This looks great! Do want!
-
Overdone is definitely an understatement. Here's an alpha version of some of the parts mixed together. Everything but the dishes and panels (probekit) are mine: 1m lens in its glory, model and texture are still being worked on: Triangle truss visible here: Bonus updated multioptix after suggestions. Originally, the lenses were actual 55, 80, and 140mm. Now they are much larger. One of them still says "Kerbolta" :
-
Ok. Working on both suggestions. I've got another surface that's just a huge 1m lens to go with this as another mission section. I've been thinking the "mission computer" (we'll just call them that for now) would house an S.A.S. and whatever mechanics the lenses would use. So for this surface, should it remain as a cap section or be extended as a full on telescope? I'll finish a few of the other sections to give an idea. In testing, it looks really cool on top of a mechjeb 1m.

Mods/Cfg Edits That Don't Deserve a Thread
dishycourier replied to LaydeeDem's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
[reserving this slot] I'll jump in: Note: My edits always read Dishy Courier Counterfeit Components in the manufacturer, but always credit the original part maker/supplier. I do this so that none of my edited parts overwrite or conflict with the real ones. You will still need the respective plugins. Probodobodyne Camera (working mechjeb hullcam): http://www./download.php?ys397oumdk3q0co Probodobodyne Dish (working ISA mapping dish): http://www./download.php?ngbzolb56611wwi BACE kit extending solar panel (Now working with the EE plugin) http://www./download.php?1ucqeo25kc9wtqv Probodobodyne Solar panels (working) http://www./download.php?q6cngzatr3hcszf I have more, but they are pointless to the public. I'll release them later. -
The film return canister (pod) and bonus Jeb9000 are done. While Jeb's not exactly a part of this set, I wanted a new radial mount Jeb that was a bit more inconspicuous. None of these things have effects in Unity yet, so nothing glows. Eventually, Jeb's camera will glow and the screen on the canister will glow.

Don't let a lack of community input stop you! Nutt seems to always be there in new threads giving support, but you could post all day without much comment unless you're Dani-Sang or Nova. Don't let that stop you. As far as modelling, you might want to take a look at Blender for meshes and Gimp or Photoshop for textures. Blender's Achilles heel is its lack of documentation, but googling usually reveals everything you need to know. Check the forums for the thread on the basics of a ksp part -- there's a quick tutorial on how to make a simple model and collider node that explains the basics you need to get moving. Just be sure not to post anything you didn't make or don't have permission to use Good luck!

[1.0.2] NovaPunch 2.09. - May 6th - 1.0 Compatibility Update
dishycourier replied to Tiberion's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Good to see this pack back. It's probably the most essential pack for KSP and a standard of any install I have. -
As for the wires and tubes. I had a ton for a while, but the game really bogged down on load, so I decided to use the box shrouds instead. I got to a point where I had so much detail it didn't make sense. The thing is only 60 cm tall. Balancing is an issue. This thing could be abused. Holds: 600, charges to 1200. Regen is about 1/second. What I don't want is a universal cheat part. I'm working on building in a fuel source. I can make it run on liquid fuel, but custom fuels really bug out a bit.
-
Working out some details with the mesh and texture. Part works though. Generates about 1 energy/second. I'd ask for criticism, but no one ever says anything, so this is what you'll get: Fun fact: "137 revisions to Dishy_SP.reactor.png in the last 4 hours." It was rough to settle on something. Even the mesh:
-
It's cute and would be perfect for a the command section, but Spertnik is really meant as an unmanned satellite and sort-of clone of Sputnik. I'll update it and refine it a bit more after the spysat.
-
My new favorite model after fixing the texture:
-
It's actually pretty close. I actually really like this model. It's not historically accurate, but it looks cool. Not a lot of time to work on the rest of the sat-body today, but the color scheme is about the same. The whole thing feels too simple, though. Like It needs more bobs and bits to look realistic. Because, you know, it's not as if spysats just look like giant space-tampons, right?

Seriously awesome work. The textures are just... wow. -
Reverse Thrust (retrograde) [NEED HELP!] with addon making
dishycourier replied to ohadqumpo's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Be sure to stage it properly in your setup, too, or you'll get both directions of thrust at once. -
Cleaning the mesh up for this one. Going all 60's with the texture, I think. The multicam surface DOES work, sort of. Fov gets wierd when not up close (Read: zooming doesn't do much in space, but it looks cool when traveling over land or close to the munar surface). Do you want it now so someone can test it, or wait until the whole satellite is done? Also, I can model a solar panel, but I can't animate it without about 2-4 hours of studying that I don't really have. Anyone up for it? And as always, critiques? Yes, I know the shroud doesn't connect properly. I might make it a bit shorter, too. It shows up in the cam view a little much. That's the mesh issue I'm fixing
-
alright. this thread is now updated at the top post with a layout of things I'm working on.

Orbital Sciences & Saftey ll Cygnus Alpha Release 0.1.1
dishycourier replied to LaydeeDem's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
This looks great. I'll be waiting to download it! -
Yes and no. I used an open source model and was able to bring it to a reasonable number of verts for Unity to handle (at least on my machine). I'll probably revisit it at some point and model him myself, then sneak it into a parts pack without mentioning it, but that's a way off.
-
Sadly, this one won't be available. Although the model is open source, I don't own the copyright to it. KSP devs are pretty strict about that. Besides this, there are so many polys in his hands alone, it takes almost forever to load. If you don't have an awesome machine, your framerate will drop to 3/sec if you try to drive up to it (I confirmed this with a laptop). I COULD recreate the whole thing on a much more basic level, but that will take time away from the real mods. There's also another issue, you have to cheat to get him there. The base alone is a 1000 thrust engine... Here are a few more shots. http://imgur.com/a/ccvrJ#0 As far as Nutt's excellent, legit, and classy tribute -- I don't want to steal his thunder. I just meant to share and commiserate, as well as celebrate the achievements of a man whom I could never be. During my first attempt at catching the Mun, in a videogame, I became instantly more aware of how hard what they accomplished was.

Thank you. Honestly, I was pretty upset when I heard the news. I did nothing else all day. He was the first "I want to be that when I grow up" for me. Not Slash or Marty McFly, Neil Armstrong.
