no need to say "some of the most dangerous phase", the landing and the take-of are the most dangerous phases, once you're high in the air there's no need to panic (well, unless there is a plane collision that cause one the plane to literally cut trough the other plane with it's vertical stabilizer, separating completly the cockpit from the rest of the aircraft; leaving no chance of survival... I don't want to frighten you, I'm just saying that there is a non-zero chance that you fall to your death, being aware of it for several minutes without being able to do anything to save yourself.)

I forgot about fairings! I have an interplanetary rocket, the front is not aerodynamic at all since the fuel fuel tank for the CSM are radially placed. I guess I will have to choose between safety(no fairing and a escape tower) or efficiency(using fairing, but it leave no place to eject). EDIT: ninja'd
