  1. I think this game, with its technical knowledge and meticulous detail, is very attractive to a certain kind of aspie/ASD. I was certainly obsessive about it for just over a year. Sadly, while i still love it, i've played it too much: gotten too good, and now I get bored or frustrated at simple things like long burns.
  2. I.. don't know how to use Github. Am i supposed to run the .bat files or something?
  3. Diagnosed aspie here also. Learnt how to hide it, was able to get through school etc. Married, job for Federal Govt. Haven't let it slow me down
  4. Those first couple of km are the killer. If you're happy using mods, check out the Airship mod it will help a lot with Eve.
  5. It doesn't matter either way: launching east (90) saves you ~ 300dV
  6. Have you submitted it to the K-Prize? It's the semi-official thread recognising all SSTO's. You might be in with a chance for the lightest! Also: How did you do that sweet .gif?
  7. i believe the Mechjeb acceleration refers to engine vs mass, not a direct g-measurement.
  8. Because no-one really cares whats on Venus's surface? It's been lacquered with lava & acid & heat for so long that it's dead. Mars might have life, somewhere, and we will probably build a base there at some point. But Venus? No-ones going to go there for a long time.
  9. Thats... a lot of assumptions in the last line.
  10. Not mine, but one of the more Kerbal pictures i've seen:
  11. I WANT A JEB PLUSHY! and 3d printed rockets would be cool too.
  12. I never understood the 'gone to plaid' reference, i'm assuming its a pun or something, but it always fell flat for me. Anyone know what that was about?
  13. They seem to be immune to radiation: they mention it several times, so they're aware it exists, but there is no mention in any Kerbal stuff of anyone having any negative effects from exposure ('glowing' is the most negative one, and they seem to regard it as a positive outcome)
  14. Liquids are measured in volume: 1 millilitre is the fluid that fits in 1 cm3
  15. This is something that has come up a lot, i believe its in the "don't ask this" thread.
  16. I kinda like it: How far can you travel with just one mainsail?
  17. The birds! THE. BIRDS. FINALLY SOMEONE HELPS. +1
  18. its fully possible, it takes some practice. Try pressing 'R' to activate their jetpacks.
  19. Looks really good, you just might want to clean up the white around the satellite a bit, looks a bit copypasta.
  20. I've made a few videos explaining my mods, as well as a few "from scratch" videos, where I record a whole (short) mission, from initial build to landing, and speed it up 5x. Not sure if it's just ego stroking or helping anyone, but it's a nice symbol.
  21. U8yg8tl22n9wqx44 I literally have no idea what this was..
  22. Many science fiction ideas revolve around it. Part of the problem is that we live in an area of extremely low hydrogen density, so it would not work terribly well around here. What was the mechanism suggested to harvest the particles in your source?
  23. correction: nuclear engines work best in space, but their thrust/weight is poor, and their 1 atmo Isp is atrocious. Once you pass ~1800 in height, they pass 390 Isp and become the most efficient engines available. YMMV. Also: welcome aboard. Duna is probably the easiest to get to after Kerbin, but be warned: its thin atmosphere will mean parachutes dont work well enough to stop you reliably, you will probably need some powered landing.
  24. I tend to add mods that do something stock doesn't. For example, the Hooligan airships. I also have some that make life easier, such as Alarm Clock and Mechjeb. I used to use Protractor a lot, but between the top two it's kinda been subsumed.
  25. I had a mission once which went for over 7 years by itself, and then landed the Kerbin return lander upside down -facepalm-
