[1.2.x] Aviator Arsenal - World War 2 aircraft weaponry (v1.3)
tetryds replied to tetryds's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Unfortunately, allowing you to simply stick weapons to the turret would be extremely complicated and would require writing a plugin code. Remember that even making it so that you can put ammo on your turrets is complicated, it's the way KSP works. But I will think about turrets, maybe adding a few more on the future. The .50cal ball turret is already very powerful, by the way. -
WW2 BAD-T 2 - BDA AI Dogfight Tournament [SEMIFINALS]
tetryds replied to tetryds's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
No, you still have plenty of time to work on it as there were no news on KSP 1.1. -

Nope, unfortunately A.I.R.B.R.A.K.E.s are not allowed. You can use spoilers, if you don't abuse it, but that specific part is overpowered, even on FAR it still utilizes stock code for the braking forces. Remember that this is a WW2 tournament, so even if you use spoilers don't abuse. -

WW2 BAD-T 2 - BDA AI Dogfight Tournament [SEMIFINALS]
tetryds replied to tetryds's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
@Veeltch last tournament had 16 entries, this one is expected to have either 24 or 36. In case of 24, the three top planes would fight against each other, whichever defeats the other two wins. Edit: I am not going to limit it at all, by the way, if we have many more let it be. -
WW2 BAD-T 2 - BDA AI Dogfight Tournament [SEMIFINALS]
tetryds replied to tetryds's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
You can have as many weapons as you want, as long as you dont have more than six of the same, firing at the same time. And stay on budget, of course. So you can have 6 bredas long barrel and a few more short barrel, since they don't fire together. That is also a reason why different versions of the same weapon exist. About turrets: No turrets. They are OP against the AI and there is no way to truly balance them. A turret would probably cost way more than that. Some changes to the AI may make it possible so a huge MAYBE for the next BAD-T -

Anyone Else Recently Build A Bad@** PC in Reponse to upcoming 1.1?
tetryds replied to scribbleheli's topic in The Lounge
Oh yes, I forgot that about intel processors, but it should be easier if you set most frequencies manually. Yes voltage dictates the current, but the mobo limits it. As temperature and clock increases, the internal resistance of the processor drops, this causes the voltage on it to drop, so you need to compensate by increasing voltage (that is not the only reason though). But several enthusiast mobos have the option where you can allow more current to pass on the processor, the current limiting can make the voltage drop and the system becomes unstable. Most guides make sure that you are allowing as much as your mobo can allow before even starting, but I don't really recommend leaving it at that because while overclocking becomes more stable if you push it too hard you generate a lot more heat. How it affects KSP varies, on my case I got a huge increase in fps on every game because my CPU at stock frequencies is a bottleneck, so I got a lot of lagspikes and stuff. It was all gone after I went past 4.2GHz. And I got around 10~15% performance increase on KSP alone, which is a lot for a 22% clock increase. -

Anyone Else Recently Build A Bad@** PC in Reponse to upcoming 1.1?
tetryds replied to scribbleheli's topic in The Lounge
@eddiew well, that is the "easy way" of overclocking, I wouldn't use that method alone for anything higher than a 20% clock increase, after that point you should consider increasing the base clock and allow more current to the CPU, voltage alone won't do miracles. You may also want to input your other frequencies manually, including the ram timings. 5GHz would be just for limited periods of time, but it's not unlikely, would only take a while. -

I'm going to upgrade my pc for KSP, video editing, live streaming and game development. Going from an FX-8150 @4.4GHz to an i7 4790k, which shouldn't really stay behind the i7 6700k in gaming performance. My goal is to achieve 5GHz for benchmarking, and stable 4.6GHz for gaming (yes, KSP specifically). My current setup is: CPU: FX-8150 @4.4GHz GPU: MSI GTX 970 gaming 4g RAM: 16gb DDR3 1866MHz MOBO: M5A99X Evo R2.0 PSU: 850W 80+ bronze (forgot which but its good) Cooling: Corsair H100 water cooler 1TB HDD, another 500GB one and a 250GB SSD -
[1.1] BDArmory v0.11.0.1 (+compatibility, fixes) - Apr 23
tetryds replied to BahamutoD's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
@damowang2 yes because it was made before the competition mode existed, and the released version is missing a required module. Check for any missing modules that the weapons manager and ai module have that it does not and add it manually to fix the issue. I will patch that together with the bombs. -

tetryds replied to BahamutoD's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
That was due to a bug, when the rpm was higher than the framerate it would be forced to fire at a lower firerate. ferram4 has fixed it, his version works flawlessly, and weapons overheat just like they should. -

@pyrosheep You cannot submit twice, but you can update the file the download link leads to: Also, I noticed your airplane has both an antenna and AI module, that is illegal, please remove the AI module as the antenna already has everything you need. -

[1.3.1] Ferram Aerospace Research: v0.15.9.1 "Liepmann" 4/2/18
tetryds replied to ferram4's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
@kcs123 Well, that is not really the case, the L/D curve does not affect the pitch moment balance, the inclination of the Cm curve does. Your max pitch input shouldn't necessarily be earlier than the stall point if you are using a joystick, several maneuvers require controlled stall, and achieving that is way more complicated than tweaking some control surfaces. Also, having your Cm zero earlier than the stall point alone does not really mean you are stall-free at all, remember that this is a static analysis, when you are pitching up, especially with a keyboard, the craft will pick pitch momentum. This is probably what caused you to mistakenly assume that it has anything to do with the optimal L/D points, you empirically realized that if you go further than that the aircraft has a higher chance of stalling and thought that it was the case for every craft. But what actually happened was that you did not have enough damping to hold back your momentum, the craft AoA went too high and you stalled. @Kitspace First of all, start by normal propeller airplanes, and make sure your control surfaces do what they were meant to do, and that the airplane is stable (Cm curve going down at the very least) Then, simply launch it, take off, and pitch up. Your aircraft is going to perform that Stall-return-stall wobble, stop pitching, right click the elevators, decrease their deflection by 2 degrees and try again. Do that until the airplane stops wobbling, then increase it slightly until the point where it pitches as much as it can before that happening. Then test this at different speeds to make sure you are stable at most of them, or at least at the speeds you are willing to fly at. Note down that deflection value, go on the SPH and set it, save craft, profit Now how to design a more agile airplane is a whole different story.- 14,073 replies

@KamikazeF0X Is it a stealth plane? Because I cannot see it Paste the image url and hit enter twice and the image should automatically show on your editor, if you had trouble with that. @TangerineSedge 2x 30mm, that is a nice choice, does it crunch the dummy on a single pass? -

WW2 BAD-T 2 - BDA AI Dogfight Tournament [SEMIFINALS]
tetryds replied to tetryds's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
@gridghost I suggest you to wait. Simply don't submit just yet, try to improve the design as much as you can, otherwise you will upgrade it and then realize you entered an old version of the airplane. Another "trick" would be to simply update the kerbalx or dropbox file, as I am only going to download all of the airplane when the submissions close. Edit: added this tip to the second post. -
WW2 BAD-T 2 - BDA AI Dogfight Tournament [SEMIFINALS]

@gridghost I am checking into that, I have noticed these exceptions but they don't always happen, I am looking into it. Could only reproduce it one time though, and it doesn't throw the nullrefs during the battle. Yes, I have noticed that picking weapons requires a lot of testing, each setup works better with a plane against a certain other plane. I also found out that you can make really tough airplanes if you go for heavy fighters, a lot trickier to get resistant light fighters, you really to go wild on weight saving. I love to see that people are using several different weapon setups, and this has become clearly a strategy point rather than seeking for a "best of all" (because really, I spent months making sure there isn't such a thing). And I see that there is a tendency towards heavy fighters, but several people are making both to try them out. Which type of airplane you are planning on entering, and why? -
Just to make things clear, this was an isolated case, the forums were not hacked, it was just the account of one of the moderators and it got grounded before any damage could have been done. Even if something worse happened, the forum has backups and IPS4 provides us ways to track and undo most (if not all) of the actions taken by a normal moderator without the need to access the backed up data.

WW2 BAD-T 2 - BDA AI Dogfight Tournament [SEMIFINALS]

Hey everybody, I just realized that the weight of the "Brutus" engine was wrong. The correct weight for that engine is 0.84 tons, or 840kg. The previous setting of 1 ton was mostly a balancing accident. I don't think anyone was using it, because the weight mistake made it useless, but if anyone did, please update the pack and rebalance your airplane. This kind of thing will not happen again, this was the only engine with a balancing mistake. I also fixed two typos, the Brutus engine is B27-D not B24-D, and the Widshed description said 32kn while it actually has 20kn static thrust. Sorry for the inconvenience.
