  1. Surprisingly, my attempts to build a gyrodyne were less successfully than the autogyro. The mass of the powered rotors are the biggest problem. They offset the center of mass so much that the forward flight engine has to be very high above the fuselage; making it susceptible to exhaust damage from the rotors. I think I should make something like the Rotodyne - jet (or in KSP, rocket) powered rotors at take off and they would autorotate during level flight. I have also tried to build a stock cyclogyro, but without much success, of course.
  2. Here's my stock VTOL with a swiveling engine. It can be found HERE
  3. Welcome to the forums! :D

  4. 8/10 I've seem you a few times before.
  5. Remove the the #0 from the imgur url and the album will look better.
  6. 8/10 You're that guy who makes random Pokemon stuff.
  7. You guys are missing the point. He's asking what Kerbals listen to.
  8. Aerospike's strange drag number make my X-33 very hard to control while re-entering the atmosphere. I added parachutes after that.
  9. Here: Barely got to orbit. Edit: I just noticed that I forgot to deploy the solar panels.
  10. Try it yourself: http://www./download/2uco386bdu6o3n2/XR-8.craft Just shutdown the engines and let it autorotate down (preferably more than 50 meters above ground, just to be safe).
  11. This one's my favorite: I was trying to make a cyclogyro (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclogyro), but it ended up looking like a multiplane from 100 years ago. It can only perform hops 1 meter above the ground (needs more wings!). I tried to make this: But got this:
  12. It has 4 to cancel out the pitching caused by only two rotors when rolling. This is because the rotors work best when they are beside each other, not in tandem. Example: Two rotors beside each other. To roll one rotor pitches up and the other pitches down. Rotate this configuration 90 degrees and rolling will cause it to pitch and along with the torque of the command pod, it will flip.
  13. I hope my stock auto-landing VTOL will make this challenge easier for me. I suck at landing with only jet power.
  14. Been there, done that. I built this a week ago!
  15. It was actually my own design. The cargo bay is based off the same concept, but it's a bit different. Mine's powered by engines and the cargo bay is powered by landing legs. Early version of my hinges:
  16. I did exactly that. There's a bar that connect the two engines so I can undock it and both will move at the same time. In fact, that was what the early versions of the SET had it. I didn't keep it because it was too heavy. I'll try it on a bigger plane next time.
