The problem with recycling in America right now is the way most cities have implemented it. Most large cities have one garbage company that controls 80%+ of the market. That company then bribes the politicians into starting a recycling program and sell it to the people as a "green" initiative. Then they charge whatever they want to the city to pick up the recycling because they are the only ones that can fill the contract. The politicians don't care it's not their money and they are getting a cut, the "green" voters don't even pay attention to the cost. Compare this to the "old" system where you cart your recycling into a center and they pay you for the recycling.

I use Firefox with the ad block extension and I don't see any ads ever.

You have 200m of deck on touchdown. You were going 220km/h for .2 seconds of that 200m Then you catch and stop with 13.1m left. Look at it like that and you can get the distance, starting speed, final speed is 0. Just a bit off math to finish it off.

That is not used for storage just transfer. The only two places I know of that use molten salt is thermal solar and some nuclear reactors. They only use it because it allows a much hotter core transferring heat to the salt which I believe then transfers to a water boiler to run a turbine. Since your initial temperature in the salt is higher it runs more efficiently even with a secondary transfer since all heat engines run better the steeper the thermal gradient.

A Step Closer To The Alcubierre Drive!

What would make it worth the trouble of landing? It seems to me any civilization with ftl capability would live among the stars. What resource would make it worth the trouble to go all the way down a gravity well to land on a planet? -

Still can't cure the common cold. -
I don't think the NERVA was as far as a long shot as you are saying if you consider when it would have been implemented. If funding had continued the Saturn 5 would have continued to be improved with F1-A engines on the table for an additional mega-newton of launch thrust each, and booster upgrades adding up to 8 additional F1 engines as strap on. Given this enhanced lift capability and the enhanced thrust and isp a NERVA engine would give the IVB stage I think it would make up for the slightly more than 3 times dry weight compared to the chemical IVB.

One of the best landing legs I have built

I made a discovery just now. Any derbies on the planet Kerbin can be recovered, and any science in it will be recovered as well. So if you only want to bring back a material lab and leave the ship in space all you need is an attached and activated parachute and then let it lose on a return trajectory. I think you will need to switch focus to it and watch it reenter for the parachute to work and then recover and SCIENCE.

I have not played two but here are some tips from one that may carry over. If you have money laying around you need to kill more things. More people = More money. Go forth conquer and bring back slaves to enlarge your cities.

I ruthlessly slaughter Kerbals for fun, but that makes them slightly more important than humans in my eyes.

A Step Closer To The Alcubierre Drive!
drakesdoom replied to Omicron314's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Let them build their machine either it works or it doesn't. If it works it will most likely reveal a closer step to a unified field theory. If it doesn't how many people could that possibly kill? -
(NOT COLD FUSION!) The byproducts of BASIC fusion...
drakesdoom replied to JMBuilder's topic in Science & Spaceflight
A fusion piston engine now I have heard it all. -
I currently have an automatic since my current financial situation does not let me be picky. However both of these are obsolete systems, a duel transmission hooked to wheel mounted paddle shifters blows everything else out of the water.

Why didn't NASA replaced the SRB of challenger?
drakesdoom replied to goldenpeach's topic in Science & Spaceflight
For that matter why would a military grade once up and burn up satellite have any mounting points that are not blown off during the initial launch? -
Tell that to the dead from soviet Russia.

As long as you have a sealed case and the oil is not getting dirty from the outside it should never get "used" up, you won't be reaching a high enough temperature to break it down and their are no moving external parts to lose oil on. You should be using a very thin pure oil, silicon is preferable but there are plenty of cheaper options. If you want to mess with hardware you will probably just lift the board out of the oil and hang it above the tank, no need to clean it off the oil will not interfere with connections as it is non conductive. Just wipe it off with a paper towel if you need a better grip, do the work, drop it back in, and clean your hands.

Really guys? You disappoint me. THAT'S NO MOON!
