Oh, I dunno. Throw in lots of jokes about Kerbals being blindingly stupid creatures that build everything out of junkyard waste, fill the other half with lots of explosions and meaningless deaths, and I think you've probably got a hit movie that perfectly captures the KSP spirit! Just make sure to drag it out to the point where the repeated jokes are run into the ground, and it's sure to be a record-setter!

Yes. After the name "Freedom" was dropped, it was referred to (at least internally) as "Alpha"1. Then, it became "Russian Alpha", or "Ralph" for some internal discussions, before "International Space Station" was settled on. 1It's not directly listed on the page, but there is a section: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Station_Freedom#Freedom_(1988)_to_Alpha_(1993)

At one time. There was also "Alpha". Then the Russians got involved, and it became "Ralph".

The Space Shuttle: A Remarkable Flying Machine
razark replied to sp1989's topic in Science & Spaceflight
My comment was in regards to an abort during launch, with knowledge of the foam strike. At that time they would not have had any evidence of serious damage, beyond what they believed was within the realm of what they had experienced on previous flights. -
That's just so old-fashioned. Maybe twenty years ago, it would fit. Now, it's liable to blow up in our faces.
-
I'd doubt that, with the existence of KSC. Of course, Armstrong Flight Research Center already had that name.
-
Naming it after the location seems to be the precedent that's been set. I would not argue if it was named Armstrong [Base|Station], either.

The Space Shuttle: A Remarkable Flying Machine

And even if they had known about the strike at the time, there was no evidence of damage and widespread belief that the foam would be unable to cause significant damage. -

It was too late to do anything about it at that point. The problem was earlier, when they accepted foam shedding as a normal thing. -

Are you watching the original versions, or the ones that were updated with better effects? -

I believe you mean the spider's backpack, now. -
However, ground temperatures tend to be more stable and wouldn't vary as widely, remaining colder the deeper you went.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rammed_earth One method of Martian construction I recall hearing about was just burying buildings under soil. Air would leak out, and moisture in it would freeze and seal leaks.

I was referring to Persephone Rupert. I'm just saying there's a rather popular one between "Eve - Gilly" and "Kerbin - Mun" missing from the list that nearly everyone has spent some time on, and some players seem devoted to spending all their time on.

I'm pretty sure I don't exactly disagree with you, but I'm not willing to entirely agree with you quite yet. I'm going to have to put more thought into that. (There's something wrong, but what it is, I couldn't say at the moment.) That's why I like to use a hot air popper. I've never had burnt popcorn with one. My problem with the one I have now is that it's too short and throws out a lot of unpopped kernels that I have to throw back in. I learned that tech support is largely a matter or learning to BS a customer while simultaneously doing a google search and sorting through results. I also learned that doing a google search for error messages simply returns a list of pages that display the same error message.

You're missing a planet.

I've read LotR and Hobbit, but I haven't read any of his others. I like the movies also due to the way it really seemed to capture the epic feel of the world. It just draws me into it.

There's no single answer to that. It varies with my mood. But quite often, I'd probably answer with The Maltese Falcon. (Can I claim Lord of the Rings as a single movie?)

I refer to looking for stuff as "desk archeology". I can tell how old something is by the layer I find it in.
