I have a lot of mods on my game and ran into problems, so for now I went back to MapSat version 3.3.4 . It's an option if you don't want to remove other mods.

You know someone was going to post it eventually.....

[WIP] [PLUGIN] [PART][0.20] Amphibious Hovercraft Parts! V0.2
Tommygun replied to zitronen's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I found coming in for a beach landing to be a little tricky. If you hit the beach too fast the craft breaks apart and breaking is difficult. I would strongly suggest that the thrust fans have the ability to quickly reverse thrust for braking as real hovercraft do. Maybe even set it up so when you hit the "B" key the fans automatically reverse thrust. -
Ceres would be my choice. The gravity slingshots would be too disruptive to the Earth as you get too close to the Sun. At least as I am imagining it. I'm thinking of a scenario that someone might want to buy the Earth more time as the Sun slowly turns into a red giant.

Multiplayer is made by throwing code together it seems :p
Tommygun replied to Sigma117's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Yes, I can see it getting very inconvenient for launch windows. I wish there was a way to let each person have their own map view and planet positions be unique to that player. The map view would still tell you what players are at what planets, but the planets are in different positions for each player. Then when you get into orbit, it then becomes a true shared map with limited warp and no warping on the surface. Not perfect, but useable I think? -

I don't really follow this too much, but are they talking about this one? http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/35310-The-L-O-G-Multiplayer-Project?highlight=Multiplayer+Plugin -
These methods are too violent and polluting. Something like a variation of the gravity tractor might work. If you used something like say a nuclear Orion engine to push a large asteroid to pass close by Earth and give the asteroid an orbit that would repeatably pass by Earth, then over millions of years you could slowly change Earth's orbit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravity_tractor

[WIP] [PLUGIN] [PART][0.20] Amphibious Hovercraft Parts! V0.2
Tommygun replied to zitronen's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I was able to get up to 119m/s over water with four jet engines. It works a lot like Hooligan Lab's balloon mod, just at very very low altitude, maybe less than half a meter. -
[WIP] [PLUGIN] [PART][0.20] Amphibious Hovercraft Parts! V0.2
Tommygun replied to zitronen's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
That's actually good to hear, I was hoping for realism. As I understand it, is almost impossible for a hovercraft to go sideways across the face of a hill unless it's pointing nose to the top of the hill and thrusting like crazy. -
Interesting video, I always imagined the jet vanes moving much more and faster in my head.

Now I can build my hover tank army! How well do they go up hills? -
Would Laythe be capable of sustaining Kerbal (or human) life?
Tommygun replied to Burke112's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I can sympathize with this, my first reaction to changing Laythe is no, but it would be better in the long run to try and keep the planets and moons reasonably real. It might be better to add a new planet, a little closer or further out from the sun than Kerbin, to make into a living world. -
[0.22.X] BobCat ind. Historical spacecraft thread
Tommygun replied to BobCat's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I have had this issue when I build something too large. There may be multiple causes, but I think at least one of them is the game's physics engine. If you have too many parts or the total weight gets too high the game can get buggy and start exploding vehicles. -
Krupp Kerman: Founder of Ballistic Launch Services. Krupp was a firm believer that with enough cordite he could put anything into space. Although the company he founded never guaranteed it would get there in one piece. Mun Kannon: Krupp did make an attempt to launch numerous payloads to the Mun with one of his larger cannons. His attempts where describe by observers of that era as "ambitious", "very loud" and "W@%&*# was that!" Not only did it not reach the Mun, it was also unable to reach orbit, leading some to point out it was better at reducing the number of Kerbin's cities even further. As a result Krupp was forced to take the Mun Kannon out of service by numerous former home owners. Many years later it was very briefly taken out of storage as the Improved Atomic Mun Kannon. The exact details of how it preformed are sketchy as very little documentation seems to have survived. Kaputnik the spider monkey: Krupp also attempted to send the first creature to voluntarily intentionally go into space. This brief experiment may have been partially successful, but it has never been confirmed. Kaputnik was buried where she was found and a small monument built in her honor at all twelve locations.

Yes and I have also tried big bushy eyebrows on Kerbals and they can be pretty funny, but that might be best used for special characters.
-
Sure if you want it, go right ahead.

[0.22.X] BobCat ind. Historical spacecraft thread
Tommygun replied to BobCat's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I hope that is not Bobcat's other outdoor hobby. -
There is one issue to consider and I'm not familiar with the fuel the Proton uses, but some rocket fuel is very toxic and acidic. In some situations it may be better to explode the rocket high up and let the fuel burn higher up to minimize exposure to people. At least with explosives you have a choice to use them or not depending on the situation.
-
Eye lids would be very useful for expressions, but normally I would suggest keeping them very small at the top and bottom of the eyes. Then use them when needed to express certain emotions. Maybe experiment with small eyebrows too?
-
It happen so low I don't think it would have mattered.
-
You Sir are a genius! An evil warped genius, but still.........
-
I think people may be just use to seeing them with 2D hair. With the high end resolution work you are doing it seems more appropriate to have more detailed 3D looking hair.
-
Yes, maybe you could have just two larger magazines. The first one with small, medium and large nukes in it. The second one with extra large, enormous and humongous. They could also carry more of each type of nuke. Each magazine would still weight more, but you reduce the part numbers in the VAB and on the rocket.
-
That looks perfect, it's a Pixar/Muppet type of head.
-
I think it would be manageable as long as the nuclear isotopes don't burn. It's still not good, but it would also depend on what type of isotopes they used for it. Some of those old strontium RTG where bad even in one piece.
