So I've downloaded a number of small mods and the only one not working is one that is mean to add ion engine sounds. I checked in the part files and I'm fairly confident of the new ionEngine.cfg and the actual sound files themselves, but I don't know where to actually put them. The mod made a "part" file inside the ion engine file and put them there, but that clearly isn't working (in .25 at least) nor is it what other engines apparently do. So where do I put them?

Doesn't that have a mouth though?

[AAR] The Grand Tour - Voyage To The Planets
PwnedDuck replied to czokletmuss's topic in KSP Fan Works
The ck2 thing ended though (and on an awesome note too). I know it's going on to EU4 but has that already started? -
Anyone else not really care for the career stuff?
PwnedDuck replied to sedativechunk's topic in KSP1 Discussion
It just isn't a development direction I'm a fan of. I'd far rather they made more stuff to do e.g. new parts and planets than making it possible to play in a way where you need to do less. -
The next announced mod to get into stock ksp
PwnedDuck replied to smart013's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Squad should be ashamed of themselves if they call this 'finished'. Nothing but bland science to do on planets, half the solar system it seemed like we would get, no resources, no weather, no life support, no worthwhile aerodynamics, no reeentry damage, no colonisation, basic details like rcs sounds missing and no sandbox purpose for bases, rovers, or stations beyond decoration. Almost all of this career mode stuff just takes the limited game we have now and forcefully limits us even more. It's not till we get new, sandbox, features that the game actually grows. -
What would you want in the next update (0.90)?
PwnedDuck replied to EvilotionCR2's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Ooh. Another thing. Have the other KSP be an actual, competing company. So if you go near there there are rocket launches going on sometimes, you have to rescue their kerbals sometimes, if they start to pull ahead you can get fewer contracts, you have to race them for first landings, you can buy parts off of them if they develop them first, they set up their own probes and satellites etc... -

Not in a way that creates actual buildings (a la KSP) on other planets. Sure, you can build wonky ships that kinda look like buildings, but I'm talking like a bar at the top of the screen when you first load into ksp that lets you switch over to the Laythe Biodome or Munar Waystation or whatever. That sort of thing. I know what they said, and I want them to stop working on career mode and focus on finding a way to make resources "fun" because while career mode fences in what you can and should do, resource mining vastly expands it. Not really dedicate boat hulls and whatnot, but some sort of flotation devices for Water landings or basic sea propulsion equipment could open up some interesting missions on Eve and Laythe. -

Something not career mode. So: -Aerodynamics (perhaps with some sort of difficulty spectrum from stock, to NEAR-like, to FAR-like) -Reentry Damage (difficulty-toggleable) -Resource Mining, for ISRU, construction and sale -New Planets -Colonisation/Base construction and upgrading (on Kerbin and in Space) -Water Parts -Weather/Planetary hazards (difficulty-toggleable) -Clouds and visual goodies -Camera parts -Kerbal training and development with records of their achievements, traits and stats. And genders too. -Speculative technology at the far end of the tech-tree. -Some sort of soundscape (i.e. radio beeping, creaking, muffling when in space, RCS sounds, radio transmissions, clanking, touchdown sounds) -IVA detailing (i.e. the buttons do stuff) -Animations for stuff like taking samples. -Life support (difficulty-toggleable) -Kerbal Engineer-esque data readouts. -Part failure and redundancy concerns (difficulty-toggleable) -Nuclear engines use appropriate fuel -First person perspective for kerbals outside of ships (i.e. IVA during EVA) In short, the do-not suggest list. Sorry Squad, but it gets suggested often enough to be forbidden for a reason. -
Obsession with .25, .26, updates.... Stop the madness!
PwnedDuck replied to xtoro's topic in Kerbal Network
What really baffles me is the level of hype over... drumroll please... wait for it... :the ability to get slightly more arbitrary points in one are and slightly less arbitrary points in another. Oh, and some 'new' parts that have already been out as a mod for a while. I get it, it's been a while since we got anything (of substance at any rate), but big frakking whoop. -
I haven't seriously played since .20 I think. I'm waiting for new features as opposed to new limitations.
-
Play for 20 minutes to test the new parts then wait for a substantive gameplay update.
-
Psssst. Sandbox mode.

But that would be a significantly worse experience for everyone other than SQUAD. I get they have no legal obligation to do anything and could legally just take our money and run, but I'd still be pretty angry and disappointed if a DLC model is one they use at "1.0" (which is looking more and more likely given the whole "scope complete" nonsense has interrupted so many potentially interesting updates). No, in a nutshell people are hoping out loud that SQUAD chooses a timeline that doesn't inconvenience them financially and temporally any more than it actually has to given their development capability. But as it is, so much of the game just falls flat. As I'm descending over Eve, half the fun can only come from imagining dense, impenetrable clouds, volatile weather, volcanic activity, and risks to my craft from pressure and heat. God knows I don't build my bases for the text-box "science" we can do, but right now because of the imagined I.S.R.U, colonisation, base-building, life support and such. That's why I live for the updates, because (at least in theory but I bloody hope in practice to at this rate) they each inch me closer to not having to imagine these things. Legally, yadda yadda yadda but the potential it had for these things, stock, is why I bought the game at all.

We're in space now. Mainsail, full throttle! I should try a gravity assist. We've got the delta-v for that.
-
This is another fallback I'm tired of. Every time a complaint is made about the game, somebody always jumps up and shouts "Ha! You should be grateful Squad even bothers to work for a living! You dare to think it was ever implied that the barely functional mess of a game you purchased back in .14 would ever be worked on." Yes, Squad are well within their legal rights to just snort all our money up their noses and go and live in Mauritius or something. But a lot of people would be angry and disappointed. Nobody bought the game with anything other than an expectation (or more or less absolute desire that) it would be finished, even if they did legally speaking. It's in alpha (or whatever word you want to use, it isn't finished), Squad doesn't have to develop it beyond alpha. But I'd really like them to and whenever I complain about a descision they make it's just me further explaining exactly what it is I'd (or anyone else complaining) like.

What was your closest call in terms of delta-V?
PwnedDuck replied to pauldbk99's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I mistakenly built my Laythe lander for a more kerbin-like atmosphere. The RAPIER engines switched about 10000 feet before I thought they would and when the now inefficient lander ran out of fuel completely I had to get Jeb out (at 30000 feet, this was) and EVA pack him into orbit and back to the station. Had about 2% fuel left when he got to the hatch. -
What should be worked on after .24?
PwnedDuck replied to skyace65's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I desperately hope it's something other than career mode. I am sick of updates focused on telling me what to do instead of giving me more to do. -

Hopefully the last part of this trilogy will be much better looking. All in .26 and maybe with the astronomer visuals pack or something like that... -
As an Eeloo-and-back-again-er who started playing at age 15, not necessarily.

[AAR] The Grand Tour - Voyage To The Planets
PwnedDuck replied to czokletmuss's topic in KSP Fan Works
My as yet untied plot strings in this: Where is Proteus, and what are Jeb and BERTY doing? What happened to put the Krussian station into the situation it was in when found? What happened to the Duna team, and where are they now? What happened over Bop? What does KSC really want? What happened to Sid? And, obviously, will they make it? I'd go for a paid PDF, maybe even some sort of e-book thing. It might help if the earlier chapters got edited to make it clear who was speaking and to fix up the grammars and words and such. -
[AAR] The Grand Tour - Voyage To The Planets
PwnedDuck replied to czokletmuss's topic in KSP Fan Works
If the ship burns up, nobody's ever going to read the diaries . It could be a stretch to work out exactly what happened with the station coming back at all. Or indeed a serious danger if all that hydrazine lands in a city or gets dispersed above one.
