What are NASA's odds for landing on the Moon in 5 years?
razark replied to Cunjo Carl's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Yeah, I noticed that last night when I looked it up. -
I've been trying to remember, and as best I can recall, my first docking was absolutely perfect. I'd watched a video on how to do it, and had no problems rendezvousing and docking. The second time I tried, I realized I'd just gotten very lucky and had no real understanding of what I was doing. It got better from there. Now, I get my rendezvous to less than 100 meters (or ten), and then dock pretty easily with the Docking Port Alignment Indicator mod. Getting the rendezvous close is very easy if you use the Kerbal Alarm Clock mod. Open it to set an alarm for closest approach to target, and it gives you a very nice readout of what and when it will be. Fine control of RCS will let you get very close.

Might I suggest that this post be split off and stuck at the top of the Suggestions section? -
How can you change your kerbonaut's head?
razark replied to Spiderksp's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
I'm not sure how to go about that. You'd probably have better luck asking in that thread. -
I don't think there is one. As long as customers are willing to pay for additional content (whether that's parts, mechanics, sounds, music, whatever), then DLC is justified. Look at the flight sim community. There are people that will spend considerably more than the base game for a single aircraft, if it is well done. Put out good work, and some people will be happy to compensate you.

Kerbal Space Program DLC: “Breaking Gound” Grand Discussion Thread
razark replied to UomoCapra's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Define, please. Make sure you include objective standards to measure what "actually matters". Define, please. Make sure you include objective standards to measure what makes an update "significant". Not sure what you're referring to. I've made plenty of vessels that work. Two, or twenty? What are you even talking about? Potato in my vesicles with red marksmanship yesterday, Robert? Stop being a source of income and see how much they really don't care. -

Have you tried hiring a psychologist? Perhaps a guillotine and some sewing skills? As a last resort, you might check out the Texture Replacer mod. I think it's the one that does it. -
Kerbal Space Program DLC: “Breaking Gound” Grand Discussion Thread
razark replied to UomoCapra's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Well, the main point of some people's arguments seems to be that a company charging money for a product is immoral. I'll ask you, though, how is the game supposed to improve if the company has no income? If I had to follow some pre-set course of missions, it would sure as hell change my gameplay. Yeah. I've been asking my boss for a pay raise and less work, and my landlord for lower rent, but they just ignore me, too. Those stand-up guys sons of mothers that were unwed (yeesh...). -
I really need to learn to stop restarting, and maybe I'll actually make it to Duna.

Kerbal Space Program DLC: “Breaking Gound” Grand Discussion Thread
razark replied to UomoCapra's topic in KSP1 Discussion
So, you think DLCs should add parts, which mods can do easily, but that they shouldn't modify gameplay, which DLC/Expansions have been doing for decades? There's no storyline now, so that would be a complete and utter change to gameplay, which you just said you were opposed to. The money is going towards me getting some more content. As long as they pay the dev staff, I really don't care, nor have any say in, what the rest of the money goes to. That's how profits work. There's nothing at all that says the money from DLCs has to go to improving the base game, rather than [snip] management parties. And? Can you show me, prior to the original announcement that before KSP existed, that anyone was asking for KSP? Squad is not obligated to add requested, and only requested, content. If they wanted to add unicorns and 8-bit renditions of swing music, then that's their prerogative. -
You have got a point there. I've also been in the flight sim community, and there are companies built on products that are basically nothing but paid mods, so that may also color my thinking on it. I mean, I paid money for an airplane that was already in the base game.

X-Wing was one that came to mind. The other one was Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe. Ha! I always feel old. I count (by most lists I've seen) as the tail end of it, myself. However, I've found that the division by generation to be a very general correlation at best. I've found myself being able to talk to some teens and some elders and feel much more of a connection than with people in my own age group more often.) But then, am I a typical example of my generation?) As I said, Gen X. My (ok, the family's) first computer was a kit my dad built when I was five. But he was an electrical engineer, so he was toward the leading edge of that movement.

Do DLCs get a hype train or a lesser hype vehicle?
razark replied to Nightside's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Wait, what?!? I thought all that stuff was by that one band, The British Invasion! You mean there were two of them? (Of course I know. The other band was Beetlemania, right?) -
I'm kind of curious now. There's (broadly) two groups here, those that think the DLC should be a usual update, and those that are fine with a paid DLC. I would love to see the general age breakdown of those two groups.

I thought the Magic Bus took you on a Magical Mystery Tour. -
Yeah, I was buying DLC in the '80s and '90s back when it came on disks, was sold in a physical store, and was labeled "Expansion Pack".

So, I have a modest proposal to solving the energy crisis and overpopulation. -

That sounds very familiar. My coworker and I have pretty much said "The only way to get promoted is for someone to quit or die." -

"You're my boss. Shouldn't you know what I've been doing for the last year?" We do self-evals. Write it up, copy goals from last year's (if there was a last year), fill it all out, send it to the boss, who makes up new goals and signs off on it. Additionally, there's various bits of "does his job", "knows his job", "shows up on time", etc. that he fills in. I've seen my boss maybe twice this year. He's not really involved in the day-to-day business of what we do, and the work has changed in the decade since he was in the same office. Or, that's how it was last year. It changes every time. I'll take a college test (or two) over having to fill out annual evaluation forms.
