  1. So far the pinnable periapsis/apoapsis in the map screen is my favorite new feature, but changing the command pod has become by far my most used new feature. You're awesome, Harvester!
  2. Multi-port docking is totally doable, but if the ports are slightly off, it might not work. My station is made of triple-docked pieces, and they go together just fine. Never attempted any sideways multiport docking though. Example of quad-docking: I know Scott Manley has a video on this topic, too.
  3. Hey Namesplosion Welcome to the KSP forums! What the other two posters are directing you towards can be found [thread=24898]here[/thread]. One thing that is strongly recommended is giving your own challenge a go, and posting the results when you open the challenge. This sets a mark for everyone to shoot for, and can help to clarify what you want the challenge to accomplish. In the case of your challenge, am I correct to assume the craft would need to be reconfigurable so the command portion of the craft can be moved to the side? If so, I think a lot of player's space stations already fit that category. Also, I'm a little confused about the "either <22500 or en route" requirement. With one you would be dealing with the atmosphere, the other... really nothing. Would these be in the same category? Also, how would someone go about winning this challenge? Lastly, is this something that players are going to find challenging and fun? As I'm sure you could guess, that one can be a little harder to predict. Usually though, if the challenge is well planned and presented, you'll get some clever participants. If you'd like to take a look at an example of a format that usually leads to a successful challenge, I'd suggest checking out [thread=27296]this thread[/thread]. Have fun!
  4. A jumping Kerbal can make the other Kerbals around him smile, too.
  5. Yeah, I had one like that too. Per KasperVld, it has to do with starting the craft with a physicsless part, such as a girder. Evidently it's a known bug. Not a bad way to get around though!
  6. Exactly what the game was missing!
  7. No need to feel stupid! (Hint: We knew because we've all done it 100 times ourselves)
  8. Like everyone else is saying, you can just manually move the file. I recall hearing that sometimes, you need to change the TYPE in the file from SPH to VAB. I've never had a problem with that, though. Haven't done it in .20 also.
  9. I had completely missed that now your orbit's Periaspsis and Apoapsis are pinnable in the map screen. (Click on it once, and you can move your mouse away) I'd been hoping for that little tweak for a long time!
  10. *Ninja'd by Cypher* That vid is awesome
  11. Wow sturmstiger! I wish all the challenges were this well thought out/laid out! I look forward to seeing the entries!
  12. Hey ouion Is the challenge to go to get to Duna in the same manner as the video? If so, you might want to list what some of those objectives would be. Actually, [thread=24898]an example[/thread] of what you mean would be best!
  13. Hey AceGamer I'd suggest taking a look at the support forum. [thread=24543]This thread[/thread] gives a pretty good run down of the info (logs etc) that is usually helpful in diagnosing issues. Closing this thread.
  14. Totally do-able. I wouldn't write off docking, though. Granted, it's your game, play how you please. The main reason I suggest it though, is that when you do successfully dock something, you will feel a immense sense of accomplishment. Seriously. I haven't found a game that can deliver on satisfaction like KSP (probably because you are on your own since square one), and docking is a big part of that. It's difficult to master, but it can be fun because of that.
  15. In the back of my head, I had expected something along the lines of the Flash version of Portal. Really, I'd settle for some kind of Kerbal mini game. Maybe the Kerbalizer could be ported over to mobile, though I've never used it. It's not already, is it? I could see the mod community producing something. I doubt the Dev team would devote the time/resources to some mobile project while the community is hungry for core game updates.
  16. I agree with Jack. Seems like we lost some intangible quality when the forums crashed. I think it might have been taking out the "ecosystem" of existing quality threads, which will come back. Also, during the crash, some folks probably jumped ship and took up residency on Reddit.
  17. The specs changed somewhere around 18.2 I think. Before, I recall there be "minimum system specs", but now there are just the "recommended specs". Again, I am guessing here, but I believe that has to do with the good ol mem crashes. You can run KSP on a computer below the recommended specs, but chances are you are going to get crashes on your 2nd or 3rd launch when the mem usage spikes. So, sub-recommended specs will get you a playable but somewhat unstable game. (At least in my experience, before building my current rig with RAM overkill)
  18. Hey Snrasha You might want to think about defining what your challenge is about. Is this a challenge to go fast in Kerbin's atmosphere? In Kerbin's SOI? "Only Kerbin" doesn't really tell anyone what they should be doing to participate in this challenge. Is [thread=27296]this[/thread] along the lines of what you were going for? If so, I'd suggest figuring out what is different about your challenge, and try to clearly lay out how people would participate. Remember, it's the rules that define the game. If English isn't your first language and you think you might want a hand in writing those rules, feel free to PM me.
  19. When you look for maneuver nodes on Google Maps (while right clicking all over the blasted thing) When Kerbal specific terms make it into your daily vocabulary (LKO, Perikee, Asparagus Staging etc)
  20. Wow... I didn't think I would get the results I did! Started off with a ring design, then I realized the simplicity of sewerbird's method was probably something to emulate. Boxes on poles. That's about it! Flew her up, got umm.. can't remember who the guinea pig was, into place and fired up the little radials for rotation. Poor little guy was pinned to the wall immediately! (I don't think he was having fun) Best part of the test for me? Climbing up the ladder and letting go. Damned if he didn't hit the floor like a sack of potatos! (couldn't really get a good shot of that in action though) EVA RCS either wasn't powerful enough to lift him, or the game got confused with all the rotation. Either way, he wasn't going anywhere. Wasn't able to walk around, seemed more like when Kerbals think they are falling on solid ground and freeze. Fun times! (Apologies to Sir.Mongoose if I missed one of the challenge requirements. I was mostly just playing around) ***Edit: Note to self: Next time, put some lights on the thing or time your launch for daylight)
