  1. Andrew Chaikin's A Man on the Moon I recall not being too bad. Also, The Right Stuff is worth reading.
  2. I want it, but I've been using KCT this long without even thinking about it, so I can't say it's a critical need. Just an idea that occurred to me. If it's more effort than you feel like going to, I wouldn't complain.
  3. Would it be possible to have an option to always default to an empty ship? I almost never want the default assignments, so it would be nice to have the Crew Selection start off with empty seats.
  4. I figured that anyone on this forum that's at all familiar with the space race wouldn't need that information. Of course, it doesn't hurt to clarify it, so thank you. I did find it interesting seeing how Skylab-like the station was in the years when the lunar landings were still ongoing. It really helped to drive home the idea that the programs were not a strict sequence, but were actually running parallel to each other.
  5. Change the date on your computer? (Of course, that's just too much effort for me to go to to avoid a silly little amusement. Not that I am usually around the computer during the loading screen, anyway.)
  6. Marooned is possibly worth seeing. It's Apollo 13, except with Skylab, but made before Apollo 13.
  7. I've been using Kerbal Construction Time. When you select to launch, it pops up a crew selection window. It's a wonderful thing to have.
  8. Was it? Hrm. Must have been a different system. Ours came in from the west, moving east. Thought it was coming in from the Western end of the state, but I seem to have deleted the email they sent us about it...
  9. That's absolutely ridiculous! Your estimate is way too low. You've forgotten to figure in the cost of engineering a way to fuel the SSMEs with saffron, as well as actually converting the engines and fuel system. There's also going to be the procurement process to acquire the saffron, plus how many lawyers and other suits to write up the contracts? And testing. How well do NASA's current engine test stands handle saffron-fueled engines? That's going to take a team to figure out how to reconfigure the testing procedures. Not to mention the enormous quantities of saffron that will be used for the testing period. Now, we're going to need storage facilities for all the saffron. Do you think NASA just keeps saffron-storage sites available? Of course not! We're going to need contractors to build these things. But wait! How much saffron can be stored in a single location? Have we done studies on bulk storage of this much saffron? Do bulk quantities need special handling? How much saffron can we fit into a silo before it reaches critical mass? Does anyone have an MSDS sheet for saffron? What Personal Protective Equipment do we need to provide for working with saffron? We're going to need to science and engineer the hell out of saffron before we're going to be able to provide a full total cost of fueling even a single shuttle launch with it, much less committing to an entire flower-stamen based space launch economy.
  10. It was some pretty strong wind gusts. I got soaked walking through the parking lot, since the rain was going sideways and my umbrella was inverted. The rain was heavy in spots, not steady. It was pooling up on the road, though. There were a couple of places that had some decently deep water in intersections.
  11. We got the line you got this afternoon. The bad part didn't last too long, but I happened to be out driving when it came through.
  12. Gulf Coast of the US. I've been through a couple of direct hurricane hits, some tropical storms, and a handful of near misses.

  14. TAC Fuel Balancer can dump fuel in flight, among other things. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/139223-ksp-v122-tac-fuel-balancer-v212/
  15. "Administration Building", "Program Office", or "Contracts Office"?
  16. I prefer to make my own stories, rather than follow someone's prewritten one.

  18. Assume nothing. It was stated that the missions could only be shared with others with the DLC.
  19. I'd like to see some more details about it before declaring what it might be worth. So far, all I remember seeing is that it's neither scenarios or career. Which leaves what? Some new game mode we haven't heard about?
  20. Don't you like the color "dusty yellow"?
  21. The coast-dweller asks how the humidity is...
  22. Mechjeb covers a lot more than the tiny bit of functionality that pilots provide. Describing it as similar is quite a bit of a stretch. Just a little. I also couldn't tell how serious you are from your posts. For a serious answer of "Why do pilots do what pilots do?", then the answer is simply that Squad decided that's what pilots should do.
