  1. Cool, will do! Yeah, I'll be fixing up the first post here and on the other thread today, now that I've finally got a day off. I'll also be recording my video later on today, so it'll probably be going up tomorrow. And great work, dharak! I don't mind that you moved my Kerbal, it'll give me a chance to take a fun trip around with him once we have a few rovers on the surface. Though he might go back after And you could totally do a lander with 6 parts! A very tiny one, heh.
  2. The latest persistance file should be this one: https://www.dropbox.com/s/lq9on5c41qdch80/persistent.sfs Sounds good, Spyritdragon It'll be nice to have a small fuel transport. The station core will have all sorts of docking ports, so you won't be restricted to just the large ports. Speaking of which, I've got the module built, just need to get the video recorded. Also, is everyone alright with this build order? Station: Nauthy WhiteWeasel Leax Goose Ground Base: Dharak Cooly Destroyer Spyritdragon TheCanadianVendingMachine Holo
  3. Hmm, I'm not sure about that. I don't think the mass of the module matters, so it should stay around the same height. Then again, those new legs are different, so...yea. Thankfully we're building on Minmus with it's low grav! And I like that core! Nice and compact. How many parts are you looking at? You can totally go first on the base, if you'd like. I've been super busy again lately so I haven't had a chance to work on my module. Go ahead and put it up whenever you're able to, I'll work on my core separately and just combine persistances if it comes down to it.
  4. Hehe, the I-beams are a cool idea. Might even be doable if it doesn't eat up too many parts. I won't get a chance to record my video until Sunday to officially kick off phase 2. Does anyone have a preference for going first on the ground base? Otherwise we'll just do the random order again.
  5. Yeah, I'm not super worried about us being able to get things docked, it would just make it a bit more convenient if there was a standard. It doesn't have to be perfect either, just something that can be easily recreated. We can always use the engine trick or a bit of RCS to move things into place if things are not aligned. As for the lander, it might be tough to dock that with the base, so it's fine if you don't. It'd be cool if we could get a landing pad or something for it, though. Even if you put a docking port on the side, you might still be able to dock, it'll just be a bit awkward. The rover parking lot is a good idea, too It won't have to be fancy, basically just a wall with some ports for the rovers to dock to.
  6. We should get started asap, sorry for holding things up. Not everyone replied to my PM, so there will be fewer of us involved this time. There was also quite a bit of interest in building the ground base/rovers, which might be a problem for the station. This got me to thinking of modifying the rules, so that you would be able to build however many modules you want, but with a max overall part limit (say, 60 for the station, 40 for the base?) Let me know what you guys think, we can always tweak things. The build order will be finalized later, but here's what we've got for Phase 2 so far: Station: Nauthy Goose Leax WhiteWeasel (Probe comm system around Minmus which would be a great idea...maybe you could also add a small module to the station? the Mother Probe ) Ground Base: Dharak Cooly Destroyer TheCanadianVendingMachine Holo Spyritdragon (transport between base and station) Did I miss anything? I think I've got everyone where they requested. There's a couple of things we still need to address. I will be launching the core for the Minmus station, unless you want the honour, Leax. Anyone on the ground base have a preference for going first? It should be someone not sending a rover. Speaking of which, I'd also like to get a discussion going here about rovers vs. stationary modules. With the modified rule about parts we can definitely have a bunch of rovers and small modules, but everything needs to be able to dock together. A bunch of separate modules does not make a base. So whoever launches the first part of the base will need to have at least one docking port close to ground level, which will then be used as the standard. It should be set up so that it's fairly easy to recreate, but thankfully Minmus' gravity will provide us with some leeway. I think that's all the stuff I wanted to cover, but if I remember anything else I'll let ya guys know.
  7. Heh, fair enough, you guys on the fuel depot can use the mass relay and we'll take the slightly safer option As long as you're not one of the Kerbals strapped to the outside of the KES, it's totally safe!
  8. My video for the KCBP, the Kerbal Escape System: A small redesign will be coming to remove the extra seats, but it should be good as is. And with this, the first phase of the project is finished! We might go back to Kerbin orbit eventually, but our next destination will be Minmus, for an orbital station and a ground base. Join us again!
  9. Check it: The Kerbal Escape System, can carry all of the Kerbonauts from the Orbital Station back to safety. You guys on the Fuel Depot are kinda screwed I will post the persistance later today. I want to do a quick redesign first, but it won't be too different from the current, so I figured there's no need to record another video for it. I'll be able to shave off a few more parts, I'm a big dummy and apparently didn't realize I added too many seats. This time when I launch it I'll also make sure to disable crossfeed. In off-camera tests it was able to deorbit (from the station's altitude) and land safely with a tiny bit of fuel left, but only when the tank was full. Edit: And here's the persistance file, have fun! https://www.dropbox.com/s/lq9on5c41qdch80/persistent.sfs
  10. Sorry about the delay, everyone! The video is rendering right now, so it should be up at some point during the night. I'll give everybody a heads up when that's done. Also, I went through and renamed a bunch of the Kerbals. I've got everyone covered, but I just used your forum name, so if you have any special requests lemme know and I'll get it changed.
  11. Hey, sorry, I haven't had a chance to check out the persistance, been super busy the past couple of days. I'll take a look tonight and let you know if everything's fine, then I'll work on my module. My video for it will go up on Wednesday. Also, we are probably going to be bumping up the parts limit to 50 or so for the next phase. We have less people and it'll give everyone a chance to put more detail into their builds. Edit: Got everything working You can learn quite a bit from poking around inside a persistance file, heh.
  12. Awesome, guys! Really happy with the number of replies I quickly got. I'll wait one more day just in case, then I'll figure out the build order. We've got a lot of interest in the ground base right now (no surprise there), but we should be ok for fairly even teams. I even thought about maybe setting up two ground bases, one as the main base and another as a small outpost. Lemme know what you guys think about that. I still want to have a station go up at the same time, too. Spyritdragon, did you post the merged persistance file? I'm not sure if I missed it. I'll be able to record my video in the next couple of days. Heh, I hadn't heard about that, good to know. I've been planning a Mun base for a while, but since I'm not very good with them I've avoided building one. Looks like it's a good thing I waited!
  13. We'll be doing the Minmus thing, ground base and orbital station. I just sent out a PM to all the people involved in the project so far, to gauge interest and see what we can get for the second phase. As of right now, I'd probably say no to new applicants unless it was a special situation. We should have at least 12 people, if everyone that worked on the Kerbin stations wants to continue with the KCBP. I'll set up the build order this weekend, once I've gotten some replies and I'm certain that we've got a good number in the group.
  14. Great! I'll get ya that persistance file. Goose provided me with the link to it, but I didn't save it and Steam's chat logs are pretty terrible. No way to access anything more than like half a day old. Anyways, I'll post that asap. EDIT: Here we go: https://www.dropbox.com/s/1yt227f2zvl5l62/persistent.sfs
  15. Wow, I guess I missed a bunch of posts, I somehow skipped over everything on the previous page. Sorry to hear that, leax The other guys busted out some pretty good advice for ya. Don't let this get you down! If anything, treat it as a confidence builder. You had the balls to say something and that's a step in the right direction. Just keep in mind women are something we will never fully understand, heh. And great, happy to hear that, Spyritdragon! Glad you were able to get it redesigned and docked, even though it sounds like it was a painful process. Post that slideshow, I love seeing failed attempts
  16. Latest video in the project just went up: Goosexi's contribution brings a Habitation Module to the science station, as well as a small Mun Outpost. Check it out and let us know what you think!
  17. What's wrong, man? I know what'll do the trick: blow something up! Nice video, Goose! The hab modules were a good idea, it makes the build feel more like a proper station. Gives it some much needed size. I do wish that we had some other parts like the Hitchhiker's Storage, maybe a longer cylinder with a huge space inside (and IVA view, of course). Like a docking bay, but without the doors. It'd be a lot closer to an actual hab module. The Mun base is neat, too! If a bit wobbly when moving, heh, though I guess that's to be expected since you can't strut some of those things. We'll have to rename that as the Goosexi Outpost or something I think it'd be cool if we set up a Mun base nearby, but out of render distance. We can use the outpost as a tourist attraction or something, heh. When you get a sec, if you wouldn't mind posting the persistance file as well. And Spyritdragon, are you cool with merging of the two files, then? I'd rather not get frustrated and screw up a bunch of times if you already know how to get it done. Oh boy, this means it'll be my turn coming up, whee! If all goes well I'll be recording my video tomorrow or the day after, so we'll be all finished with the first phase soon. Time to start thinking about what you want to build for Minmus! I'll figure out the teams again, let me know if you'd prefer working on the ground base or the station. Cheers!
  18. The persistance file is really just a text file, so we should be able to just combine the two saves. I haven't done it before, but I doubt it'll be too complicated. Hopefully...
  19. Yeah, it's totally alright if you launch your module now, we can merge after. Goose's video should be up soon. I know I've said that before, but it's true! Just spoke to him again a couple of days ago and things are going well, there was just an unexpected delay.
  20. Happy to hear that people aren't really having lag issues. What about those on lower end systems? I don't want to add any more modules if not everyone can get a chance to play around with it. And the orbital shuttle idea sounds good, Spyritdragon! It'll be useful to have for any crew/fuel transfers or whatever other adventures those crazy Kerbals will get up to. Also, I was thinking about making an escape module, so hopefully I should have that whole safe re-entry thing covered
  21. Cool, thanks for volunteering, guys! I'll keep that in mind after I look at the parts count. I'm currently not having any framerate issues with either of the stations, but I've got a pretty beefy computer. What's the performance like for everyone else?
  22. My Star Trek knowledge is a bit lacking, but that's a Klingon Bird of Prey, isn't it? Not sure where the image is from, though. Still, can't wait to see what you're comin' up with! The next one should be coming out soon. I spoke to Goose yesterday and he was working on his module. By the way, I hope it's cool with everyone, I allowed Goose to build a separate thing from both the stations. I know it kinda goes against the rules, so I do apologize for that, but it will be awesome enough to make up for it! I figured it would be good publicity for the project if we had our biggest YouTuber do something a little special. This also means that there might be some space left for more modules. When it comes around to me, I'll take a look at the stations and see how we're doing on the parts' count. So if anyone's interested in maybe putting up another module, lemme know down below and we'll see if we can work something out.
  23. Ooh, that sounds mysterious and exciting, lookin' forward to it! And Goose is working on his module, the video will probably go up within the next few days.
  24. Hehe, seems like everyone enjoyed the wonderful destruction. I'm kinda tempted to build a militarized module for the science station, to ensure those pesky fuel depot folk don't get any fancy ideas. Anyways, a couple of quick updates. Unfortunately, Hoojiwana had to drop out Goose should still be going up next, I'll speak to him asap to confirm that, after which we have Spyritdragon and myself. And then we're done with this phase of the project, whee! So that just leaves the decision for where we're going next. I believe there was some common interest in doing the Minmus ground base/orbiting station combo, which sounds like a great idea to me! Any other suggestions? I'll make a final decision once the last module for our current stations goes up.
  25. Now that the forums have returned I just figured I'd give this thread a bump. Please check out the submissions and tell us what you think, everyone!
