What the hell happened to the keyboard commands.
Whirligig Girl replied to Fengist's topic in KSP1 Discussion
The docking mode in stagin mode doesn't seem to do anything for me, I think its a bug. It happens to me whenever I stage rapidly, I get the onscreen text "LinRot set to Somethingorother" I don't remember exactly what it was. It didn't seem to change anything. Didn't understand the OP properly (I need to read!) -
It's a good idea, but I don't think i will use it. The different colors of grey on wing parts are meant to denote different purposes on planes. After all, you wouldn't put an ablative shield on a jet airliner, would you? Still though, there's no real reason not to do it I guess, but I don't think it should be fixed (Aside from the inconsistencies in fuselages of course)

It would be really great if we could have a set of proper radiator panels that would rotate away from the sun, and act as more efficient radiators. They could look much cooler (metaphorically, I mean), because they could glow a dim red when radiating heat. Solar panels being radiators doesn't make much sense, because solar panels point towards the light, but radiators are generally pointed AWAY from the sun so that they aren't heated by it. It would just be a bit more complete now that we have a proper heat system. Once we have this, we might be able to use such things as nuclear reactors.

Launch Pad is Black
Whirligig Girl replied to Morzaniant's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Everything? Like, the screen and the NavBall and the altimeter looks odd? That's the Hell Kraken. Restarting the game might help, and if not, reinstalling would probably do it. I had this happen a while ago. -
The one major problem I had with the tech tree: You start with the SMALL tanks. You start out with the more complicated engineering solution and unlock less complicated ones over time. The small tanks don't look good on tall rockets, and they're wobbly, and really, we should start with the biggest tanks of a tier first. It would be quite a bit more limiting on fine-tuning the fuel, and that's a good thing. And yes, I realize part of that is done so that you are forced to get close to the VAB part-attachment limit, but honestly I feel that it just feels really artificial at that point. And while I love the female Kerbals, I noticed something while casually watching a group of Kerbals in the Spaceplane hangar. There are no female Kerbals there. The entirety of the KSC staff are men. That's not right. We don't have engineer women or scientist women or even ground crew women. They're all males. We don't even have a woman as part of the administration team or any KSC building! This is a pretty major oversight in my view!

Wheres the Barn and Building Upgrade Changes?
Whirligig Girl replied to Cdr_Zeta's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I wouldn't say "most" of the community. Some of it. A decent portion. People hate the barn because they only got to see the horrible and ugly WIP version of it. They were working on getting the barn space center to work and look good, but they decided they wouldn't be able to get it ready in time for 1.0. Last I heard it would be coming in 1.1. -
Well, now that all of the engines have been nerfed to such an extreme effect, I think it is fair to say at this point that rocket fuel is Kerosene and Liquid Oxidizer. And of course, I guess, it would just decide to be hydrogen in a Nerv. Point is, the chemical rockets have specific impulses comparable to Kerolox.

Ore needs to be made heavier and more expensive than fuel. Specifically, I want to be able to bring ore back from space and sell it for a good price. And I think ISRU modules should be more efficient to use on stations and surface bases, rather than landers. - - - Updated - - - I completely agree. KSP's fuel system needs to be better standardized.

1.0 Makes KSP Unplayable (resolved)
Whirligig Girl replied to Clockwork13's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
You can turn off shaky cam in the settings, and the rocket flipping is realistic and authentic. You have to turn into the prograde, starting your gravity turn much earlier than before, if you don't have winglets and you go too far off prograde, you will flip This is intentional. -
Am I the only "Glass half full" guy around here?

So far I'm loving it and have had few problems so far. -
It seems that for some reason, you can't just download the demo, you have to send an E-mail first. This might turn people off from trying the game, they might think it could be some scam perhaps, or maybe they just don't want to to through the trouble of sending the email first. What is the reasoning behind this? I'm trying to see if I can put the demo on this computer to demonstrate to some friends, and i ran into this minor thing that might become a problem in the future. It just complicates things. On the bright side, the Email is sent out really quickly, within a second. So that's neat.

I found it seeing if i could install the demo on this computer, and i was surpised and amazed by the new website! And we're getting a plushy Jebediah soon? Awesome! What's that image of an engine at the news blog post links? Maybe an ore powered engine or something? Looks like a de-leval nozzle. Unfortunately, you can't just download the demo, you have to send an e-mail first, which complicates things somewhat. I especially like that the site now includes a little blurb about Kerbal's history. They should have a picture of the Kerbo-Log and a brief description of it, as well.

So now 1.0 has been released, so here's some thoughts on where we could go from here. I was a little disappointed in the scanning mechanic. The time problem of scanning shouldn't be what was held back, as it takes time to mine ore and convert it into fuel. The big scanner should, instead of instantly providing a full scan of the planet in a polar orbit, would be a scanner to provide low detail information during a flyby of a planet. This would be great for Voyager type probes. The tiny scanner should be the high quality scanner that works in a low polar orbit. I'm still wishing you couldn't even properly see planets in the tracking station in high quality unless you have flown by it, and then it's still fuzzy. You should have to use the scanner to get height data for the map view. A camera part would allow the ability to produce high quality maps in the map view of the planets (and perhaps a 2D cylinder map as well). I really want all map view data to have to be gathered by science stuff. Atmosphere analysis gives the atmospheric composition, barometer gives the scale height and surface pressure, thermometer gives the temperature of the planet, gravimeter gives the mass and gravitational parameter. We might also be able to get the mass if we could observe the orbit of the planet's moons? Seismic Accelerometer would give surface gravity. Maybe even the planet descriptions could be updated with information. Also, give Moho back its superheated atmosphere, especially since we have the new heat system! But of course, don't tell the player it has the superheated atmosphere, make players use thermometers first, and then have the probe explode! The Sun needs some love too. Give it a superheated atmosphere too perhaps, so that parts burn up based on heat tolerance. If you can get a science package down there, you'd get a lot of science! Jool. It has cloud bands. Different science biomes could be made here, so that flying through the different cloud bands would provide different science. If wind is ever made a thing, the cloud bands could have varying windspeeds, maybe even rather extreme speeds. Vall should have some kind of cryovolcanic geysers, which could cool down parts of a craft (just for completeness, wouldn't do much in practice), push the craft around, and provide a considerable amount of science if you fly through it. Laythe, meanwhile, could have volcanoes. They would heat up a craft by passing through the plumes, push you around, and provide lots of science from flight through it. The plume could travel a few kilometers downwind. The actual volcano would be extremely hot, but if you could get a surface sample without burning up, you'd get good science. While we're at it, maybe Kerbin could have one or two volcanoes, while Laythe may be covered in them. Eeloo. After New horizons flyby, more consideration might be put into making Eeloo a better Pluto analog. For one, even if it is supposed to be in a resonant orbit with Jool, it should be put much further out anyway because it would greatly add the challenge of getting there, up to real life levels. It should definitely be given one really big moon (in the lore, it would be defined as a binary system), in a low orbit. There are other really cool dwarf planets in our solar system, so maybe Eeloo could take traits from all of them. Maybe Eeloo should rotate really fast like Haumea, giving it an oblate shape? Maybe you could do that to Eeloo's big brother. GP2. A second gas giant could be a cool thing to add, but to be honest, until we have much more interesting stuff on our current planets and moons, we don't really need another gas giant with moons. If you ever decide to add new planets, I could not more recommend hiring the guys behind Outer Planets Mod. Seriously, those guys have done a brilliant job. If you ever make more planets, they're the guys to go to. I think it's not too bad to suggest more planets now that KSP's memory footprint has been made so low, and Unity 5 is coming soon. So, heartfelt congratulations to the entire Squad team on the release of 1.0. Let's hope this isn't the end, but rather just the beginning. I'm sure this game will only get better and better with time.

Newbish Scanning
Whirligig Girl replied to nholzric's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I was a little disappointed in the scanning mechanic. The time problem of scanning shouldn't be what was held back, as it takes time to mine ore and convert it into fuel. I like the idea of the big scanner being a flyby scanner, and the smaller one being used in a polar orbit to scan the planet in its entirety (Or an equatorial orbit to scan the planet on the equatorial ring) I'm sure modders will be able to implement it. Heck, maybe they will even fix it for 1.1. It's cheesy, but a well placed "Kerb", "Kerm", or "Kerbo" can make it better than "K" Kerbodyne>Krocketdyne

I am sorry I missed the release. I couldn't have helped it. I'm just so glad someone pulled the brake lever. You should get a Hype Medal! I can't play it yet, but it will be the first thing I do when i get home!

Well, I'm putting it on meccanopilot for now. If it releases before I get back, someone put on the brakes!
