Heeey, the forums are back! I enjoyed that quick video, leax What better way to show off our hard work than to blow it all up! Who doesn't love explosions? Let's finish this project up, friends! Esinohio, I'm not sure if you video went up, please let me know and I'll make sure to add it to the playlist. As for the people going next, we've got Hoojiwana up on deck, with Goose to follow afterwards. I'll be sending out some PMs tomorrow to make sure everyone's still on board. Hopefully the forums going down didn't affect us too much.
-
Nice esinohio, good call on that docking arm! Would you mind also posting your video in the other thread when it's up? Thanks! And in case anybody's wondering, the reason we skipped over WhiteWeasel's module is because he had to drop out Hopefully he'll be able to join us again later. Hoojiwana, if you want to go up next, you're more than welcome to! 25 parts will be good, but feel free to make the module a bit bigger if you need to. I think we're sitting pretty good on parts count, though I haven't checked in a while. After that, we're pretty much done with the fuel depot! Spyritdragon's module still needs to get up there, so we'll finish up the science station in the meantime, and then close out the first phase of the project! I'll be making some sort of outro video at the end to tie things up neatly. Again, great job everyone! It's a pleasure to be working with all of you that have contributed and stuck around
-
Oh man, would that ever be awesome. It sounds like you want to build an Eve city Definitely doable! Well, except for the hydrogen balloons, though we could probably figure out a way to fake those without using mods, just for looks. I love the idea of building a huge base, but the only problem is, as always, the lag. I've also gone through and played around with the persistance file a little bit. I noticed when watching Holo's video that there was still a bunch of debris around. Maybe the wrong save got passed on at some point? As far as I can tell all the modules seem to be present, so I dunno. Either way, all the debris around Kerbin and the Mun has been cleaned up. I also renamed the stations so their names aren't as long, heh. You can find the file here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mkznb43r3s821hh/persistent.sfs

Glad to hear that, hope all your exams went well! Your spot is definitely still open We'll figure out the launch situation when you get back, but everything should be fine for you to go whenever. As for the 0.22 update...yeah, that whole science thing... Well, we can probably leave the stations as they are for now and just call them outdated, heh. Then we can include those science parts on future builds. Minmus ground base is probably a good idea for the next build. I say we get a station going up around Minmus at the same time, so we can have modules with more parts that way. Though dedicating everyone to a ground base only might also be interesting, it would make for a huge base. One of the biggest issues we'll face with a ground base will be the standardizing of docking ports, since they'll need to be at the same height for things to attach properly. So again, it might be better to have less people on the base just so it's less of a hassle. We definitely need to get something on and around the Mun as well, it seems logical to go there next after Minmus. After that...so many possibilities! An Eve station would be great, that's such a nice planet. Getting a ground base there too will be more difficult, but totally worth the trouble, I think. I also had an idea for getting a large interplanetary vessel built and then sending it to various places, but it might be better to hold off on that until we have a few more stations around for it to visit.
-
I hope it's not dead either! Did it really go that far down the list in so little time? Let's get some more discussion going, that'll keep it active. We can definitely start thinking about where the project's going next as we reach the end of the first phase. It seems like a lot of people are cool with the idea of building a station/ground base combo next and Minmus is probably the best option for that. It takes a bit more to get out there than the Mun, but it shouldn't be too big of an issue. I also wanted to ask you guys what you think about getting more people to join us. I think I would rather stick with the current group, the ones that have uploaded modules or are definitely going to, since that way we know what to expect. It will also allow us to up the parts count a bit as we have less people involved than we did at the start. As for the current build, we've got WhiteWeasel up next. I just spoke to him, so hopefully we'll be seeing his module within the next couple of days!
-
The newest module by Holo just went up with some xenon storage. Everyone please check it out and give us your thoughts on the project so far! We're nearly done with the first phase of the project, just a couple of modules left on both of the stations. Hurrah!
-
Yeah, I love the idea of doing a station/ground base combo for the next build and Minmus is a really good option. I'd also like to get something going around the Mun at some point, but there's no rush. Depending on how many people we get for the second round, we could definitely up the part count and maybe have something like two stations going up (one at the Mun, one at Minmus) as well as a ground base on Minmus. And great job on the module, Holo! Having some xenon up there will definitely be handy if/when we build some probes to send out into the system. Also, that's probably the ice lake that I land in most frequently on Minmus, hehe. These stations are lookin' awesome, everyone, keep it up!
-
I'm sorry to hear that, Spyritdragon You are more than welcome to join us again when we continue the project. And if we're not done with the stations in a couple of weeks we'd love to still have your module go up! I've spoken to WhiteWeasel and Holo, who are both working on their modules for this week, so hopefully we'll be seeing those soon. The save file is currently in Holo's hands, let's give him another day or so before passing it on. And that docking arm sounds like a great idea, esinohio, so if you want we can set you up next. The sooner the better for something like that. I'd be happy to let you join us, but I gotta mention a couple of things. As it is right now, the only space open is on the nearly complete science station (unless someone from the fuel depot wants to switch over), so docking might get a bit laggy. We also have a set of important rules set in place which you'll find in the first post, please give them a good read. Also, do you have a YouTube/Twitch channel for uploading your video? Other than that, welcome to the party!
-
That looks good, bud! Pretty cool concept, too, I hadn't heard of it before. Now I need to get on KSP and try that out And no worries about taking a few more days, we should be able to get at least one more person to go before then. I'll keep everybody updated, of course.
-
Heh, yea, the project's definitely taking longer than expected. I guess it's no surprise with this many people, though. I spoke to Holo and he should be able to go soon, should give you a few more days if you aren't able to launch today. Keep us updated!
-
The music choice was very good, it fit perfectly with the video. Audio quality was good too, though I found it maybe a bit too low. Not a huge deal, though, and the build itself was wicked. And great job on the cool cinematic video, TheTriniFlyer! One of the most original ideas I've seen for a module so far
-
No worries about the part count, TheTriniFlyer, the module looks really sexy the way it is. Good job! Spyritdragon, are you cool to go on the fuel depot? I'm gonna send out a round of PMs to the next few people, but there's not much left! In fact, the science station is just about done. Ddavis had to drop out, so it's just Goosexi and myself left for that. The fuel depot still has a few peeps left to go, though, hopefully everyone on that team can still participate. I've also (finally) set up a Reddit discussion here, drop on by and check it out. It should bring some new viewers to the project!
-
Great module, leax! It adds a few necessary things to the station (ie. solar panels and smaller docking ports) in a nice compact package. I also very much enjoyed watching all those failed launches
-
Good stuff! I've got a playlist running on my channel to which I'll add all the videos. You're more than welcome to make your own as well That's a nice looking module! 30 parts is fine, but like leax said, if there's any way of removing a few without impacting the quality, then please do. Maybe by taking out a few of the panels in the center? Though that'll reveal what's underneath (looks like one of the 3m-2m adapters). Still, it might not look terrible, up to you!
-
Great job, leax256! Wish I'd gotten a chance to see the live stream, but I was way too late I checked out parts of the video, you ain't kidding about that epic SSTO, heh. Looking forward to seeing the edited version! And TheTriniFlyer, I'm totally cool with you going up next, if you'd like. I don't want this project to get in the way of anyone's studies or work. KSP is pretty awesome, but sadly real life is more important. So do what you need to do
-
Still nothing from Rocketscience Hopefully everything's fine on his end, he seemed really pumped to get a module up when I last spoke to him. I was also gonna recommend doing a fuel dump before launching, it will make a difference. How about flipping it on its side, so it sits horizontal? And then build a launch stage with a wide base underneath. It might make it a bit more manageable, as the weight will be more spread out. Of course, a million struts or so will probably still be needed, heh. Would you like to go next? It'll give Spyritdragon a bit more time to work out all the kinks with the launch. Up to you guys
-
Yea, this was an unexpected break I PMed Rocketscience last night to see how things are going, but haven't heard back from him yet. So I say we wait one more day, just in case, and then we can have Spyritdragon take care of his module. We can always just combine save files later if both modules happen to go up at the same time. And I'm in Canadian EST (or EDT? silly timezones...), which should be GMT -4. I'd be interested in watching the stream, KSP failures are so much better when you can laugh at 'em with other people, heh.
-
Sweet, happy to hear that! I'll make sure to update the info on the first page. As for the name, hmm... I'll throw my vote in for the first option Yes please, his module should be going up soon. It'll give ya some more time to work on the booster stage. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with, the launch is definitely going to be an interesting one!
-
I love the idea of having specially named Kerbals up there. I'll definitely go through the files at the end and make sure all of our Kerbal equivalents are on the stations Also, I'm really digging that module design, Spyritdragon. It's cool how neatly everything stacks together. And here I thought Hoojiwana was the only one crazy enough to launch that many tanks at once! I've also edited the rulelist to add one more concerning the use of mods, since I forgot about that before. As for the next module to go, we've got Rocketscience101 who'll be bringing a sweet telescope to the science station. Spyritdragon will then follow up on the fuel depot.
-
Nice, can't wait to see that telescope module! You can find the save file here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/lvzpt1drw0xid8w/KCBP.rar Just copy the "default" folder into your KSP install folder -> saves folder. Rename it if you need to, since it'll overwrite your current "default" folder. It should work just fine on a Mac, pretty sure the persistance/ship files are compatible across operating systems.

Argh, I feel like a jerk for not posting here a couple of days ago, when the latest video went up by Cooly. Check it out, the link is in the first post!
-
Oh boy, it's been an exciting couple of days, huh? Sorry I haven't been around to help defuse the situation, work has been rocking my face off again. Thanks for keeping things civil, guys It looks like things have calmed down, so let's figure out what we can do to avoid any more issues in the future. Cooly, your modules were pretty badass, dude. I really enjoyed your video, too, you've got a good sense for editing and it was highly entertaining to watch. We're not upset with you or anything, have no fear! I'll take part of the blame myself, I should've made a concise list of all the rules before we started building, so everyone had an idea of what's what. In fact, I'll be doing that here (as well as adding these to my first post)! These are things we've all agreed on throughout the thread, so hopefully there's no confusion. It's understandable if someone missed a rule when it was being discussed, so we'll have this list for reference. Anything else you guys would like to see added, lemme know! KCBP Rules: 1. The limit of 25 parts per module, this is perhaps the most important with so many people involved. We need to keep the parts count as low as possible, since we all know how bad the lag can get, especially for those with not so beefy PCs. There is a leeway of 5 parts, in case of an emergency and you absolutely need to add a few extra pieces. Keep in mind this still means you should aim for 25 parts, not 30. We're currently over-budget on both stations, so we have to keep a close eye on this for future modules. 2. No docking dead-end modules. If you take up a docking port, there should be at least one additional docking port on your module of the same size. Station-to-station ports should be Senior-sized. Should be pretty obvious why this rule is in place, we don't want to block off the expansion. In the same vein, try to attach your modules to a port that makes sense. We'll probably have to rearrange some modules around anyways, but as long as there's plenty of docking ports available it won't be an issue. 3. Debris - don't leave it behind! More specifically, when you launch your module, have a way of deorbiting any debris. Still, it's not a problem if you're unable to deorbit, as long as you ensure that you terminate its flight before posting the save file. We wouldn't want a random piece of rocket to crash into our awesome builds, after all. Keep those orbits clear! 4. Mods - they are sort of allowed, just not on the final module. It's no problem if you use mods for the launch, as long as whatever you leave behind on the station is built solely from stock parts. This also ties in to the rule above about debris, since we don't want modded parts floating around in orbit. 5. The builds and the order of uploading - please stick with what's been assigned. I don't want to be a jerk about it, but we've got so many people involved in the project that we absolutely need everyone to follow this rule. The order might change depending on the situation, but the builds we're currently working on should be our focus. The project will eventually have stations and ground bases all over the system, so let's take it one step at a time. 6. The recording - your video should be of good audio and visual quality, though that's a given. Let's put a time requirement on it, too, say between 10-30 mins. Most importantly, please talk a bit about the project and your module's intended purpose. Cinematic videos and such are totally cool as well, just make sure to leave a little tidbit at the end with the previously mentioned info. This is just to keep things a bit more coherent than it currently is, it might be a little hard to keep track of what's going on to someone unfamiliar with the project. 6. Please post your submission in the other thread. I don't mind if it gets posted here as well, I just want to make sure that the other thread gets the attention it needs. Since it's in the Live from Mission Control sub-forum, it only makes sense that the actual videos get posted there. I think I got all the important things? Again, please let me know if I missed something! It wouldn't be at all surprising, heh.
-
I've got a thread set up for submissions over in the Live from Mission Control sub-forum (link is in the first post). I got ya covered, though, no worries I'm sure someone else will be happy to make their own space fighter, heh. I know I definitely will if it hasn't been done by the time it's my turn! It also wouldn't be a bad idea to have a module go up with more docking ports, kind of a core 2.0. We can use the large ports for keeping most of the station together, and then have an extension going off to one side with smaller ports, for shuttles or whatever. This probably won't be necessary for a while, though, there's still plenty of other modules that we need first.
-
New module just added by The Destoyer, check out his video! And heya Cooly! I was actually about to PM you (and I will anyways in case you don't get a chance to check the thread) to see if you were able to go next. Kind of short notice, heh, but it's no biggie if you take a couple of days with your build. Keep up the great work, everyone! It's nice to see the stations starting to take shape.
-
I'm guessing you meant a completion date for the whole project, not just these two stations. 'Cause I certainly hope these won't take 'till the end of the year, heh. I don't know if we need a deadline, but let's see what others think. As for the next build, I'm totally down for a ground base, probably either on the Mun or Minmus. We can figure that out once we're finished here, we'll see who wants to participate again and take a vote. And nice video, The Destroyer! I dig the cinematic style, well done. I was half expecting a space fighter, though By the way, can I get you to make a post in the other thread as well? It's cool if people post their saves/submissions here, I'd just like to give the other thread some love, too, since it's in another sub-forum. Next up will be either ShachonianX or Cooly568 on the fuel depot. I think it'll probably be Cooly, he's been more active lately, but we'll see soon enough (once I send out some PMs)!
