  1. Would it be possible to change the Space Center building background textures?
  2. I feel like making a list of possible idle EVA activities for no other reason than the joy it give me to make lists. Social - There are two or more idle Kerbals standing next to each other. -Roughhouse: One of the Kerbals punches the other's shoulder, and depending on courage of the other, he punches back or rubs his shoulder and frowns at the other Kerbal -Chatter: One Kerbal looks at the other and starts talking. The other Kerbal looks at the first and then responds if they have a compatible dumbness level (within 10%.) -Insult: One Kerbal starts yelling at the other. Depending on courage of the other, they might yell back or look down and frown. Idle fiddling. No other Kerbal is within 2 meters. -Examine environment: Science Career Only. The Kerbal takes a moment to take it all in. Looking at the sky, the stars, the planets, looking at the rocks and regolith, everything around them. -Hand movements: Basically the same motion that Kerbals in command pods do. Clapping, moving hands back and forth. -Stare at hand: Only kerbals with dumbness of 90% or higher do this. They just look concerned at their hand, moving it around, back and front of the hand. -Head bobbing to the music: Head slowly moves in a speed that matches most of the stock music. -Grasp Helmet: Just to make sure it doesn't come off. Walking around This can be disabled on the Kerbal's context menu, but a Kerbal might want to just walk around the lander or rover, jump a bit, stop, do some idle fiddling or talk to a Kerbal, and move away. Maybe fall around get back up again. Other -Worship. This is done if the Kerbal is within 15 meters of a monument or easter egg, and the Kerbal has stupidity higher than 50%. They turn to face the object, and bow down in front of it. -Chatter on Radio. Every once in a while, the Kerbal may chatter to seemingly no one in particular. Maybe he's talking to himself, maybe he's talking to KSC. Maybe he's chatting with the guy in the Command Pod. Maybe he's chatting with the other guys elsewhere on the surface. (If its the latter, the other Kerbals with chatter shorty after the first one chatters.) This form of chatter occurs always, regardless of whether you are in control of the Kerbal. You can turn it off in the context menu, however.
  3. Not to mention the advantages of the HypeTrain driver being able to set up an early arrival??? Nah, perhaps its better I ride with the community, to make sure we are all just as hyped.
  4. Additionally, the Star Trek TOS colors stockalike suit pack has been updated with Mirror Universe suits and variation in veteran suits. Mirror Universe suits.
  5. I am pretty much in the OP's exact situation right now. Actually it's worse. I'm getting burned out on space itself. Every time I see my Star Trek models on my shelf I smile and then cringe. I'm getting tired of a constant influx of New Horizons news. I'm trying to write a semi-hard sci-fi story and it's going nowhere. I play KSP, and end up just building a rocket to orbit. I try a mod set up, feel like its too unstockalike, and uninstall it, play again, wish for something new like a mod, etc. Now if I were a normal person who had interests other than space science, I would just default to that. Problem is, I only like space and trains. And trains don't give me much to work off of without an active HypeTrain journey going on. I think my problem is actually somewhat simple. I'm bored at home. I have too much free time. When school starts back up in August I will have something to do that has nothing to do with the Kerbal Space Program. I have often found that I am least depressed and most inspired during the school year. I hope 1.1 will help to renew my interest in the Kerbal Space Program. Only a new feature-set beyond the wheel changes and Unity 5 upgrade would do that I would imagine. Maybe robotic parts or movable rocks or IVAs would present enough of a change to really get back into KSP. More stock planets certainly would help as well. Not just moonlike or gillylike objects orbiting gas giants, but places with interesting physics challenges like storms or volcanoes or fast rotation. Actually that could give our current planets something interesting to do... anyway I have gone on a tangent. Actually what GregroxMun needs is social interaction, but he's too lazy to get out of his chair and to a movie theater or the mall or something.
  6. Crap. I knew I forgot something. I also did not intend them to be in CKAN I forgot to put the config together. The suits should be usable if you put the individual suit folders into the Suits folder. I'm reuploading with the config added right now.
  7. Steampunk TOS-colored suit pack, based upon the Green Skull Inc. Steampunk Space Suits, based upon space suits by Proot. Goes well with the Vertical Propulsion Emporium mod, just like the original Steampunk suit pack. KerbalStuff
  8. I need to convert DDS to PNG. What can I use for that?
  9. Are we allowed by law and your permission, Proot, to edit textures and post them with credit given to you? I'd like something to go off of for a steampunk texture pack.
  10. Can head textures be assigned to specific roles? i.e., having one head be an engineer, and another be a scientist, etc? The immediate conclusion would be that you could make a special civilian hairstyle for tourist Kerbals, one without a strict, short haircut. Another possibility would be to make the female hair band correspond to color-codes. Blue for science, yellow for pilot, etc. Or for having automaton robots with painted faces.
  11. Ah yes, of course! Another problem with the launch vehicle issue that I found when I have been playing with stock parts in RSS. My first ship that was able to make orbit was an asparagus staged rocket with a small 1-man capsule (though to be fair, I did have enough fuel in-orbit to justify the addition of a proper 3-man capsule) Problem is that Asparagus staging is really difficult in real life with modern technology, let alone steampunk tech. I suspect I could get some of the advantages of asparagus by just using excessive booster staging a la Delta-IV heavy with extra booster cores.. - - - Updated - - - Men and Women, if you're unrealistically non-discriminating for the times. Greenhouses would probably be used on interplanetary voyages, and for cislunar space I would imagine CO2 scrubbers could be used. If not, suppose instead we just vent the atmosphere into space (or maybe store it for RCS or something), and then replace some of what was lost with pure oxygen+nitrogen atmosphere. it would certainly get rid of the scrubbers. If someone can find any indication about when the life support CO2 scrubber was invented, thank you.
  12. Thank you. Thank you so much. Valentina Tershkova and Neil Armstrong's nose will be so proud.
  13. Rebreathers were developed in some form as early as the 1600s. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebreather#Early_history But I can't really find anything on when a proper CO2 scrubber was invented.
  14. Good to see this challenge is still alive despite my apparent absence in this thread. To be honest I forgot about it. The Asteroid Day Mod is stock as far as the challenge rules are concerned. And the bouncy-balls mod from last year too, why not? From now on I ask that if you would like to be put on the leaderboard, you must PM me. Otherwise I have to go through the thread and I might miss something or mix something up.
  15. Your avatar clearly enjoys trains to the extent of manslaughter.
  16. lay th (the th sound as in The, not as in Think.) One syllable.
  17. Neato, the Dynton-489 system reminds me of something I wrote not too long ago.
  18. 1. He's referring to wonderous vertical propulsion emporium. No stock part has a period/mark/point/fullstop at the manufacturer name. Relatedly, all of the first letters of the manufacturer words should be capitalized. Professor Kerbenstein's Wonderous Vertical Propulsion Emporium. 4. I agree with Barhandar. Ellipses don't look that great...
  19. This is written as a possible Reddit Weekly Challenge, but as it's probably not going to be put into service, why not post it to the forum? Introduction Jeb found a time machine hiding on top of the VAB, and has found himself in the past! The only other time machine is on the Mun (or if you're impressive enough some other harder-to-reach planet)! Problem is, Jeb is stuck before the invention of the liquid-fueled rocket, in the age of steam, cogs, and gunpowder rockets! The Challenge Normal Mode: Create a rocket using only SRBs, with no Solar Panels, and fly it to the surface of the Mun near some kind of easter egg or monument. Hard Mode: Create a rocket using only SRBs, with no Solar Panels, and fly it to the surface of the Mun near some kind of easter egg or monument, without using RCS. Harder Mode: Don't use map view. Super Mode: Impress me. The Rules -Your spacecraft must not use any Liquid Fuel or Oxidizer for rocket thrust. It can be used to generate power with a fuel cell, however. -You are not allowed any linear thrust with monopropellant. Monopropellant is for turning only. -Your Spacecraft must not use any solar panels or Radioisotope Generators for power generation. -You must not provide any screenshots of the location of the monument or easter egg, unless it is clearly marked as a spoiler. -Use of the O-1 Puff Monopropellant Engine is not allowed. -For a list of allowed mods, see this post. Required Screenshots -Your craft before launch -Your craft at every staging event -Your craft doing any major burns -Your craft landed on the Mun, next to a monument -Hardmode only Your craft launching back to Kerbin -Hardmode only Your craft landed at Kerbin. -Anything else you want, except for anything that would show on the map screen where the monument is clearly, unless marked by a spoiler. Further Information -If you have any questions, just ask in the thread. -This is written as a reddit challenge. -The downgraded SRBs from the 1.0 update present a rather different challenge than they did in 0.90. It is considerably more difficult. Bright side is that you can use RCS for turning your bigger rockets.
  20. The mirror universe version of me temporarily took over my profile and the HypeTrain network.
  21. Can I make a suggestion, Mr. Avera-niney-joe, Average Joe, or Avera nine Ee Joe? A stock color pack that corrects some of the colors to a brand-wide standard. Jeb's Junkyard uses yellow and grey (and white, but only for tanks) (like the pipes on the LV-T series) paint. The LV-N currently has orange paint, which is the signature of Rockomax. Rockomax Conglomerate uses orange, grey, and black. Not much must be changed, but perhaps an option to have the tops/bottoms of the Rockomax tanks painted orange (they are not actually flat tops, they have a rounded tankbuttlike shape.) The yellow pipe on the Poodle should be orange, and maybe a few other accents on the Poodle could be recolored. Kerbodyne is sleek and white/black. I figure the tankbutts ought to be a silver or grey similarly to the stock tankbutts of the Rockomax tanks. Probodobodyne is blue and dark grey, but I don't think there's any parts that disobey this color scheme. Steadler is yellow and white with some small bits of dark grey. Not much disobeys this color scheme either. This is no big deal, except on the LV-N. If anything, I wish the LV-N would be given the yellow paint instead of orange paint.
  22. Make the small reaction wheel show up earlier in the tech tree than the larger wheel-in-a-can.
  23. I did find these fashionable Kerbal space suits. They've got the Terran Empire insignia instead of the United Kerbin Space Probe Agency insignia, but they still look pretty cool. I might release them.
  24. You've done it! I'm back! I'm already getting the papers signed to have the palace dismantled and the railmines rebuilt back into the Hype Train railway.
