  1. My official explanation/theory-because-I-don't-remember: There's a slightly darker single row of pixels at the pole of Moho on the heightmap (aka, the top/bottommost rows of pixels on it), which causes a sudden drop in altitude at that point. You could make a Mo-Hoop around the pole instead by moving said darkened row down a ways. It wasn't an intentional feature. Still, happy accidents and all that.
  2. For anyone out of the loop (like me) this comment on reddit provides a pretty good summary https://www.reddit.com/r/KerbalSpaceProgram/comments/331b2p/new_clues_d_eight_in_this_image_apparently/cqgkznq
  3. Oops, read it wrong, thought it meant current age. I started playing in 2011 just after my... 17th? I don't even remember. Also, ron1n1, don't feel bad, I'm only 20 right now and my knees are already horribly crunchy and crackly for some reason.
  4. Oh, I have a few candidates. https://www.dropbox.com/s/wngfkkhbtjm4hp2/SIDR_Parts_1.3.zip?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/l0qa795jau4vy8f/landerparts_1.1.zip?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/b8t4ty4vlud7a9k/Space%20Shuttle%20Vanguard%20-%200.1.zip?dl=0 I believe SIDR was the first part pack after sunday punch's wobbly rockets? (both would later be scooped up by tiberion to form novapunch)
  5. Yeah, that much is still true. Externally it's referred to as the Mulligan-Edwards Agriculture Chemical Experimentation Facility (with lots of big scary biohazard and chemical spill warning signs), the only facility of the shell company known as Mulligan-Edwards Agriculture. So yeah, I guess you're still mostly right.
  6. Unfortunately, while Quality Stuff, your fanfiction alas takes place in an abandoned timeline. The MEA is no longer a government organization but an underground (metaphorically, it's still stuck in a warehouse in Utah) "guerrilla research" organization, as the military potential of the portal technology rules out it becoming known to any government. Protagonist's name is still up for debate, name and face may be customizable.
  7. I was too hasty in blurting out "YES" that I accidentally voted no. For once I wasn't just trying to goof around with a poll!
  8. I turn my back for 5 minutes and you people go and make dwarf fortress style emotions and relationships in KSP. Good show.
  9. On the subject of SRBs, the shuttle SRBs used asbestos for the lining. I'm not sure if any of that got into the exhaust plume, but yeah... Thankfully, for the SRBs on SLS, they've redesigned it not to use asbestos.
  10. ♫ Purple haze, up in my brain... ♫
  11. It's literally just water vapor, from the combination of hydrogen and oxygen. Where would the carbon for carbon dioxide even come from? I mean, the only pollutant I can think of would be chunks coming off of an ablative nozzle such as the one possessed by the RS-68, which would I believe be just chunks of graphite (I am unsure of the actual material) and not really any environmental concern. You don't really get fuel and oxidizer with "impurities" beyond the parts per million level at worst. Substantial impurities in fuel or oxidizer quickly make your rocket stop being a rocket.
  12. Given there have been 3 games that look basically exactly the same gameplaywise in the span of, what, a year, hasn't that already happened? *runs*
  13. Seems like they were awfully quick in deciding it should go on Mauna Kea. Apparently they glazed over a few of the normal procedures for site selection and sort of butted out the opinion of the natives.
  14. He sounds like a ..... Hmm, the censor system won't let me speak my true thoughts. In more gentle terms, good riddance. He doesn't sound like somebody you'd want to be friends with anyway.
  15. In the SiliskoCanonâ„¢, Eve's oceans are filled with Angry Radioactive Death Quicksand. The original idea was that the oceans were mercury, but that was stupid and impossible. Later I had the idea that they would be a deep layer of hot mud, rich in radioactive material. Then there was an offhand comment/joke made that they were made of rocket fuel, which seems to have been taken and ran with by the community. I regret making it purple, though. Or at least, as purple as it is. Same for Jool and its green-ness.
  16. Yes. The structure of stars has changed a bit. And an explanation for its heat has been developed.
  17. Since you mention it, gravity that falls off linearly with the distance is fun. Orbital velocity is the same at any altitude. Orbits take a sort of trefoil form and slowly precess.
  18. The galaxies will exist in 3d space, so yes, the view of the starry sky will change as a result of you physically covering that distance. Each galaxy is unique as well, of course.
  19. Here comes the sun... (Forgot to post this yesterday) Need to reconfigure the demo skybox sooner or later to reflect current models of galactic structure.
  20. Common volcanic basalt, with unusually high concentrations of love.
  21. Meanwhile, in an alternate universe...
  22. Usually the posts seem to come in around 18:10 EST. It's presently 14:39.
  23. Came off harsher than I intended. Just am saying that it's too early on right now to be able to really give feedback.
  24. Sorry, but there's really a minimum level of development required before you start talking about "pre-alpha" and "releases", or even talking much about "making a game" in general. I'm also getting a vibe that that plane model is just from the unity asset store, and possibly the control system along with it...
