  1. Airships seem to be even worse idea than rovers in KSP (though I look forward to 1.1 and the wheel module revamp). I see literally zero uses for it. I'd rather have an electric propeller part instead of gas-filled balloons. Ok, maybe low-density atmosphere testing like NASA did with their Mars Saucer, but otherwise you don't want to spend hours flying just to explore some other place and go back.
  2. I think I encountered the same bug in pre-1.0 with NEAR installed. In my case the CoM suddenly shifted right for no reason. Not sure about FAR, but since they are both from ferram I would assume it's a mod-based bug.
  3. Nice. Keeping the part count low while still having the full functionality and looks is always my main goal when designing my crafts. Good to see someone else thinks the same way.
  4. Sooooooo... You are saying my craft has almost no chance to be featured because you can't fly SSTOs?
  5. Let me put this here and hope for it to be featured next time: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/131272-The-Roadrunner-SSTO
  6. Should work with turbojets, though as I said: The instructions might be a bit off, because I don't keep the track of what I do while in-flight. Just watching the numbers and reacting to them seems to be enough. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- A new version is here! For those who haven't unlocked nodes beyond 550 science points! ROADRUNNER X Changelog: -Added and relocated some RCS ports. -Got rid of one tail antenna (it was mirrored, now is asymmetrical). -Replaced the shock cone intakes with standard ones. -Replaced Elevon 5 with Elevon 2 (roll control). -Added second RCS tank in the cargo bay. Now it has more Monopropellant. It's a design adapted from MKVI to fit my needs for mid-tech, low-budget career SSTO. Roadrunner MKVI should be treated as a prototyope of Roadrunner X (although the performance of both variants should be the same). The cost of a single orbital mission is only ~2,000 credits! Take 4 tourists! Let them feel weightless! Go back! Be rich! The X version is available here: http://kerbalx.com/Wilcz/Roadrunner-X-KER-less WARNING! Check action groups before flying this one! WARNING!
  7. Don't forget to let me know what you think about the performance!
  8. Nice. Now I feel kinda bad for discouraging you. Good to see you figured it out.
  9. Should I upload this to something else, like KerbalSutff? I think I saw people saying mediafire is bad, or something.
  10. After the struggle of trying to make The Superbird space-worthy (or rather any useful), I decided to abandon the design and start from the scratch. I present to you: ROADRUNNER MKVI This thing right here has none of those fancy RAPIERS. It's main power comes from Turbo Ramjets and Swivels only! Here's the full album: And Sketchfab! ===========---------INSTRUCTIONS---------=========== Yeah, about those... To be honest, I didn't fly it in any special way, but I'll try to recall the most important parts of the flight: 1. Climb on jets to about 20km 2. Level your flight 3. Accelerate up to something about 1100 m/s, then pitch up 4. Watch the TWR and don't let it go down below 1.5 (You need KER for that) 5. When it reaches 1.7-1.5 TWR hit ACTION GROUP 1 (toggle Swivels) 6. When the jets run out of air hit ACTION GROUP 2 (toggle jets + intakes) 7. Rise the nose 20-30 degrees up and watch the Apoapsis grow. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's mainly used as a crew ferry to LKO, but I'm thinking about sending one of those to my future Laythe polar colony. I'm going to keep tweaking and improving it, so you can expect updates if there's enough interest in this project. And here's the DL link: http://www./download/shy1ii91jy2ub09/Roadrunner_MKVI.craft On KerbalX: http://kerbalx.com/Wilcz/Roadrunner-MKVI Have a nice flight!
  11. It works as a normal tail piece, though tends to be a bit slippery, because of it's low profile. And funnily enough, it doesn't use Nervas and "Swivel" engines instead. EDIT: BTW, here's the link to the thread for anyone who's interested in checking out the Roadrunner: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/131272-The-Roadrunner-SSTO
  12. Have you ever landed on Moho? I haven't. It's already hard enough to encounter and land on. I don't think we need any more heat there, and it would be kind of unrealistic. A thick atmosphere this close to the Sun isn't very intuitive, imo.
  13. That's why I installed KIS and KAS recently. It's great nad should be fully implemented in stock. Trying to avoid the Claw as much as possible.
  14. Thanks. It just happened, I guess. Took me 2 days to make it space-worthy.
  15. X-15 is one of those designs that wouldn't work very well as a scaled up version. It was small and had 1 crew only. Here's an SSTO I made a few minutes ago. The only use I have for it is crew transport to LKO and back. As others said: SSTOs aren't made for big payloads. Unless it's Rune's MK3 monstrosity.
  16. My newest favourite toy! It's both pretty and functional!
  17. My new SSTO! Wooooo! It looks nice and works as a crew ferry!
  18. Yeah, it's ok. I kinda overestimated the LV-N. Sorry for that. Instead I figured a Ramjet+Swivel combo that makes for a nice SSTO.
  19. So I've heard someone liked my previous craft. Here's another one that is actually a functional SSTO:
  20. Ow... That RATO, tho. To me it's overbuilt. A long, noodle-like spaceplane will always be hard to land. It seems the wings are way too small for it's size, too. Try building something that looks (more or less) like something that would work IRL. EDIT: Basically what Taki117 said.
  21. Would be nice to see how the spaceplane looks.
