Planet Ideas And Names For The Future Of Kerbal Space Program
Whirligig Girl replied to Dead Pixel's topic in KSP1 Discussion
The problem with non-spherical bodies (like long potatoes) is that KSP uses a point source for gravity, which means that every gravity well is perfectly spherical, and the edges of the potato would be huge slopes that you would fall down, and when you reach the equator, you'd fall back to them again. -
It's been a long time since anyone discussed resources, hasn't it? Back before they pushed back resources, they were talking about how it would work. They said that it would take some time to mine and convert resources (and that the vessel had to be loaded). But now, HarvestR has said that you can not "Give the player controls to the TARDIS and a time limit" (not exact quote) So when science was implemented, there were no long duration science experiments. Problem is, with ore scanning, you have to have long durations for orbits, and you have to wait for stuff to be converted. I think that SQUAD may change their mind on that. How to fix it: Ore Scanning: Ore scanning satellites can scan while not focused. Mining/Converting time: Easiest solution is to make it happen instantly, the other solution is to timewarp or have the mining/converting work.

Epic KSP Theme song + Space theme (update 3)
Whirligig Girl replied to BahamutoD's topic in KSP Fan Works
HarvestR wrote the main theme, and SQUAD used Kevin Macleod's free music as well. I believe there were plans to replace and extend the soundtrack. -
Eeloo doesn't look like a planetoid in deep space. It looks like a moon, similar to Europa. It has almost no craters, and nothing to generate those cracks. it really would be great as a moon of GP2, make a new Pluto analog called Bluto (Blutonium in the power source for RTGs in KSP)

any other rocket families?
Whirligig Girl replied to deepspacecreeper's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
The problem with Mulbin's rockets is that they lag too much, and are built with form before function. I am building a modular rocket family called the Mars Rockets. -
LOR, with a reusable LM kept in a high Lunar Orbit (So you would get less gravitational distortion). It would be launched alone. Mission Profile: RHLM (Reusable Heavy Lunar Module) launch from Ares V. RHLM Is brought to the Moon, and is kept in a very high orbit to minimalize the Moon's uneven gravity. It is left there. HRCMPCV (Heavy Reusable Cargo Multipurpose Crew Vehicle) is launched on Ares IV-R (Reusable) with a (reusable) Lunar Transfer Stage. It then does LOR with the RHLM. Cargo/Crew to be taken to the Lunar Surface is taken from the HRCMPCV and moved to the HRLM. HRCMPCV Then tops off the HRLM's Fuel tanks. HRLM Lands and does stuff. Most importantly, it takes water from rocks and then electrolyzes water into fuel with a special device called TDTMWARFOR. HRLM Ascends to LOR with HRCMPCV in a lower Lunar Orbit. HRCMPCV puts HRLM into a Hohmann transfer orbit to it's higher altitude, tops off the HRLM fuel, and then the HRCMPCV continues burning to escape the Moon and fall back to Earth. HRLM Circularizes orbit. HRCMPCV Lands on Earth. Repeat HRCMPCV Launches, reuse all hardware. The Spacecraft are designed to be fully reusable (Aside from the infrastructure used to launch the HRLM), and very large. the HCRMPCV is almost half the size of the Space Shuttle, and a remarkable portion of that size is fuel for the HRLM. The HRLM is 25% bigger than the Altair, because 1: It's single stage; and 2: High orbits needed; and 3: More cargo.

The Oort cloud is not a hypothesis, it's just one of those sad theories that people aren't sure about, unlike gravity and evolution which although are a theory, they can pretty much be considered a fact. Yeah, even theories do sometimes have those layman's like [same-as-hypothesis] definition.

Creation "Scientists". But let's not get into religion, I'm pretty sure that's against the rules.

No, It had to have been good luck on your part, Exposure. I have never been able top save a Kerbal like that since 0.20.2

Fix SAS function
Whirligig Girl replied to Kasuha's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Yes, the Newest variation of SAS is much more wobbly. -
Currently you can only have subassemblies for one save without copy pasting it to another. I think there should be common subassemblies for all the save files, much like common stock craft such as Kerbal X, or putting your own stock craft in for all saves to use. The subassemblies should save to their own save file, but be transferable to a common stock folder.

How is it that the devs missed out on the fact that the music plays in a weird way? It starts out of nowhere, it plays in the scene transitions, and I would have thought they'd have noticed it, especially when some of the streamers on KSPTV noticed it before it was released. It is really breaking immersion. On a side-note, thank you for replacing the "There is no science to be done in career mode" with some real flavor text, but I think Kerbal EVA Reports could use more variety. In LKO, I Always get "You have recorded your observations". Some generic but still descriptive and immersive text would be nice. "You note that the planet is beautiful, especially considering there is not much between you and it, and nothing to get you back to your ship if your jetpack fails." "It really is round." "I'm floating in a most peculiar way." "It may have been one small step for [first Kerbal to touch ground of Mun], but it's a Moho of a big leap for me!" "It's like I'm Buck Kodgers in this jetpack!" Also, first crew report on the Mun: "That's one small step for a Kerbal, One giant leap for Kerbalkind."

A theory for why Kerbin's gravity is disproportionate
Whirligig Girl replied to JMBuilder's topic in KSP1 Discussion
In my headcanon, Kerbin and all the other planets are properly sized, it's just gameplay reasons why they are not.
