  1. I too have used the "existing multiple save" feature of CTRL-C + CTRL-V. I very much doubt that multiple saves will be officially implemented though. In fact, I fully expect quicksave to vanish at some point, since it's not particularly challenging when you have a quicksave available. I've crashed so many things with absolutely no consequence since I just press F9.
  2. Sent a huge mission to Duna. The ship had a space station core, 4 satellites and 4 rovers. Deploy all the satellites in orbits I like - 2 polar at 90 degree angles, one equatorial and another 45 degrees to the equator. Get into a nice circular orbit in preparation for rover deployment. Send the first one down, with a 12km periapsis. It gets down to 8km and I deploy its parachute. It's still going at about 300m/s and I start to worry. A few seconds later, the chute rips off and the rover proceeds to smash into the ground. My conclusion - these 4 rovers are never going to be able to land. And this was the primary mission objective!
  3. If you were to find the highest point on the Mun, you could do it with a 50 meter tall tower. I don't see that as impossible.
  4. Always getting killed by the computer in Age of Empires killed my fun in that, so I gave up on it. I admit, I sucked at it and couldn't be bothered to learn strategies to beat the computer. Meanwhile, everyone else I knew was much better at killing the computer. Point is, some games take work to be good at. It's entirely your choice whether you want to put in that work.
  5. If it were me, I'd simply buy the game again, and trash the steam copy, as the amount of play I've gotten already far exceeds what I have paid. But then I am working, and the cost is pocket change to me. Having said that, this sounds like it is actually a steam problem, and you should be talking to their tech support to resolve the issue. Squad is not responsible for the extra stuff Steam adds to make KSP a Steam game.
  6. He's a youtuber. Check out his channel, and you'll be wondering when he'll be back too.
  7. That is simple the best ship I've seen in KSP. I've tried to do something like that before, but I suck.
  8. Nice job. It reminds me of a ship I built over multiple launches, looked quite similar. The only problem was, when I fired the engines up they broke off. Plus there was a fuel flow issue. One day I'm going to do it again. True. But if you want to look cool, this is the way to do it! And overdoing it is the Kerbal way.
  9. The biggest problem with this base is that it bounces when I go to it. In fact, last night when I looked at it, it bounced so hard the tower broke off. I don't know if legs will solve this problem, but I am going to try. Also, if I were to put this on a frozen lake on Minmus, I suspect there will be no problem, although I like putting bases on Minmus high up, overlooking the lakes.
  10. I did something like that last night, except for a Duna landing. Everything exploded, except for the capsule, and it landed upright. Almost like it was planned...
  11. Finally finished my new version of the Armstrong Base, on the Mun. It took about 18 launches to assemble. The biggest problem with it is every time I switch to it, it bounces - I suspect because the ground is uneven. The primary objective was to keep the part count low, though I think I need legs for it, so I'll probably add them back in the next version. Anyway, here it is: Docking was hard at times. With uneven ground the ports didn't always line up, so I had to ram them together at times. There is currently 25 Kerbals living there. Thanks to the new crew management, it was a simple matter of throwing them in the hitchhiker module on launch. Previous bases I had to build massive crew ships and load them before launch which was a real pain.
  12. I've constructed 2 new fuel depots for 0.21. Mun Depot: Kerbin Depot: The Kerbin Depot was hard to do, since parts needed to be lined up to look nice, but I am happy with the end result. Also, to keep part counts low, I don't put RCS ports on the fuel that is getting docked. This makes it very hard to dock, but it looks cleaner and runs smoother. Note: Most of the fuel/RCS modules have their docking bots still attached, since it's extra RCS. As I use RCS, they get jettisoned to crash in the planet below.
  13. Tell me what is in the expansion pack, and I'll answer your question.
  14. I did that once. I was in deorbit and realized I needed to repack the chutes. Got out and successfully did it, no problem. Unfortunately, getting back in was a problem as I watched helplessly as the capsule drifted further and further away.
  15. Too bad it got closed for being necroed.
  16. As cool as the barge looks, it will never work as you intend, due to the way physics works with a single ship. If you dock it on one side only, all thrust is going to go to that port, and the other side will bend down, through the barge floor (since collisions don't work on the same ship parts). You can achieve the same effect without the barge, just have the docking port. Most likely the reason the thing is exploding is while docking, the thing is moving to get aligned and colliding. You really only have 2 stock options. 1. Even docking, ie docking on both sides 2. Using landing legs to secure the load - DO NOT use time acceleration while doing this, as collisions get turned off and things will clip through. In the past when I have wanted to move a base, I finally did it by sending up a new base, deleting the old one and pretending I actually moved it.
  17. I've tried this before, and consistently failed, thus you must be some kind of freaky genius. Well done!
  18. I have to say, since it's introduction, it's one of my favorites. I frequently use it to do transfers from LKO to the Mun. As to why you are crashing...maybe you are just using it inappropriately.
  19. I've managed to take one out with a rover, but never spontaneously exploded one.
  20. I always use them as fireworks for the Kerbals on Kerbin! I've also been building stations, and one trick I use, to keep parts down, is add a docking assistant: an RCS tank, docking port, probe, RTGs and RCS blocks. They are make docking very hard (unbalanced RCS), but these things are useful for helping with docking and rearranging the station, so I often keep them around.
  21. I've seen it happen before, just not that extreme! No idea why it happens, but it works it out properly after the SOI change.
  22. I made one that was pretty big. I refuelled it in LKO before heading to Laythe, but I am pretty sure it had enough fuel left to get to Laythe, just not enough to get back. That was in 0.19. I plan to make a new one for my current save in 0.21
  23. Nice looking sombrero! Based on that picture, I can tell the docking port is the wrong way, but not because of the arrows, just because I can see the back of the port.
  24. I finally visited all 3 Mun Arches, and put flags at them, plus the Armstrong Monument. My next task is to put flags at the Monoliths. After that, set up bases at all those flags!
  25. I have no problem with your original post, it was perfectly reasonable. What I am commenting on is the rest of the thread. I stand by my comments that I do not want arrows for the aesthetics. Decouplers don't worry me, since they are going to be dumped during staging, and besides they are symmetrical otherwise.
