the orbit and the body's rotation would require a specific longitude of ascending node.
  3. The highest points of those bodies, and Duna and Laythe, means that you will be well within the atmosphere by the time you get close to those mountains. I'd like to see a vid of someone passing close to such a mountain regardless (like on the Mun)...
  4. Picking up samples, fixing damaged solar panels (with limited spare ones), riding segways...

This should be simple enough for me, I have added some small scale parts (small Skipper, Mainsail, LV-909, fuel tanks, nuclear engine based on the LARS system, one man lander can (glorified external seat that can have stuff glued to it), SRBs), so I should be able to do this with a reasonably light launcher. Edit: The small parts are appropriately scaled. They are half the size, and so have 1/8th the capacity and mass (some have 1/4 the mass if they are hollow, like fuel tanks - dry mass, and the lander can), 1/4 the thrust (ie 1/4 the cross sectional area)), and 10 - 20 seconds less Isp. I'd feel sorry for the poor Kerbal inside, but since they are immortal...
  6. So, pictorial visualisation of my journey to the Kraken. On launchpad, 28680kg. In orbit, 2930kg. In stable Jool orbit, 310kg. In Bop Orbit, 240kg. (Barely visible) By the Kraken, 210kg.

  9. Here at Squid Space Program, kerbals never need laxatives. Those with constipation buzz the tower at mach 2, and their problem is instantly solved.
  10. I changed the throttle keys to the right shift/control to alleviate this.
  11. While TAB cycles through planets, Shift+TAB cycles in the opposite direction.
  12. Note: I don't have pictures yet, as I am currently at uni. A short time ago, the space probe Customdime III landed on Eve, in the Sea of Norvarh. Amongst the 60% Mercury and 35% Lead found in the Norvarh sea, the centrifuge on the Customdime isolated a new material, and testing of the density revealed a density of 300kg per litre. Jebediah ordered a robotic mission to bring one ton of Testium back to Kerbin, to find a use.
  13. I'm currently working on getting Testium from Eve (I'm pretending it is a really effective nuclear fuel in Eve's oceans), that I can use for d/v intensive missions like this (that will involve a low solar orbit, too... maybe...)

  15. Hmm, if I were to do a Grand tour,I'd use a modified one man lander can that is essentially a glorified EVA suit that can be glued to stuff, and some high tech nuclear engines (*cough* Liquid - core NTR *cough*)
  16. You could just weld two ports to different parts of a planet. Boom! Planet spanning space station.
  17. Not really. I once had a kerbal about to softly splashdown in an ocean, and he was happy to no longer be in a decaying orbit. Then I cut the 'chute. He realised one second before he died.
  18. Launch stability. 10 little xenon tanks are less stable than one big and wide tank.
  19. For added ion engine related parts, I'd like to see some 1m and 2m tanks. Increases stability and reduces lag.
  20. I avoid making launchers massing over 250t, and with more than 100 parts. Standard payload is usually 15 - 20 parts. Then again I do have shortcuts: Mini-RTG and probe core in one part (with mass increased a bit) Array of ~8 solar panels and ~8 struts in one solar panel (as above) "Clown Car" 1m Pod - holds 250 kerbals. I use it to roast those kerbals on a very low solar orbit...
