  1. I was without electricity for about 3 days, but other areas were hit really hard. One of my co-workers got her power back after 8 days... And it's pretty cold up here, too. The city set up warming shelters for whoever needed a place to crash. I stayed at home because of work, yay! Fun times. I'm guessing everyone's still recovering after the holidays and New Years, heh. Hopefully we can get back into the swing of things soon.
  2. No worries, guys, take your time and get better/deal with exams. Enjoy the holidays and all that I expected this part of December to be a little slow for the project, but we can get back into it full time in the new year. And yea, Audacity is awesome, heh. So simple and yet so many features.
  3. Hey guys, how are things? First of all, happy holidays! I hope everyone is having a nice and warm Christmas season Sorry I haven't been around lately, Toronto (where I live) got hit really hard by an ice storm over the weekend, I've been without power for the last 3 days. But I'm back now! How are things going with the module and videos?
  4. Huh, that's weird. I haven't tried it yet, but good to know that there's a quick fix. I've got TheCanadianVendingMachine to go next, if that's cool with you leax. You guys can work on your modules at the same time anyways, we can combine the saves after if we need to.
  5. No worries, man, take care of yourself. I'll PM the next guy on the list to get a module up in the meantime. And it's all good, Spyrit Take your time, getting a good video out isn't easy, but it's pretty damn satisfying when you do. Need any help?
  6. Woo, go Audacity! Seriously, it is one of the best free programs out there for recording audio. Like Cake said, you have lots of control over the volume and audio quality. What're you having trouble with? I'm sure we can help ya out. Also, updated persistance file coming "soon" . My days off weren't as relaxing as I would've liked, I've barely been at home. If anything, it might be better to fix the station's orbit after leax's module goes up, in case any adjustments other than the inclination need to be made.
  7. If you haven't come up with a solid idea, I'd recommend doing something like a hab module for the station. Keep in mind you can use up to 60 parts and have multiple modules (as long as the total part count is 60 or less), so you can mess around with a few different things. I've finally got a bit of time off tomorrow, I'll take a look at the persistance then and fix up the station's orbit. So I'll have an updated save file for you tomorrow, leax.
  8. Yea, go ahead and start on your module. What did you have in mind? Once Spyrit posts the updated persistance I'll grab it and fix the station's orbit, then upload it for your use.
  9. Oh, it did? Ooops, my bad Sorry Mr. Cake! And you can blame the station's inclination on me. I noticed from Destroyer's save that the orbit had been bumped up a few kilometers and the station wasn't directly on top of the base anymore. Probably after some time passed when Destroyer's module was heading to Minmus. So instead of fixing it (because I didn't realize there was a probe on the Mass Relay), I simply edited the save to place the station where it had been previously. So yea, the inclination is back to being slightly off, but I'll fix it once Spyrit's module goes up. I just wanted to get the file ready for him before that. As it is right now, we only have one rover that needs fuel, so we probably won't need a whole lot of extra. And yea, it's tough to judge how those docking ports will align. The RCS will definitely help, though. As for the station, I'm pretty sure we've only got space for one Kerbal in the commander's cupola. Just bring a new one along, we can leave Cake on the surface Speaking of which, we will definitely need hab modules soon, for both the station and ground base. Poor Cake is just standing there staring at a rover, heh.
  10. Just a note, would you be able to add a lateral docking port to one of those modules? So it just kinda sticks off the side (check out the Hermit Shack I landed on Minmus for an idea of what I mean). This'll allow the rovers to simply pull up to the side and dock. Unless I misunderstood, you've just got the docking port underneath the shuttle. Or will the service module do all the refueling business? Either way, it's a fantastic idea, looking forward to the final product! I doubt you'll have much trouble on Minmus, two NERVAs should do the job, unless you're super heavy. Gotta love that low grav I've also combined the last two persistences, so use this file, Spyrit: https://www.dropbox.com/s/a3m3njj4jcqdjha/persistent.sfs Also, when you stop by the orbital station, would you be able to leave a Kerbal behind? I completely failed to add a probe to the station core and someone *cough cough*Cake*cough cough* sent the commander down to Minmus I'll try to fix up the orbit a bit if you can provide us with a new guinea pig...err...Kerbonaut.
  11. I like both of those options! A fuel tug will be very useful, but so is having a dedicated transport between the ground base and station. Maybe try to combine the ideas? A shiny, bigger shuttle with maybe a small tug attached to it, so you can still do a fair bit of fuel transfer. That way you can leave the tug at the station while the shuttle heads down to Minmus. If needed, the tug can be sent back to Kerbin and the shuttle can also serve as a transport between Minmus and Kerbin.
  12. Thanks Destroyer, that TRON bike looks great!
  13. Nice, great work Destroyer! Love the TRON bike And yea Spyrit, go ahead! Use Destroyer's persistence file. I'm not sure if that includes Cake's module, but if it doesn't then I can combine the two saves afterwards.
  14. Here we have Cake's submission, an artificial gravity ring and mass relay for the Minmus station: Keep up the great work everyone!
  15. Yeah, that's probably a good idea. It'll be tough to coordinate everything, though. I'm thinking that the best thing would be to get everyone's modules ready and in orbit, at which point someone can take over (probably me ) and launch all the things where they're supposed to go. My reasoning is that it'll be much easier for one person to ensure that all the modules reach their new orbit, at which point we can pass the file out again and construction can begin. Good stuff, man! Your game audio was a bit loud at times, but it's fine for the most part. Nice landing with Cake Kerman And yea, I was having so much trouble getting that station set up in a perfect orbit, I just kinda gave up when it was "good enough", heh. Also, I can combine the two files once Destroyer gets his up.
  16. That's fantastic news! Hopefully we can make something worth showing off You're welcome to check out what we have so far, there's another thread set up with all of the submissions (link in the first post). The first phase was the two stations built in Kerbin orbit, currently we're working on Minmus, and next will probably be the Mun. I dunno when we'll have a "finished product", heh, since we'd like to populate the entire system if at all possible. Just about to send him a PM. He's usually pretty active, so chances are something's come up. If you'd like, you can go ahead with your video. Use the persistence file from Cooly, it's somewhere on this page, we can just combine the two saves afterwards. And yea, will do Leax You'll be coming up soon.
  17. The persistence will go up when Destroyer's module is ready to go, I'm sure he'll post it somewhere. Should be coming up soon
  18. Both of those could work. A hab module for the obvious reasons. An army of rovers (with 40 parts that might be an army of tiny rovers, heh) would be hilarious. As long as they can dock to the base for refuelling and other such purposes, we'd be good. That's actually giving me some ideas. Imagine a few of those little guys that could combine together to form a super rover. Hmm... Anyways, once the persistence file gets posted you're welcome to go next, Destroyer. Weasel might still be involved, but he will go later in the order once school dies down. In the meantime we can get Cake to start working on his module(s) for the station.
  19. Nice job on the video, Cooly! I'd say you're good, heh. With that rocket engine, the solar panels spoiler, and the RTGs on the front, it's pretty obviously a space hot rod. I bet it can make orbit no problem. Around 10 minutes should be fine for a cinematic type video. Between building, launching, and getting to your destination (then maybe doing some stuff there) you should have a good bit of material. Don't stretch it out just for the sake of it, though. Go for whatever you're comfortable with and have fun with it (that sounded kinda cheesy...)
  20. Alright, I dunno if Weasel is still able to join us. Gonna wait a day on a reply to my PM, and if he can't go then we'll get Cake in there instead. I've also PMed Cooly, so he should be going very soon. Also fixed the Minmus station's orbit so that it's now equatorial. As far as I can tell, anyways. I did a few orbits and everything looked good. I'm sure it's probably still off by a little bit, but it's really hard to judge without a reference. I also moved the ground base core into the ice lake, I hope that's cool by you Dharak. It'll be easier to build on flat ground and it's now a good distance away from the Hermit Shack, so we don't need to worry about those extra parts interfering. Latest persistence with all the changes here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2ioedr0pmg0yimd/persistent.sfs
  21. Four people that are allowed 60 parts each, so a max of 240 parts on the station. I want to keep the parts count manageable, so that people with lower end PCs will still be able to enjoy the builds.
  22. Hmm, that's a good point about the orbit. I believe it'll actually be geosynchronous, not stationary. So it'll stay at the correct altitude, but there'll be a slight "wobble" to the orbit which will probably mess it up. I'll fix it and post the persistence later on. As it is right now, we're all full up on the station as well. With the higher part limit I'm not sure just how many modules we'll have. I spoke to WhiteWeasel about going next since he's going to be busy with school, but if he's unable to participate we'll slot Cake in there instead I'll wait until tomorrow before I send Weasel a PM to see what's up, then we'll go from there.
  23. And now it's time for the Minmus orbital station core! Set it up in an almost perfect geostationary orbit around Minmus. The core has a little bit of everything (other than rockets/fuel), plenty of power and RCS to last a good while. It also features an escape capsule for the Captain. Cheers!
  24. Ah, a fan of the suicide burn, I see I just like to get in as low an orbit as possible and basically come to a stop right above where I want to land. It's fun flying along at a silly high velocity while only at a few kms away from the surface Anyways, here's my video: The persistence file can be found here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2ioedr0pmg0yimd/persistent.sfs Like I said in the video, the station is not perfectly aligned along the equator, but it is set up in a geostationary orbit above the ground base. It's maybe 1 or 2 degrees off. I can fix that if anyone really cares, I just didn't want to mess up its current orbit, heh. EDIT: Oh hey Cake! You must've made your post at the same time as me, heh. There's a link in the opening post to the submissions thread, you can find the playlist and all the videos there. And welcome to the group! So the others are not all confused, Cake messaged me on YT about joining the project. While we may not be able to get you in this time, we'll definitely find a spot for you in the future. Everyone please give him a warm welcome
  25. The second phase of the project has begun! First up will be dharak's contribution to the ground base, with the very important base core. Check it:
