NASA also doesn't have to deal with bugs with physics or the Kraken. Back when 0.20 first came out, a lot of people had space stations just spontaneously explode, me included. All I can say is I am so glad I had quicksaves.

anyone please tell me which easter egg(s) is gonna get removed?
Merinsan replied to lammatt's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I don't think they ever intentionally remove easter eggs. It's generally unintentional. -
I had one encounter that was so close you could literally reach out and touch it. The relative velocity must have been a few hundred m/s, and I only saw it for a few frames (until I turned the camera). Gave me a heart attack at the time.

Even if there is, it's not legal. You always have the right to take legal action if your rights have been violated or you have been harmed. It's basically there to stop people who don't know any better.
-
Yes, but it'd be useless multiplayer, where no one understands the point of it.
-
I recall seeing Nova say no to a previous request for an updated resource chart. I suspect it's simply too fluid at the moment to release, so rather than release something that will change, they are not releasing anything.
-
I made a rocket last night with command seats (no pods), and put 2 Kerbals on a one way trip to Moho. The didn't get to land, but they have a nice view of the surface!
-
I personally consider it cheating, so never do it. I don't care how you feel about it, or anyone else. You all can play the way you like.

The real question is, why do you need to choose? Set up a base on both! Duna is a great place for a base to stop at on the way to outer planets. If you've got Kethane, or when the future resources come, you can run a mining operation there to have a refueling depot in orbit. Laythe is a great place for holidaying at. Endless beaches, and beautiful blue oceans. Just remember to pack your lead lined suit. Putting a base on Vall is a little better than Laythe, since it'd make a good launch pad for interstellar missions (if they ever happen) and it has a decent gravity. Bop or Pol would be much better in terms of delta-v, but the reduced gravity is not good for the little green men.

if ksp was finished and sqaud made ksp 2 would you buy it?
Merinsan replied to Penguinhero's topic in KSP1 Discussion
If it was just more of the same, what would be the point? If it added a whole new dimension (perhaps literally) to the game, definitely! -
It means it's closer to release than it was before these videos came out

I checked the store for the download. Then I was like what the ?? Damn you for getting my hopes up!
-
Damn it, I knew I'd trip up on something there. You are right, I was using the wrong frame of reference. It's a long time since I read up on relativity. I probably should do a refresher sometime.

I don't claim to know the math, but I do have an understanding of general physics. The last sentence of your post disproves your math. It's simple not possible for the planet to accelerate towards the satellite while the satellite does not accelerate towards the planet, as it violates the concept of relativity. The planet moves relative to the "stationary" satellite and the satellite moves relative to the "stationary" planet, meaning the acceleration and velocity would need to be consistent between the 2 bodies.

new space pilot... and new questions
Merinsan replied to Kaelin's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Generally people build space stations in orbit, by docking parts together with docking ports. However, I have seen entire stations launched from Kerbin. They generally require huge launch stages and masses of lag. I myself have launched whole bases and dropped them on the Mun. In my opinion, both bases and stations look better when built from multiple launches, since you can build asymmetrical designs. When launching from Kerbin they pretty much have to be symmetrical. The game decides what a ship is based on the root part. If it is a probe core, it becomes a probe. If it is a lander can 1 or 3 man and I think Cupola also counts, it becomes a lander, any other capsule counts as a ship. For Rovers, Bases and Stations, you have to set that yourself. Debris is debris when there is no control part on the thing, after separation. For the VAB, moving up and down you can use page up and page down. Left and right arrow rotates the view. You can also use the mouse. I'd tell you how to use the mouse, but I can't remember - you need to click and drag, and I think hold ctrl or something. I know how to do it when on my game computer - it's just automatic! -
Well done! Took me a few tries to get the Duna landing right too. Making sure the chutes don't rip apart the ship is the hard part. Once you are there, getting back into orbit is the easy part, providing you packed enough fuel!

What Will Be The First Thing You Do In 0.21?
Merinsan replied to The Jedi Master's topic in KSP1 Discussion
1. Put a fuel depot into Mun orbit. 2. Rebuild the Armstrong Base. 3. Prepare for the Duna base. -
I've been a software developer for over 20 years now, and this is a bug. The very first line in your source specifies it's a bug, since it produces an incorrect result. All bugs are caused by the CPU executing exactly the commands ordered by the software. If my calculator is telling me PI is 3.142, it's not correct. It's an approximation, and I might accept it for somethings, but it's not correct. There are ways to completely eliminate this problem, however they are terribly inefficient, so it's never done. For example, you could represent values as 128 bit floating point numbers (not sure if the current values are 48 or 64 bit). You could also represent them using fixed point numbers rather than floating point. If you are willing to use enough memory/computational power, this can be solved. The game wouldn't run well, but it is solvable.
-
Happened exactly like that for me. It's the reason I swear I will never do it again! Um, that is the definition of a bug. It's something that could be fixed. I doubt it will be though, because it's simply too expensive computationally to do so

Most attractive celestial body from low orbit?
Merinsan replied to Jack the Kerbonaut's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I love the color of Eve, but the terrain of Minmus wins for me. -
I pretty much just stopped it. It became too much like work. I still miss it, but when I got on while missing it, it felt different to what I remember. I guess it was like a bad relationship that you have ended, you have fond memories of it even though it was bad.
-
And I can proudly say I wrote a game which used up all of that 38KB! Not a good game, and it got trashed when I reached that limit, but it was a lot of code!
-
For me, WoW is the most played. I think I spent 4-5 years playing it. In terms of actual hours I can't remember, though I wouldn't be surprised if it was close to a year of actual time. Since I stopped playing, got into Minecraft, and played that for 2 years. Now on KSP, which is currently 3rd. In terms of games I currently play, KSP is #1, then Oolite, then Minecraft, and when the new Thief comes out, I'll be playing that.

Jool is so green because of all the Kerbals trying to land on it, getting pulverized by the harsh atmosphere. It used to be a dull grey color.

I've been working on a new base design, so yes R&D. So far it's going poorly. I think my objectives are too high. Needs to look good, but have a minimal part count. What this means is I am trying to put upright hitch hiker modules on the ground, connected to other modules through docking ports. This also means no lander legs. The last test I did was comical, as when I staged, I watched half of the modules fall away. Then once I landed, the mini rovers designed to help didn't work at all - seems RTGs without a battery don't work.
