Since the subject of the thread is the overall direction the game might take, let's please not get into arguments over specifics of coding things which aren't even in the game yet, okay guys? Some of you need to take the angry tone down a notch, and if you do want to discuss details of coding, please take it to the off-topic lounge, since it's not really about the game anymore at that point. Thanks.

Different Galaxies to explore
Vanamonde replied to Bearsh's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Hello Bearsh. Since a galaxy ranges in size from millions to hundreds of billions of solar systems, that would be pretty ambitious to add to KSP. I think you meant solar systems of one star with a few planets? However, there are some subjects which have been discussed so endlessly that they've been added to a list of What Not to Suggest because there is little new that can be said about them, and this is one of them. We like to keep our discussions moving, so please look that over before suggesting other subjects which might be on the list. (Thread closed.) -
Hello Bearsh, and welcome to the forum.

They've got their own, now.

If I recall correctly, from mid-April 2013 to early-October 2012 was wiped. So it was around 6 months' worth of content and memberships.

Multiple planet flybys

Moved to gameplay questions. -
Look over the bug reports section and notice how often the moderators have to remind people that "It's broken!" is not a bug report which can be usefully acted upon. Having even more players flood the forum with even more of this sort of thing would only clutter the forum for other readers, frustrate the players experiencing the bugs, and increase the dross that Squad has to wade through to find reports with the proper and required information included. That is why the testing team was invented in the first place. If you are *really* sure that you want earlier access anyway, apply to join the testing team. Squad puts out a call for applications from time to time. But if you do, understand that you will be required to carefully observe how the game breaks, write up the report properly and fully include such things as links to uploads of your game saves, and learn how to use the bug database which the testers use to present this information to the developers. Also, keep in mind that you wouldn't be able to mod the advanced copies of the games you'd be testing. That's because there are simply too many mods for Squad to be responsible for making them all mesh properly with the stock game. In short, it's a job rather than fun and games, and a it's a job for which you would not be paid.

It shouldn't break a stock save, but there's just no telling how a new version will interact with mods made by third parties. There's simply no way to know which will work and which won't, though chances are good that at least some mods will be broken. Try it and see, but then report your results in the mod forums, since general isn't the proper place for that.

Would this thing get me to the mun? Career Mode!
Vanamonde replied to Vane's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Getting to Kerbin orbit is hard. Getting places from Kerbin orbit is relatively easy. Therefore, upper stages can be quite a bit smaller than that and still return from Mun. I'd suggest cutting your lander roughly by half, and shift those parts to the lower stages. This would keep about the same dV, but you'd discard a lot of empty tanks sooner, making the mission more efficient and easier to fly. As for the other stage, I second Starstrider32's suggestion that it could also be subdivided for similar reasons. -
What are the uses for the Galileo spacecraft?
Vanamonde replied to aaronbetsy's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I think this thread is past its use-by date. (And in the wrong spot.) Closing now. -
Let's add this to the existing thread for .24 so all the discussion is in one place.

As has been pointed out, Squad doesn't announce release times. Besides, as we've recently seen, complications can force deviations from planned timelines anyway, so there probably isn't a date to announce. And so, having reported that there's nothing to report, this thread has served its purpose.

Questions and tips thread moved to the questions and tips sub-forum. Carry on.

If you click on one of the green triangles of the warp setting display on the upper left, it will jump directly to that warp level. However, the sudden shift can magnify imprecisions in the simulation, wildly throwing your projected course around. It's not advisable. (Or at least that's what used to happen. I haven't tried it for many versions now because of the danger.)

Hardcore mode with no saves
Vanamonde replied to Crusher8000's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Couldn't you just, you know, *not use* saves and reverts? Why change the software so as to disallow something that's already voluntary? -
They were also used intensively in some aspects of the Vietnam War. Not in fluid, WW2-style battle, but as bunker busters and mobile hardpoints.
