Agree with much of what you have said here. One thing I'd like to comment on: This I partially agree with. I strongly feel this should be linked to progress in career mode. Once you've researched the planets say using a telescope you then get to know phase angles. Obviously this would be for future, but I think it would fit in nicely.

Stupid Kerbals tend not to scream in horror. Turn off reaction wheels when driving a rover. Enough struts can get anything into orbit. Burning at the wrong time is the easiest way to run out of fuel.

On the Ethics of One-Way Landing Missions ...
Merinsan replied to LameLefty's topic in KSP1 Discussion
The problem you have is you haven't asked for volunteers! Look at Mars One, plenty of people signing up for that and it's a one way trip! All my Kerbals on Eve signed up for the Eve One program. Once I get the colony assembled, I'll probably post a screenshot somewhere. -
I can't honestly say. It's been more than a year already, so if I assume 4hrs a session, 3 times a week, that's about 624hrs. could be much higher.

Happy Birthday!

I might try that, but honestly 45 seconds is nothing compared to the 4hrs I will play after starting it up!

I wanted to do that also. But I lack self control and am a Bad person.... Not only am I a gamer and (former)MMO player, but I am also a programmer. Programmers are always looking for shortcuts, and anything that can be done more efficiently will be done more efficiently. Lastly, something I am fond of saying that sums this up nicely for me: "Necessity is not the mother of all invention, laziness is."

In my opinion that would make it more of a grind. I think that one way to solve this is to remove the benefit of repeated transmissions, although then you'd may make it such that it's not enough. If you could only transmit once per area, and then only get the remaining science through sample returns, it would give more of an emphasis on complete missions (ie returning samples)

That's the option I was looking for to. The only reason it's called career mode is because that will be career mode when it is finished. So far it's not finished, so this poll is kind of meaningless.

That's an interesting idea. I've never considered doing it before. The thing I would worry about would be smashing the lander can on the ground. You'd have to be careful to go slow enough when landing. I like to have landing legs to absorb impact myself. I seldom use the lander can also. Normally I use cupola or the 3 man pod.

You clearly have no understanding of software development. The minor version number increases until you want to make a major version number change. There is nothing saying it must go to 0.99, in fact if squad wanted to, they could go past 0.99, to say 0.100. A product I work on is currently on version 5.1.237.53, so what does that mean? Also if this game is in development for 13 years and we get an update every 2 months, I'm going to be pretty happy with that. New content for 13 years continuously after spending about $20 is a good deal as far as I am concerned. But there is no way Squad wants to be working on the game for 13 years, they can't keep making money on it for that long, unless they found a completely untapped market say on another planet. Squad wants to get this game into full release so they can bump up the price and make a decent amount of money on it. At the moment they don't make a lot of money because they are using the money for development. Once they release it, it's full on profit, and they can develop other games which can bring in more money for them.

When I first saw the title, I was not expecting much, but I loved it. Maybe my idea of metal is incorrect, I don't know, but to me this didn't feel like metal, but then I don't know much about music. Also grats on getting onto KSP weekly! I wouldn't be here otherwise! Now, I shall listen again. Edit: I want this in KSP somewhere!!!

100% agree. I would guess that this is already on their to do list anyway. The data is certainly stored already, they just need a way to get the data displayed. I suggest though this could be integrated into the in-game DB. Currently when you click on the planet you get it's info. There could be more info added there, such as what sampling has been done etc.

Space Plane Mk 1 The next was Space Plane Mk 2 Then Space Plane Mk 3, which actually did make it into space.

1st Day In KSP - What Am I Doing Wrong
Merinsan replied to a topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
If your framerate is 2 FPS, I would suggest your game may be behaving as if you had high physical warp active, which would rip the chutes off. While I have no idea why your framerate is so bad - though GPU is mostly irrelevant, there are some things you can try. 1. Turn down settings for the game. 2. Look up while trying to land. Viewing the sky rather than the ground improves the framerate a little - it may help you. 3. Make sure you're not running other things in the background. -
Hilarious the science tree gives us Skipper before Mainsail
Merinsan replied to Oddible's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Overheating a Nerva is easy. Stick it on an orange tank and light it up. I don't mind that you get Skippers before the Mainsails. I put a 3 man capsule into orbit and then on to Duna using Skippers alone. What I find ridiculous is the Poodle comes before the Skipper. I did actually try to get a poodle transfer stage into orbit with small engines for about 20 minutes. I think it would be possible with a lot of work, but I gave up in the end. -
I'd much prefer to be able to define the ending the way I want it. I don't want to be railroaded into a specific ending. Also, don't take criticisms of your idea personally. A lot here don't like your idea (myself included), and don't think it would improve the game. Just because we don't offer alternative solutions does not mean we don't recognize an idea that we don't like. For example, I am sure you yourself would recognize that to control the human population, culling is a bad idea - you don't have to offer an alternative to recognize that. I'd like to see where the Devs take career mode. I know money is coming. Missions are coming. Resources are coming. How it all fits together, I don't know, but I can't complain about it yet since it doesn't exist. And this is the main point, Career mode as it currently stands, is not actually a career mode. It's simply a first step on the way to career mode. By all means, offer suggestions, but don't expect everyone to agree with you. The Devs will take what they think is good, and leave what they don't like.

What did you name your first rocket?
Merinsan replied to Spacewalking on Sunshine's topic in KSP1 Discussion
You stole my name! Mine was different to yours though. I honestly forget what it looked like, it certainly wasn't memorable. -
That moment you realise you're good at this game...
Merinsan replied to Drunkrobot's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I've gotten quite good at pinpoint landings on bodies without atmosphere. I can get within about 100 meters of a target without using much extra fuel. I also can do landings at night without lights pretty reliably, although it is nerve racking and uses more fuel than normal. I actually landed one time and didn't realize for a second. And I've been happily docking for as long as I can recall now. I'm actually getting good at docking unbalanced craft - specifically an orange tank with an RCS probe at one end only (good for reducing part counts). -
Great! Too bad they didn't fix it for nukes as well.
-
This is my new favorite part. The amount of science it gets you is insane!

I seriously considered ignoring the xenon node in the tech tree even after I got everything else. But the winner has to be the not rockomax connector. Everytime I try to use it, it looks stupid so I trash it.

Single mission science points record in v0.22
Merinsan replied to lajoswinkler's topic in KSP1 Discussion
The best I did was last night, when I ransacked the Duna science vault. I'd previously been there, but went back with new instruments, and was a bit more thorough, taking all possible science points from everywhere. The only place left is in atmosphere. I still ended up with about 3500 points. I got around that on my first visit there. -
This criticism will be fully warranted when the game is released (ie version 1.0) until then, it is pointless for them to do such a thing since the game is still in development. As for the OPs comments, I'm quite sure deadly reentry and FAR is coming, but it would be a low priority for now. Their current focus is career mode, which they have stated already. Career mode means science (which we just got), money (meaning mission objectives?) and possibly resources. Why care about deadly reentry when you can get a mod for it?

I play Minecraft, albeit no where near as much as I used to. I found out about KSP from Kurtjmac. I think I watched one of his ultra hardcore videos and noticed KSP and checked it out. I then bought KSP for my son that same day. I soon bought another copy for myself.
