[0.20] RemoteTech: Relay Network – V 0.5.0.1
dishycourier replied to JDP's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Thanks! I usually only link to plugins, but I'll also keep in mind the drag issue. I'm thinking 10k max for the whip. -

JDP, do you mind if I add some compatible parts to the M-209 SPHERE? Is there a limitation on dish and UHF you'd like me to impose for the system? -

[.19 PARTS] JebCorp M-209 SPHERE ball probe system

I don't disagree. But you just downloaded it and tested it for me though, right? :-D Future versions get TWR and fuel consumption changed. Trying to work out isp numbers as well. -
[0.17] Electrical Energy Plugin | v1.5 (Oct 12)
dishycourier replied to Kreuzung's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
If it sets you at ease, I'm planning on getting as close to your numbers as possible. None of this 48 thrust/.something consumption. It will be slightly less than LFE's, but not to the level of cheat parts. Thrust is capped on my engines now at 42. The batteries have been cut way down as well. The real number I'm having an issue with is where to put the reactor. Current mass is 4 and it holds a lot of power, but the recharge is slow enough in 1x. The issue I'm getting to is that when you're waiting for injection, the damned thing refills back to overcharge very quickly at 4x+ -- I don't really want this. There are also some smaller RTG models I'm sitting on. Is it possible to have a mission timeout for them in a future version? Or, if possible, an internal fuel supply to sip off until dry? I managed to set a reactor to eat liquid fuel, but nothing else. I gave up on it a while ago. Also: planned panel efficiency somewhere around %13. -

Noted! I was a bit confused about the size changes. -
Watch both of these, the first one at least five times. http://cgcookie.com/blender/2011/01/21/intro_uvmapping/ This should help. the easy way: Once you've unwrapped, click on uv's in the image editor window and select export. Open that .png you've just created in photoshop (or gimp, fireworks, etc. Whatever you use), add a white color layer, select the area you want to edit and go to town on another new layer. Keep the original png layer on top as a guide for your area. Save as .psd, save as a COPY png. Leave the original export intact. Open your COPY png in the image editor with image-> replace image Make alterations to your skin or unwrap and save as copy png (overwrite) (it's easier to just make an action that does this) and then go to blender and hit alt R in the image editor. It will update the texture. Hit Alt-z in blender to show textures in the viewport once loaded into the image editor. If you make changes to your mesh, just unwrap and re-export. Delete the original png layer in photoshop and file->place the new one. Not the most technically proficient way to do this, but it's the easiest way I can explain it.

[.19 PARTS] JebCorp M-209 SPHERE ball probe system
dishycourier replied to dishycourier's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Yup. I split the sphere at the center, so it should be 1m. You're lucky I wasn't paying attention -- it was supposed to be .5m. You'd have to strap it to the micro SRB. I have a set of triangle trusses I was playing with. It's sturdy enough to have the truss extend the middle and put a payload on it. Hrmmmmm...... Can't do much with it until Friday though. -

I'm not entirely sure what this does, but I appreciate that command pod looks very familiar :-D I'll give it a try. -
[.19 PARTS] JebCorp M-209 SPHERE ball probe system
dishycourier replied to dishycourier's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Incorporating a few fixes into 1.01. Next release will also include the M-12 launch vehicle. Comes with an aeroshell coupler and fairing, by demand. 1.75m, capable of SSTO -- Maybe. Spysat is on hold for the week. Hexagon has a rough shape though. Some fine tuning and I'll cut it up, complete with fairing. This weekend though you'll get M209 1.01. -

[WIP] Pluto Analog - Further out than Jool
dishycourier replied to Hofugir's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I know I'm really no one, but I'd rather see this thread focus on the possibility that this isn't a troll. Dear Hoff, Please post a screenshot and inspire some hope, even if it is a little rough. Please also consider using the heightmap for Jita IV-4 for your planet, as no doubt, we will all die getting there. -Dishy. -
[.19 PARTS] JebCorp M-209 SPHERE ball probe system
dishycourier replied to dishycourier's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
With a long list of other things, I'm looking into airbags and parachutes. I don't think I can do the bouncy type like the Mars rovers, but there has to be some way to do them. I will have to take a look at how the Prometheus rover does it and then consult them for tips. Currently, my parachute is stuck deployed and does nothing. I've missed something in either the config or the model. -
[.19 PARTS] JebCorp M-209 SPHERE ball probe system
dishycourier replied to dishycourier's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Sure. The only reason I did it with consumption is because I didn't do the math. I was shooting for a 1.5-2.1 TWR for the system. Much less for the film canister version. -
A system of magnetopheres, solar wind, and related parts

Anything science related is always on my list of things to support, especially if it can be used to generate awesome pictures. -
[.19 PARTS] JebCorp M-209 SPHERE ball probe system
dishycourier replied to dishycourier's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I've sent the RC kit to my tester and we'll see what he comes up with. No real model change yet, just a spike antenna and some conduit lines. I guess I'll be learning Unity this weekend. I've been putting it off long enough. I really do have a lot of stuff to animate and do normal maps for. As soon as the results come back from Sixteenbit, I'll incorporate changes into 1.01. I probably won't change the collider mesh, so the antennas will be functional but cosmetic. What I'd really like to do is have an ISA mapping section. I had been playing with spysat sections that both map and photo, but the new version of ISA mapper will not work with anything but folders named ISA_Mapsat*, even if the module is correct. -

dishycourier replied to dishycourier's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Damn. That's something I hadn't thought about. I'll do another set of sections with various kits and distinct (enough) looks. What should the range be? Antenna or dish? Do you want a micro-dish, whip antenna, duckie? (Note to self, reconfigure Spertnik to have antennas for RC) -
[.19 PARTS] JebCorp M-209 SPHERE ball probe system
dishycourier replied to dishycourier's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
The size is my own attention to detail. The ball was originally conceived as 50cm or 75cm, but I wasn't paying attention when I started cutting it up. I'm planning a parachute cap, some camera adjustments, and some animations in Unity. The film canister version will be smaller, darker, and have a more "intel agency" look to it. The science kit will be replaced with a parachute and the engine will be replaced with a single nozzle. I've got about 30 parts completed in all-around stuff, completing a few more for the spysat (when not playing Borderlands 2, add me on Steam if you want, PM me for an add). I'm looking to get into Unity this week, and I'll probably be asking some of the regulars for some input on that as well. If everyone wouldn't mind sharing this week what they either loved or hated about the probe, this would help me tweak both civ and military versions as I go. -
[.19 PARTS] JebCorp M-209 SPHERE ball probe system
dishycourier replied to dishycourier's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I think it's partially due to the position of the SAS unit. I don't think the center of mass is correct. Test runs ended with me kart-wheeling on the mun. For more fun, strap some landing legs to it and go pinwheeling! I find that the roll is better to use than yaw/pitch. -
Updated first post with renders of parts I'm considering "finished"
-
I can do a low-res texture set if that works. I'm just using the standard 1024x1024 for my unwraps though. One of the many careers I've given up on was commercial artist. Some of the textures aren't as detailed as they seem, I'm just cheating to make them look like they are-- hard lines, bright colors, small unwrapped surfaces on a larger portion of the texture.

I've never had any problems. I could put it on my own webserver, but then if people like it, I'll get hammered. What service do you suggest? -

I accidentally landed it in the water outside of the KSC, stuck it on its side and throttled up. 60 meter wall of water chased behind before the engine ripped off:-D I'll look into making it a little more maneuverable in the water. I've been having waaaayyyyy too much fun with this.
