  1. The second version was actually widened a bit, but it's still not enough to fit 2.5m parts.
  2. KSC, we've got a problem. Should't have attached struts to the decoupler.
  3. It's not supposed to be a S-IVB. Edit: I made it more accurate.
  4. That's still a three stage to orbit. Easy fix: give a lot of reputation to different people
  5. Well, I was experimenting with new composite engines and using a 20 mT payload as a benchmark. The spike+909 combo performed the best (and yes, I did test the LV-T30). BTW, the Aeroskipe was needed a while back; while the LV-909 hasn't changed since its implementation in 0.14.
  6. Am I the only one who only builds two-stage to orbit rockets? For some reason, I haven't built a three-stage to orbit launcher since 0.22. Here's my 20 mT launcher: Staging. The second stage engines are two LV-909s clipped inside Aerospikes for better efficiency and thrust. Payload separation. Here you can see the engines better. Made it to 80km orbit with 200 m/s to spare.
  7. The stack separators are connected to the edge of the interstage(which is hollow), solely to reduce the gap between the stages. I was also able to make the center engine shutdown automatically, for verisimilitude.
  8. BTW, the S-IVB has 3 ullage motors, and the retromotors on the S-IC are on the radial engine cowling.
  9. IWhile flying your rocket, I notices that the interstage would blow up when you stage. It bothered me quite a bit, so I built my own interstage for the rocket, but this time it's hollow. No pics right now, but I'll post them later.
  10. I made the instructions from memory, so it might not be very accurate to what should actually do. If you were flying without a payload, you should be able to achieve a 85 km orbit and still have more than half of the OMS fuel remaining. If you can make a better set of instructions, please do,
  11. Seven, just like each of the boosters on my SLS.
  12. Just because they're " pre-built" doesn't mean you can't be creative with them. Check out this thread to see some examples: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/43086-Open-Source-Construction-Techniques-for-Craft-Aesthetics?p=1066932#post1066932 Personally, I love the LFB; it's the only engine from the ARM pack that I use. I NEED its high thrust, efficiency, and low part count. If When they nerf the ARM engines, I hope they don't touch the LFB.
  13. Two LFBs clipped together inside a tank: 4000kN
  14. I built my shuttle first, then the booster, and then built a new shuttle and strapped the old booster to it
  15. The only engine that should be nerfed is the KR-2L. I facepalmed when I saw the stats before the update was released, and sure enough, those specs stayed. They should reduce its thrust to 1200kN.
  16. I love the LFB! It's the only ARM engine I've been using, because I rely on its high thrust and efficiency. Hopefully, they won't nerf it. The greatly reduced ocean lag is also a plus.
  17. I've had my rocket explode on the pad before, many because I attached big tanks to a 0.625m part. That got me thinking- since some joints are weaker than others, is it possible to make a mod that weakens joints?
