Today... well, last night, I needed to do some surveying and measuring in my 6.4x 1.3 save, so I thought I'd continue the ridiculous theme of things made almost entirely from wings. I came up with this... thing...
SpoilerI seem to be getting that weird gender-reversal bug. Or maybe it's not a bug, who am I to judge? Welcome aboard, Johngard. dat face doe...
I very quickly discovered this thing is very efficient at mashing Kerbals into an unconscious paste, so I have dubbed it, The Squishyalator!
Unfortunately for Johngard, she came to just a tad too late..
Sorry, Johngard...
Oh...
The safe from the Safecracking Challenge is still sitting there. No wonder my framerate sucks.
Now it's Tati's turn!
*squish*
dat face, doe...
Aaaand it ws about this time I discovered, even with autostruts and rigid attachment, the Squishyalator does not play well with physwarp! Does anything, really?
Hey! Wait! I wasn't done with that bit yet! Or... Tati wasn't done yet... oh crap...
Bail out, lil' green dude!
Erm... maybe you should have bailed out a little higher (he did have a parachute)... Sorry, Tati.
Then it was Gregmal's turn, and everything was going well until...
Gotta admire her attitude, tho.
She was actually ok until right about... um... here...
Dangit, that's three tonight. The wife's gonna kill me... wonder how many Kerbals I can fit under the rug...
And then there was Lusy... we don't talk about Lusy...
...I got some 'splainin' to do...
And then....
Oh yeah, this whole thing was about surveying. So, hyperedit to the right area... then spawn half a dozen craft trying to get an actual pilot in the seat...
Welcome aboard, Gilzor!
Aaaaand then I remembered I can't physwarp...
dat face doe...
Keep it together, guy! Er, metaphorically speaking, that is... You got this!
...maybe not...
...we're going to need another Gilzor! And Gregmal... and Tati... and Lusy... poor Lusy... I feel bad about that one...

Sorry. Stuff reduced to 2 clicks. And a little tag.
But how does Siri come into this?
I told her to read it...
-
Wait, how'd you guess?
Let's try @tater
-
@qzgy my Siri would like to have a word with you...

Getting back to FH, are we sure that the static fire is going on today? I got a tweet from spaceflight now I think saying it was getting pushed to Feb., or was that just the launch?
WDR today, no hot fire till at least Monday is what I’ve heard. Launch is still possibly this month according to SFN, tho internally I’m sure that’s skipped into Feb.

Hmm... I can only think of 87 rocket engines/motors on an Apollo Saturn V... so Inthink you are correct.
According to
SpaceChickVintage Space, it was 83, and she usually knows her stuff... -

They didn't build the chunnel because waiting for boats made people relaxed and happy . .
As someone who actually does take a ferry every day... yeah.
Oh, well, at least I might get to watch it tonight.

New Rockets means new systems that all need to be tested and ready for flight. If you launch too early and don't check and fix the systems you can increase the chance of failure. Stay patient!
...when people tell me to be patient:
I’ve got the yowl down pat & everything...

We just cant have anything new anymore, can we? All the experimental stuff that could bring us into the future just keeps getting pushed back... and yet Atlas can launch all it wants, what with its fancy track record and asymmetry and such.
Yup. So for the year so far that’s:
China: 4
ULA: 2
Japan: 1
India: 1
SpaceX: ...0.5...ish, Maybe?
Not a very auspicious year for NewSpace yet.

Booooooooooats!
I’m hearing this in William Shatner’s voice toward the end of a certain sequel...

Once you've seen one fly over an anti aircraft artillery range during a live fire exercise it's hard to get surprised by anything. Edit: and this was a "professional."
“Bonus points.”

Shame they can’t just mash the spacebar.

YOU STOLE THOMPBERRY DIDN'T YOU?! YOU MONSTER.
eh. he can terrorize/make snarky comments in some other story now. The more sarcasm, the better?
I tried to build him from memory, cuz it was late and I was too tired to go find a pic. So he came out a little... special.
I call him Derpfburby.

It bothers me that in this day and age the boats don't know better about staying away from launch sites.
Just imagine how he drives...

ULA must’ve hired that boat, just in case it had problems with Atlas launch
It’s a conspiracy! One big *plink* danged *plink* conspiracy! What say you, Miss fussy britches?

would agree. I would love to have a piece of an Electron.
A... a lepton?

KERM! FLARPING! DANGIT!
Ok how bout a new rule, then? There will no longer be launch holds for range violations, but if a wayward boat gets hit by rocket parts, they can keep them. How boat that?

Weather.
One might also say... whither comes the delay? Weather, whither.
Seriously these guys seemed to have picked a really lousy place to launch rockets from.
“HEY BOB!”
”YEAH, BILL?”
”WE SHOULD LAUNCH ROCKETS FROM HERE!”
”BUT ITS SO WINDY I CAN BARELY HEAR YOU!”
”WHAT?”
”I SAID, IT’S SO WINDY I CAN BARELY HEAR YOU! LOOK AT ALL THE BLOWING PAPERS!”
”GO AHEAD AND SIGN THE PAPERS? COOL, ILL GET RIGHT ON IT!”
”NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!”

OK This is just funny...
oh, and ULA’s taking the bait!
a few hours later...
And that, Kiddies, is the story of the first Atlas V launch failure ever...
-
I think they do have some pretty good sized solar panels. If the angle’s just right...

^^^^^^
What
hethey said. Also, @Delay, I realize it may be small comfort, but you’re doing the hardest part right now. Secondary/High School, I’m assuming? Once you get out into college and the real world, and can start setting some of your own rules, it gets easier. So get through this, and you can get through anything.
